<Yes, Prince Ossanlin is doing well. You don't have to call the units, you know. We're all people, not machine. Including you.> Claxter said. <I suppose we'll have to wait before Prince Ossanlin says where he wants to station Efaen.>

"This place is interesting, though prolonged stays can wear on someone's nerves." Temrash said.

"What now?" Jagill asked.

"I don't know. If I try anything further, it seems I'll be blacklisted. corliss won't stop being stubborn, and I don't know how to contact a single other person in the rebellion."

<You may remain with me for the time being,> Efaen acknowledges. <I do not trust the Yeerk either, however I find that his presence is a risk I must undertake, if I am to join his supposed rebellion.> She sighs, her tail lowering slightly as she switches to private thought-speech. <<I understand if you look upon me dishonorably, warrior, but I truly believe that this will most directly impact the outcome of this war. I still await Prince Ossanlin's judgment on the matter, of course, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that I will be of little use to the Andalite military. What good am I to this war if I am shuttled back to the homeworld and kept under constant surveillance?>>

<It seems neither of us fit the role that our genders are supposed to take. I don't think badly of you. If something goes wrong, I could always just come rescue you again.> He said jokingly.

Efaen smirks slightly with her main eyes. <I would expect nothing less, warrior,> she says lightly, pleased that her comrade does not hold her with ill regard. <You have already been of great assistance to me, I would not want you to tarnish such a reputation.>

Illim regards Salem suspiciously, but at Mike's approach, he shrugs to the trader with a small smirk. "So you did do it, huh? Well, it looks like any deal you're trying to offer me will have to wait until next time. Unless what you're asking for would be of adequate value to talk you into undoing whatever you did to Corliss's ship?" He spreads his hands with a broader smile.

Claxter began walking towards the skimmer where he saw Corliss and someone else menacing Salem. He said nothing, but kept his eyes on them.

Salem frowned and glanced from Corliss to Illim. He knew full well that Corliss might be bluffing- he'd seen this trick used before. Tell one member of a group that the others gave them up, and they can be effectively duped into admitting the guilt of the whole party. Temrash was supposedly against the empire- he couldn't imagine the Yeerk lasting long if he gave up information so easily.

On the other hand, they might be telling the truth. Temrash, from what he'd heard, was a former Visser. The Vissers were well known for their ruthlessness, so if Temrash had seen a potential benefit to giving him up, Salem didn't doubt that he'd do it in a heartbeat.

He'd have to remember to take this into account, if he had future dealings at the bar. He wasn't used to his clients and targets being in contact with one another. He'd have to come up with a way of making sure his employers didn't sell him out.

Best to play it safe for now.

"That lying Yeerk fingered me? And just like that, you believed him?" He sighed, "Would you all excuse me for a minute?" Heedless of Corliss' Dracon pointed at his back, he spun on his heel and began to stalk in the direction of Temrash's ship.

Al watched as Salem walked off again, and turned to Jasper with a shrug and a bemused smile. He then spun back to Corliss and Illim, "So... how about this weather?"

Efaen falls into step next to Claxter, taking note of Corliss and Illim. As she watches, Salem seems to turn and begin walking away.

<The Yeerks wish to return to their base soon,> Efaen says to Claxter. <It may come about that I am unable to speak with Ossanlin properly before leaving this planetoid. That is...undesirable. I wish to operate within his jurisdiction, rather than create friction between myself and my Prince.> She twitches her tail fretfully.

Terenia has been alone for some time now, and her panic has subsided, allowing her to dwell on the events of the past few hours. So much has happened. Her host nearly died, she was forced to leave the Andalite for probably forever. Corliss had said that word to her. She had taken Mike as a host, not once, but twice, and Efaen had likely blown up her ship. So much had happened, and all she wanted now was...what? To regain a human body that wasn't truly her own?

And what was she going to tell Corliss? In the drama of switching from body to body and the shouts of accusations she had almost forgotten that he claimed to love her. She mentally shudders at the thought of it; it was absurd. Yet she had seen Mike's mind, and she could not deny that he had his own strong feelings for her.

