<<I too only have basic training, and no specialty. The least of which being computer transmition.>> Claxter tried to think of anyone who might be good with computers. <<I don't suppose...I could try contacting the Dome Ship. Maybe tell them we want to put an informant in the rebellion, but not say who or what it is, and we need a private transmition set up. They may be able to tell us how to do it. It's risky because we don't want them knowing it's you we're sending, especially since you dont have official permission yet.>>

Salem walked determinedly right into Temrash's open ship. Jagill was inside, along with a Hork-Bajir he didn't know. He did look familiar... Salem wasn't sure why he'd be important, however. In any case, he had things to discuss at the moment. He gave the unknown Hork-Bajir only a nod in greeting.

"Jagill, I need to talk to Temrash," he said.

Jagill was a little surprised when Salem walked in, but he opened the door to sickbay and pointed at temrash in the pool. "Here Temrash."

"Who is there?" Temrash asked.

"Salem speak to you now?"

"Oh, hello Salem. Corliss had a hunch I was behind it all, and threatened to blacklist me if I didn't admit guilt. So I went ahead and took responsibility. You should have been more discreet. Now I'm in deeper water, as are you."

Efaen hesitates. <<I am not sure that is wise, Claxter. Such an action would surely lead to questions regarding why Prince Ossanlin were not delivering the orders, which would mean revealing his current state. That may not be to our advantage; the currently acting captain may see it fit to return Ossanlin to the Tyrennian and from there leave the bar. That would not be to my advantage right now. No, I prefer to speak to Prince Ossanlin directly. For the time being I will merely hope that he wakes before the rebels decide to depart.>>

Salem stood for a moment, absorbing what Temrash had told him. Corliss had threatened something based on nothing more than a suspicion, and Temrash had sold him out. Now the Yeerk was nonchalantly talking about it as if it weren't even a big deal. The hair on the back of Salem's neck rose- this felt like a trap. But it couldn't be... could it?

Even shocked as he was, Salem took note of the system Temrash was using to communicate. That would be something handy for him to acquire. There was no time to deal with that now, though. What he really wanted was to get off this ship, and the sense that Temrash's betrayal might be a work in progress.

Without letting his anxiety show, he nodded, "Very well. Temrash, I'm calling our deal off." With that, he turned and began walking back out of the ship, watching both of the Hork-Bajir out of the corner of his eye, and letting his hand inch towards what looked like a short length of rope with a metallic ball at one end strapped to his belt.

<<I don't have any good ideas. Perhaps we could try to delay the rebels.>> Claxter said.

"He left." Jagill said.

"Well, I guess that's over. Get me out of here. I don't feel very relaxed anymore."

Jagill put Temrash back in his head, and Temrash turned to Kevlin. "I don't supposed you could think of a way to find the rebellion?"

"We could maybe tap into the transmission as it leaves for the rebellion. If the set up a link we may be able to track the signal but I'm not certain." Kevlin shrugged. Dara didnt put forth his opinion because he realized he was out of his league here. What they were talking about was beyond him.

<<Perhaps,>> Efaen concedes. <<I am certain they wish to remain in good standing with Prince Ossanlin. It is not every day that a Yeerk wins over an Andalite captain. We simply need to ensure that they are aware of the fact that Prince Ossanlin is incapacitated at the moment.>>

Efaen's slow walk has brought her to where Corliss, Illim, Jasper and Al are all standing in a loose circle. She comes to a halt as soon as she steps within comfortable range of her tail, which is still held at a comfortable, relaxed height.

<Yeerk,> Efaen says, addressing Corliss in open thought-speech. <My Prince is fatigued at the moment and has not been able to speak on my decisions regarding the rebellion. We will wait here at the bar until he rouses so that I can seek out his full permission and understanding of the matter.>

Claxter stood close to Efaen by Andalite standards. Corliss was in a bad mood right now, but hopefully he wouldn't have much problem with this. <Corliss, may I ask if prince Ossanlin knows exactly where the base is?>

"Yeah, if they leave we might be able to track them. Though Corliss is in super paranoid mode. The whole rebellion is kind of uptight. My ship has great stealth functions and speed, but I'm not totally confident I could follow him if he did leave without him knowing."

"What about an external tracking device? We could hopefully place it on the hull. They might never notice." Kevlin looked for the bag of supplies he had left in the ship. "I had one with the rest of my equipment."

We ran into the woods to think. To meditate. To...reflect...to process. Being one, alone was a terrifying experience. One which we will never put ourselves in again. But we had to. If just to get over it.

We stood in a clearing in the middle of the woods and closed all our eyes, except the eye that had been replaced by an interphasic scanner. That eye could not be closed, would never blink again.

We thought about Pizali...we thought about Chugilor. Esthip. Vetaq, Claxter's father. About Jaegis IV. About...that day when it all ended, yet somehow it all had just began.

None of the patrons, even the ones we were acquainted with, could understand our pain. Not even Vetaq's son. It's different really, everything the Alvie do to you. It's hard to tell whether the Alvie or the Yeerks are worse...the Yeerks take control of your body and can be fought, but they do it to conquer, simply to not be helpless. The Alvie pervert your body into a mess of machine and organism, and permanently take over your body, but they feel they are raising quality of life for others...

The Alvie. To us, there was no greater abomination. The Alvie would pay, eventually, for all the horrible things they've done to others...and to us.

We lied down. And thought some more...

"I doubt we'd be able to put one on without being detected. whatever salem did is still active, and he'll be running over every part of the ship just to get rid of it. We're on very very thin ice here. Corliss doesn't even believe I can be useful to the rebellion, and I don't know how to prove it to him if he won't even test my abilities. This is all Terenia's fault. I'm  really starting to hate that nothlit."

Jasper and Sapttus stood quietly a short distance away as Salem was talking. They  busied themselves studying the exterior of the bar, examing the small cracks and design flaws that he inevitably picked out all the time.

<<Who built this thing? They'd better have had their architect's license revoked...>>
<<I would imagine a building that can self-reassemble such as this one isn't held under the same building codes as your familiar with, Jasper.>>
<<Well, yeah, but... this thing just shouldn't be standing!>>
<<From the looks of things, we left the normal laws of physics back on Earth.>>

He wasn't even aware when Salem left; Jasper was too busy trying to understand how the walls were strong enough to hold up to any pressure. From the looks of things, he should be able to just push it over, but...

<<This place is weird.>> He said.
<<You're just now coming to that conclusion?>>

Salem looked behind them, and realized that their party had left. "...oops..." Jasper said. "Now what?" "I guess we'll go back to the bar and wait. That was the plan, I thought."

Corliss glares at Salem as the humanoid creature walks off, and he turns the same skeptical sneer onto Al.  All he knew about the holographic entity was that he was Salem's lackey, and that made Corliss instantly suspicious.

"What a bloody smooth talker," Corliss says broodingly, looking up at Illim, worry softening his scowl.

He steps back with a start as Efaen approaches, raising his Dracon.

"Will Ossanlin survive?" he asks, eyeing Efaen's tail.

<All scans indicate he should make a recovery. We're just not sure how long until he comes around.> Caxter said. His tail twitched when Corliss raised the dracon at Efaen, but he didn't say anything. The Yeerk was probably just on edge for some reason, and he shouldn't blow it out of proportion. Still, he found his hand hovering over his shredder.
