Efaen eyes Corliss' Dracon Beam warily, her own hand finding the butt of her Shredder - or rather, the Shredder that Claxter had lent her. She does not pull the weapon, instead choosing to fix the human Controller with a steady, cold gaze.

<As Warrior Claxter said, Prince Ossanlin should, in time, make a full recovery. In the meantime, we will wait,> Efaen says, having no qualms about ordering Corliss around. <I shall wait in the bar, should you require my presence.> She turns to leave, not wanting to speak with the Yeerk for longer than necessary.

"Why are you getting yourself involved in this?" Elayne asks Mar with a sigh, sinking into the chair beside his. "I mean, why risk your life for Ossanlin? Why get updates from him and Corliss? If anyone should be interested in what they're doing, it should be me; it's part of my fight." She hesitates. "At least, it was."

<<Maybe. That makes me nervous,>> Illim tells Derrel. <<There's a difference between being reckless and daring someone to attack. It's not hard to imagine he may have something retaliatory up his sleeve.>>

Illim raises his eyebrows, leaning closer to Corliss to murmur quietly, "Do you think Terenia'd agree? What's the harm in just going now?" Bringing an Andalite to the base frightens even Illim. He recognizes that Serid did not entirely fit his race's stereotype--a rarity.

Corliss sighs, exasperated.  "Believe me, Illim, I wish we could leave now," he hisses. "I made a promise to that human girl that I'd get her body back, even though I'm completely at a loss as to how to do it."

He turns back to Efaen as she saunters off.  "Wait, Andalite," he calls. "We can't afford to wait here until Ossanlin fully recovers.  Who knows how long that could take, and I've been at this damned place long enough.  I do have responsibilities at the base, you know, and we have at least one new inductee."

Corliss casts a wary glance at Al and Claxter.  How quickly would they be able to react?  Of course, the Andalite's tail would be the quickest immediate response...

Efaen pauses, turning only a stalk eye to Corliss, rather than bothering to give him her full attention. Even in just the one stalk the arrogance of her glare is almost palpable.

<Your responsibilities matter little to me, Yeerk,> she says coldly. <We will depart when I have managed to fully see to my affairs, and no sooner.>

She continues to saunter away, clearly seeing him as no threat to her.

Claxter hadn't really heard Corliss refer to Efaen as Terenia's body, though he was keeping an eye on the guy. <Corliss, perhaps it would be good to go ahead, and either pick Efaen up later, or we could send her to the base later. I understand if you have responsibilities, but Efaen wants to do this the right way. She does not want to commit a traitorous act, so she must make sure she has her superior's permission.> He said. He did not follow Efaen because he wanted to make sure things were squared away with Corliss.

Mar glances at Elayne, his expression unreadable. The truth of the matter is that he doesn't really know what his reasons are. Ossanlin, technically, is an Andalite War-Prince in a universe that has no relevance to Mar whatsoever. Elayne is a random rebel in a sea of others like her. Yet still...

"There is one thing I do know," mutters Mar, his voice gaining a bit of strength. His heart rate is slowly reaching more reasonable levels. "Ossanlin has...not hated me despite having every reason to. I love a friend of his and gain benefits from the domination of the Empire he fights. Yet ever since...Myitt....ne arly died he has assisted me. He is...a friend. That is why I am helping. As for the Bar..."

Mar grins. "...well, I live here. I can't leave, or I'll die. I might as well find out what I intend to do here."

Salem breathed a sigh of relief as he cleared the area of Temrash's ship. He walked briskly back over to the group that included Corliss- two Andalites had now arrived as well- Claxter and the female Salem had seen around a few times. Corliss looked every bit as tense as he had when Salem had walked off, but now it seemed he was directing his energy towards the female Andalite.

Doesn't that Yeerk ever calm down? Salem wondered to himself. As he stepped up to the group, he nodded at Corliss and smiled at Jasper, then turned to Al.

"Hey, I need to talk to you for a minute," he said, and without waiting for an answer, led Al a little ways away by his shirt sleeve.

