Catie's head swayed to-and-fro in a gesture of uncertainty, "Well, I've been working in the med-bay for most of my career, so going on adventures sounds exciting. Plus, if I stuck with my medical career, I probably would reach Lieutenant Senior in...a year or so. This way is quicker."

Strangely fixated on rank for a medical officer, Ewa thought.  Does it really make any difference?

Then ewa suggested an ulterior motive, "What? Like...pirating or something? Never! I'm an astrofleet officer, and I would never do anything like that!"

"Because you're principled," Ewa observed.  "You believe in the rules, in doing the right thing.  You believe in order--ordering the world around you so it is right and follows the rules."  Ewa nodded her head in acknowledgement and approval.  "And maybe, as you are a medical officer, you also believe in helping others."  She tapped her fingers idly on the back of the couch.

"So.  Lieutenant." Ewa stared at her fixedly.  "Who are you planning to help here?  What is it you plan to do for your promotion?"

Back in time aboard Desmond’s ship in orbit:

As the crew leaves the room with Silver and Desmond in tow, Parker sees red dots on his motion tracker. He calls out to the crew as they return to the shuttle, “Guys, get to the shuttle, we have company. I’ll hold them off!”

A group of four CG soldiers come running down the hallway. Parker takes the corner to head them off. He stands in the middle of the hallway, Battle Rifle aimed at their heads. He fires a three-round burst into the face of the far-right soldier. He falls at his comrades’ feet as Parker swings his rifle to the left, keeping his fire constant, sending three-round bursts, one after another. The rest of the group ducks to dodge the head shots and return fire.

The rounds hit Parker sporadically, causing his shields to appear around his armor. As Parker sees the soldiers duck, he lowers his aim as he reaches the far-left soldier. The far-left soldier had hit the wall and had planned to slide toward the ground while firing. The first of Parker’s three-round burst clears over his head, the second clips his shoulder as he hits the wall. He winces and goes to fire when the third bullet hits his chest, and pierces his heart. With two soldiers left, Parker sweeps his aim right, aiming low.

The two middle soldiers, now on the ground, continue their fire. Parker’s shields flare one final time before disappearing. His HUD begins flashing with an alarm sounding, letting him know his shields are depleted. He smirks behind his helmet, They’re starting to learn. Too bad. His sweeping fire catches the two prone soldiers in their backs. They fall silent and their bodies go limp on the floor.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin continues to watch somewhat impassively as the discussion goes on until he feels a strange sensation.  A small patch of his fur stands on end as he feels something like a chill wash gently down his skin.  That sensation...so faint, but there was no doubting it, it was a similar feeling to that of the strange demons that had invaded the bar some time ago, and also somewhat like Mar, though different.  Someone who wasn't too far away was using energy...or emanating it.  Without being in a state of ascension, he cannot sense where the energy is or how powerful it might be...it is somewhat troubling to say the least.

He turns his main eyes on Efaen, not wanting to leave the ship before the conversation comes to an end, but feeling it might be necessary to check for whoever was putting off energy...if it was another demon...but it would have to wait, the chances of another demon attack were slim, and without being able to ascend, there wasn't much he could do against one anyway.  He refocuses on Efaen again.

<<Listen to me Efaen, and listen well.  This is your desire, remember that.  When I first suggested this, you were completely against it...for whatever reason that you changed your mind, remember that you were the one who changed it.  I hope that you will learn that not all Yeerks are the same.  Be that as it may, I want you to keep all four eyes open and do NOT be reckless.  As soon as we are able to egress in good manner, we will adjourn to the Mirage.  I will brief you further within the privacy it provides.>>

Jade looked to Al with a confused look. She didnt know why the paint needed glitter or sparkles. "It's for a spell....the paint will disappear when the spell runs its course." She turned to the girl with a serious face."She was hit in the back of the head . Its a wonder she was awake as long as she was."

After being away what must have been weeks, Gaz walked back into the bar.

"Never thought I would miss this place," she muttered to herself.

Gaz was a young woman in her mid-twenties who favored dark pants, a light shirt and a dark blue pirate long coat. No one was quite she where she had gotten it from. Her long brown hair was down this time instead of in a ponytail like usual.

Gaz walked up to the bar and ordered two runs from the bartender, who gave her a silent nod in greeting. As much as she would have liked it, both rums were not for her.

Odysseus Morgan, captain of the ship walked in. This was a man to turn heads. Morgan, as many called him, was muscular and close to seven feet in height. He wore trousers that didn't look quite long enough along with a dark green shirt that looked like it didn't quite fit across his chest. He was also a darkish brown all over, which was mostly hair. Morgan was also a Minotaur.

With a sigh, he sat down beside Gaz.