This is impossible, she tells herself firmly. You know better than this, Terenia. Whether he cares for you or not, it will not last. Don't forget what happened to Tamora. People you care about do not last long.

Her emotions torn in a thousand different ways, she continues to swim in irritated squid-like circles, the lack of her usual senses giving her mind far too much time to think.

We looked at the young Andalite. We did not know what to say. Many of our memory engrams were returning to us...we remember our time with Pizali...with her brother. The day I decided not to go to the military. Their support...but I did not remember the day I was assimilated yet.

<Claxter, we...That is, I...am undecided as to what our next course of action should be. We are reverting to our Andalite nature subtly...but we are hesitant. We do not know why we ask of you advise either. You are but a child...an innocent. Can you...do you understand the pain?>

What were we doing, telling our troubles to this juvenile? We could express no emotion on our face. It was physically painful, and We habitually did nit care in the least if our face displayed emotion. Yet...my hearts seemed as if ablaze, lighted by the very weapons that enslaved me.

<We...we...forgive us, Claxter. This is not the proper time, for you or for us. I must...meditate. We will be in the forest. You should not stop me, it is to enhance the healing process.>

Theta turned and galloped off into the woods behind Ossanlin's ship. He had to get over these mood swings. But the only way to do that was to let go of the collective. And he needed to be alone for that.

Mar smiles a little as he's set into position. It occurs to him that he hasn't been fussed over in a long, long time. Not on his own merit as a person, anyway. Those who tended to him after a battle were doing so because they were afraid of angering him when his body did function, and he was rather used to having a dozen contingency plans for assassination attempts. Yet another peculiar aspect of being stuck in this Bar in the middle of nowhere.

Mar glances up at Elayne and states, "...Bar seems to have winded down, now. But the mix of enemies could explode at any moment, I will rest if it pleases you. Don't feel comfortable doing it here, though. Shall meet the War-Prince when I can stand up, and perhaps Corliss. Need updates. I've been out of it too long."

<I do not really understand your pain, and I am not wise to the ways of the galaxy.> Claxter said to Theta's fleeing back. He didn't know what else to say.

<If you want Prince Ossanlin's permission, and have to wait, but Corliss doesn't want to, then they'll have to leave without you and pick you up later. Prince Ossanlin could send you to the base later. Or perhaps you could give us a call soon. Say, if we haven't received a call within a day or two, we'll find you.> He said to Efaen.

<<That guy just doesn't care if he gets shot at all. Maybe he's wearing laser proof clothes.>> Derrel said, perplexed by Salem's attitude.

<<I do not believe that Prince Ossanlin is privy to the base location,>> Efaen says privately. <<Although I may be incorrect; I am basing my assumption solely on the limited interactions between Prince Ossanlin and the rebel leader. Regardless, I daresay that once I depart it will be difficult to find me.>>

She fixes Claxter with a considering gaze. <<I also presume that it will be difficult to maintain contact with the Andalites once I have departed. Perhaps it would be wise to arrange some sort of communication frequency of which the rebels will be unaware, either between the two of us or between Prince Ossanlin and I.>>

<<A special frequency wouldn't be a bad idea. I assumed that Prince Ossanlin already knows the base's location, but if he doesn't I'm afraid it won't be safe for you to leave without permission. So, do you know what kind of frequency would be good?>>

Efaen shrugs her stalks, uncertain. <<I presume that Prince Ossanlin would be more capable of ensuring secrecy in such matters than I. Computers were never my forte; I am a morphing specialist and, while I have basic training and am certainly more capable than any Yeerk, I would prefer to ensure the highest level of security in such matters. I know that Prince Ossanlin has put a good deal of trust in these supposed rebels, but I cannot imagine that he would balk at maintaining separate contact with me. Perhaps we would even be able to bypass contacting their leader again.>>

A look of carefully maintained concerned annoyance crosses her face. <<I do hope that our Prince regains his strength soon. I would prefer to resolve this issue promptly.>>