Al made a show of appearing very confused before turning to Salem with a grin, "What's up?"

"Yeerk sold us out," Salem said tersely, using the Atazin galactic language for fear that they'd be overheard. "He said he was a former Visser. I expected more control. I think I need to start running background checks on clients."

Al laughed and replied in Gallard, "So why do you need to tell me about it?"

"We need to get our friends off his ship," Salem said quietly, still using the Atazin language, with a glance towards Corliss.

"And you can't just ask him for access to his ship's power system because...?" Al prodded with a smirk, switching to the Atazin language himself.

Salem glared at Al, "Because then he'd know I'd been lying about what I'd done. Or... what I hadn't. Whatever."

Al smirked at him, "I've got news for you, dude. I think he's already pretty aware that you screwed with his ship."

The pair continued arguing quietly a short distance from the group that'd formed.

Corliss was making Claxter wary. He was supposed to be an ally, but had the posture of an enemy. Why did he have his weapon out, anyway? It was aggressive behaviour. What was that he had whispered to the other controller just now? He wasn't a great Warrior, but this was still sending out warning bells. He tried to make himself look relaxed while keeping eyes on both of them, and his hand and tail at the ready. His earlier question had gone unanswered, and if he was being ignored he may use it to his advantage.

Illim raises an eyebrow in response to Efaen's dismissive words. The Andalite male's suggestion amuses Illim, as it is so close to what he'd prefer to do with Efaen, himself.

"Yeah, that or I could always stun her," he remarks to Corliss offhandedly, giving a bland smile and a shrug. He doesn't appear to care that both Andalites can likely hear him.

Elayne slowly nods, looking down, his answer making her a little ashamed of even asking. "You're right," she says. "I just worry; I don't want you to be taken away. It's all selfish, of course," she adds, giving him a small smile. It begs the question, though... what I intend to do here.

<Oh is that why Corliss has had his weapon out?> Claxter said, drawing his. <Any such attack would be betrayal, after Efaen has agreed to work with you. If you intend to take her by force, I'll assume you only wanted her to put that nothlit back in her head. In which case, I'll gladly put tail into you both.> He walked towards them, weapon drawn on Corliss.

<<Why did you have to say that so loud?>> Derrel asked.

"Holy hell, you uppity Andalite," Illim rolls his eyes, raising his hands, palms out, to indicate his Dracon has been put away. "I was kidding. Will you relax?" He takes a few steps forward to make sure he has Claxter's attention.

<You think this is a joking matter? I already have suspicions about your true reasons for wanting Efaen, and you're making jokes? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no one is laughing. I've already had to put tail in Corliss once, and that was before he spent much time with Terenia. I don't trust either one of them, and I don't trust you either.>

<Efaen has agreed to work with you, but she works for Prince Ossanlin. If you attempt to enslave her again, I' well within my rights to attack.>

<Warrior Claxter,> Efaen says sharply, stopping for a second time in her walk to the bar. <Please desist. If these Yeerks are foolish enough to attack me then they clearly do not value our arrangement. They know that I will come of my own free will, once Prince Ossanlin has given confirmation.>

She switches to private thought-speak, directed only at Claxter. <<In the meantime, allow them to act of their own accord. I would rather be made aware of their true intentions now than when I am alone, stranded at their base. If they must shoot me, let them shoot me. They will not kill me, not so long as Terenia is twisting the Controller's actions to suit her needs.>>

<I apologize.> Claxter said to Efaen, putting his shredder away against his better judgement. <It seems I do not fully understand Human humor.>

<<Perhaps it would be better, if you choose to work with Yeerks, that you could at least work for someone who is friendly? Like that Temrash guy? At least he has shown loyalty to Prince Ossanlin.>>

<<Are you referring to the Yeerk who physically assaulted me? The same Yeerk whose medical incompetence nearly killed me?>> Efaen asks. <<With all due respect, I prefer aptitude over congeniality. Regardless, I do not trust any Yeerk's supposed kindness. At least these rebels do not hide their contempt for me. I know where they stand.>>