Noah kept her blank expression she had perfected because of her Nimir-Raj would focus you in his unique forms of punishment if you draw his attention. She had it nailed so much it drove him insane, so much so that he began to use those she swore to protect to  try to get a reaction from her. She watched her change form with ease and was more amazed by that than by what she was changing into. Noah allowed herself a small smile, one of amusement and just glad that she had calmed her aggression. She took a deep breath and let go of the tension, but kept herself loose just in case.

"I have a feeling you at least know the basics of what I am, being that I was able to get the same information from your scent." She paused for a moment and looked over her shoulder to the man she was protecting. That peeked her interest but she kept it to herself for future reference.

"My name is Noah and I am a wereleopard of the Red Stone pard. From Earth, if that isn't obvious."

Sami nodded to show that she did in fact know what this female was capable of, even if she was a bit ignorant of what she was. She noticed that Noah finally took note of Larry, and moved a bit to her right to show him some more. She knew he was a bit weak, but she also hoped he could take on any magical attacks while Sami herself went in close combat. But she didn't let this show on her face. Not that she could anyway, with it changing and all. But she finally let it settle to her normal features. "Earth? I have never heard of that planet before." She tilted her head curiously again, blinking a bit.

Although Larry had shown no reaction to this Noah, he was not oblivious to her presence either. He had simply been here too long to be startled by other beings actions and besides it seemed as if Sami was capable of handling this fight. However when Noah acknowledged his presence with a glance he felt it was necessary to introduce himself.

He took his staff, which was made of a strong wood, was perhaps three and a half feet long and adorned at the top with a ruby about the size of a fist, off of his shoulder and stuck it in the ground. He then formed a triangle with his fingers and placed them over his chest while giving a slight bow. "Greetings, I am Larry Foulke of the Druids." he said in a soft, but formal tone of voice.

His unique eyes, the right one a sparkling sapphire blue the left a shimmering emerald green, were focused intently on Noah's face. His face was adorned with twin scars that formed an X. The first started above his right eye and ended below his left. It was thin, perhaps half an inch wide. The second started above his left eye and ended below his right eye. This one was thick, perhaps an inch wide.

He wore a leather vest which was black in color and slightly open revealing his bare chest. His pants were also made of black leather and his boots were also black leather.

Larry straightened up and looked over his right shoulder towards Grun, his raven. He whistled softly and Grun extended his wings to their four foot span and flapped over to the trio. However instead of landing on Larry's shoulder Grun decided to perch on Sami's right shoulder. Grun took care to grip firmly, but gently so as to not hurt Sami or tear through the cloak. Grun gazed at Noah with his fierce bird stare and cawed at her once in what seemed to be a warning or challenging tone.

Sami turned her head to smile at Larry a bit before returning her attention to Noah. She wasn't fazed at all when Grun landed on her shoulder and tried to be careful about not hurting her. She patted his wing gently when he cawed, cooing softly to him, saying it was all right. For now. She kept her gaze on Noah, letting her face go blank before mimicking Larry's eye colors and scars. She wsn't intending to provoke Noah, just find out a bit more about her. "Where and what is Earth? An what exactly is your power, besides magic." She didn't wait for Larry to react to her question. "You have very strong magic, but a sense of... Something else about you. Something that magic cannot neccessarily stop."

<I believe I have blue paint, though I'm unsure what shade it is exactly. The Warrior that had this last had put some in with intentions to give the ship a little more personality.> Claxter said as he went sifting through the back. He came out with a container. <It does not have lead in it.>

Jocun waited for someone to answer him. His attention was brought to a woman that didn't seem very well. "Are you ok?" He asked. she was twitching a bit. It almost seemed like her host was fighting her, and hopefully no one would notice and take it badly. He had seen what some people do if they have reason to believe a host is involuntary.

Two new people walked in, and one of them looked like a half bull man. He didn't seem to be in a great mood, so Jocun ignored him for now.

Noah nodded in Larry's direction keeping her eyes up watching all three in turn. She didn't pay much mind to the bird, for she saw it more as a weapon and not an individual threat. She took in the man's features memorizing the face being that his didn't change, it made it far easier. She drew her attention back to Sami as she asked her questions.

"The best answer I have to that is the milky way galaxy. I don't know where this is in reference to it. The planet itself, it's too vague of a question to answer." Noah took a moment to ponder how to answer the second question not truly knowing how to answer.

"Magic can't stop an animal, for that is part of who I am. And I don't have a special skill, not truly, just control over my power and the skills that come with being a lycanthrope, were-animal. Like quick healing." She left out the fact that if she was injured by another lycanthrope or by silver that her wounds would heal human slow. She didn't need others to know that who could use it against her.

Parker steps over their bodies and checks his ammo count. He disengages his rifle clip, catches it as it falls, reaches back to his pack and withdraws a new clip as he inserts the half-full clip back into his pack, then refits the new clip into his rifle. He began walking back to his friends, when a new group bursts through the door the last four came through, this time their numbers were tripled. He quickly darts behind the corner he had earlier turned. Without his shields, the rate of fire from all those soldiers would easily turn him into Swiss cheese. His own armor would reflect and resist enough on its own, but with twelve soldiers firing constantly, it wouldn’t last long. He shot around the corner as he peeked to aim. It would’ve been easier had he used his Assault Rifle; then he could just spray without chancing putting his head in the line of fire.

The fire from his Battle Rifle was keeping the men at bay for now; and he was able to thin their numbers. But they kept getting more reinforcements! With the numbers of soldiers increasing, Parker had no choice but to retreat towards the shuttle. Hopefully his friends would still be there. As golden rings travelled up and down his body, Parker’s HUD quiets and shows his shields had recharged. With his shields recharged, he made one last volley of shots and bolted towards the shuttle.

The CG soldiers, too distracted by their own firing, couldn’t tell Parker had fled. With less soldiers falling, a voice rang out, “Cease fire!” All soldiers stop firing, and see no volleys were being returned. “He’s run off, they must be retreating! Let’s get ‘em!” The soldiers scream a battle cry and give chase.

When Sami had regarded Larry with her smile it warmed his heart. He listened to what Sami was asking Noah and was surprised when Sami asked Noah about her magic power. He had not seen any evidence to support this accusation, but realized that Sami had perhaps sensed it.

Larry listened to Noah as she explained where she was from and her powers. It unnerved him at the way Noah kept staring at him. It almost seemed as if she was perhaps attracted to him and wanted to be his companion. However he had already decided that Sami would be his companion and decided to let Noah be aware of this. He also wished to let Sami know more about his feelings and find out her opinion on Noah as well.

Larry slowly grabbed his staff with his right hand and pulled it out of the sand. He then took a couple steps closer to Sami and then took his left arm and gently encircled Sami's hips with it and gently pulled her closer to him until their bodies were touching.

Larry took his staff that was in his right hand and slung it over his shoulder using the strap of thin leather attached to it. He then leaned down to place his mouth near her ear."Are you able to sense wether or not she represents a danger to us or our...feelings for one another?" he whispered in Sami's ear softly enough that Noah should not have been able to hear him.

Grun, who had enjoyed Sami's caressing of his wing and calmed down when she said it would be OK, watched his master's and friend's actions intently. He knew that his master would not harm this new being, unless she threatened either him, Larry, or Sami. Grun also knew that his master's actions were to simply protect Sami as well.

Larry winked at Grun and he knew that was a signal to depart. Grun carefully hopped off of Sami's shoulder, caught a headwind, and soared above their heads. He began flying in a lazy figure eight thirty feet above their heads.

Gaz handed Morgan a glass of rum.

"Here. This will make you feel better."

Morgan accepted the glass silently and took a swig of the drink. It did help to improve his mood a little.

"Look at it this way," Gaz said. "We were able to get some information and land a couple of useful jobs at the same time."

The reply was a nod and Gaz was happy to see that Morgan was lightening up a bit. Whether or not he said so he was glad to be back at the bar. True, things had happened since they had first arrived, but compared to some places it felt safer. The bar had turned into their safe haven when they needed a break. Gaz also knew that Morgan wouldn't entirely relax until he saw a certain familiar face.

"It does feel good to be back," Morgan admitted, "and you're right, we did good. Crew was at their best, no doubt about that."

"Cheers!" Gaz exclaimed as she raised her glass.

Gaz scanned the bar to see who was there. There were a lot of new faces, but that was something one came to expect with a place like this.

Sami frowned as she listened to Noah, remembering a long lost memory. "That is what we used to be called. Before we found out that we could become more than one animal. We were called Lycanthropes. Then one of our ancient ancestors found that they could change into whatever they wished, whenever they wished, and from then on we were called Changelings."

Whilst she was talking, Larry had stepped closer to her. She ignored this, until his arm went aroun her waist. This made her skin tingle happily through the cloak, and her heartbeat skipped a beat when he pulled her close to him. He whispered into her ear a question. Sami shook her head. "No threat to us. Just watching."

Sami had realized the girl was just trying to memorize faces, and Sami was making that hard for her. Which would then become hard for Sami later on if they ever needed to help each other with anything and Noah didn't know who she was. She let her face return to normal, tanned skin with brown freckles and a green hue, eyes emerald green again, very close to Noah's own eye color.

Al smiled at Jade, "If she's going to be painted anyway, she might as well look good, though, right?"

When Claxter brought his paints over, Al smiled again at the Andalite. "Or we can go old-school. Believe it or not, speed is still my priority here."

He bent closer to Silver and carefully finished dabbing her neck and shoulders. He then stood up and turned to Jade again. "Let me know if you need anything from me," he said with a slight bow and flourish, which he finished by tucking his handkerchief neatly back into his pocket.
