Temrash had long ago found out the average length of an Andalite tail, and could unconsciously jump back just far enough to avoid one. Unfortunately this tail was longer, and he didn't take that into consideration. It left a gash in his chest.

<<Try to lure him partly out of the room, and I'll turn the gravity field to max. That will bring his back end out while letting you get at his head.>> Claxter said.

Temrash went with that idea, and slowly backed away while attempting to deflect the tail with his blades.

<<Thanks,>> Terenia says with a small smile playing on her expression. <<It's nice to know that someone cares. I suppose this won't be a total loss either way. Efaen has to agree to Ossanlin's deal too, so I have to speak with her either way.>>

When they reach the ship where Efaen very clearly is not her smile drops into a snarl of frustration.

"Of course she ran off. Dapsen Andalite..." she surveys the area, as though hoping Efaen will appear out of thin air. "And I don't even have my ship to track her." She gives Illim a sharp look. "Thanks anyways. I guess I'll just wander around hoping the grass eater will respond to my thought speech or something. Unless you have a better idea?"

<<That is true,>> Efaen says slowly. She had not thought of that possibility, which is clearly evidenced by her expression. She seems to be slightly confused, as if the idea of permitting the Yeerks any allowances is more alien and befuddling than anything she has yet encountered. <<However, what is to stop these amenable Yeerks from resorting to their previous methods? They are masters of deception; it would be far too easy for dissenters to arrange a coup.>>

Trey leans forward, interested in Jasper's response, when one of the more unfamiliar patrons approaches Elayne. He is about to greet her until he sees that she is clearly reaching for his companions weapon.

"Hey!" He interjects, jumping to his feet so quickly that his chair tips over backwards with a loud thud. His still mostly full water sloshes dangerously as he shakes the table, spilling onto the warped wood.

They finally roll to a stop. Carris moves to kick her off, but Fiona, moving just faster, pulls a gun out of the holster she's kept hidden under her shirt. She points it at Carris' forehead, making him freeze.

"Listen to me," she says tightly, gritting her teeth. "I'm going to say this once, okay? It's over. No more. I can't give you Fiona back, and chasing me all over the galaxy isn't going to change that. Okay? She's gone. There's nothing I can do about it." She leans forward. "I'm not going to kill you, though hell if I know a reason I shouldn't. But I swear to God, Carris, if you come chasing after me again, I won't think twice about killing you. Understand?"

Carris nods jerkily. What else can he do?

"Good." Fiona stands up, lowering the gun to her side. She holds out her free hand. When Carris takes it tentatively, she pulls him up, then turns him toward the bar. "Go get a drink," she says. "You'll probably need one."

She watches him for a moment as he stumbles toward the bar. She sighs, then raises the gun to her temple and pulls the trigger.

We struck the Hork-Bajir's chest. We followed him as he backed up.

<You will be assimilated. Your resistance is a futile event that will only delay the assimilation of the inhabitants of this asteroid.>

I struck at him again. But then the gravimetric suppression field returned. We fell to the ground, <Your petty efforts to halt your assimilation are merely an annoyance. We will wait. If you terminate this unit, we will send a beter armed force, as we see fit.>

We relaxed the muscles of the Andalite body.

Temrash disengaged from Jagill's brain, and moved to Gremyyt's when Jagill bent down. Moving into the Andalite head was very different. He spent a minute or two gaining control of the body so Theta couldn't attack, then attempted to speak with a mouth that wasn't there. Of course. He'd need to use thought speech.

<You can release me now. I'm in control.> Temrash said, and Claxter released him. <Jagill, you'll need to be patched up. We can return to my ship for that.

<Actually I was hoping you could remain on board and just speak to Gremyyt for me.> Claxter said.

<I'll do that, but you don't have to worry. I'll help you, and won't go running off with Gremyyt. It will be best if I keep Theta under control until Gremyyt is properly freed.>

As they went to temrash's ship, Temrash tried to find information on Alvie and such.

<<Gremyyt. You there? My name is Temrash, and I will help you. Do you have any idea of a way to remove Theta from your body?>>

Another voice! No!

A yeerk...I had never encountered a Yeerk. I wasn't in the military long enough. Now one was in my head, controlling me...

It wasn't like how the Alvie controlled my body. They altered my thought patterns so that I was still technicaly in control of myself, but as an alter ego. The mechanical implants kept me straight and gave me synthetic powers. The Yeerk simply took control, plain and simple.

<<What?>>, I said, <<Remove...temrash? Theta? Mine?>>, I blurted.

<<You are an Andalite.>> Temrash said, feeding Gremyyt images of Andalites, as well as pieces of their world that he had seen in Dome Ships or holograms. <<You've been taken over by a machine, but you are a separate being. I want to help you become a free thinking person again, but I don't know how.>>

They made it to the ship, and stitched up Jagill's wound after giving him some sedatives. He had lost a fair bit of blood, so he was given a transfusion.

Temrash should be able to get all information Gremyyt knew just by scanning his memories, but he wanted Gremyyt to talk to him.

"What is that supposed to mean? ...Are you suggesting that -" Sapttus had jumped in at the mention of temporal discrepancies, but stopped when Jasper interrupted him <<ahem...>><<Oh, sorry. Figure out what this guy means though, okay. Maybe we'll fit right in here in this loony bin after all.>>. Starting again after a second's delay, Jasper said "You mean like time travel? Well, it was '97 when I left... I don't think we were in Z-space that long..."

At mention of 'the war', Sapttus jerked slightly. "Which war would that be, ma'am?" Did they know about the Yeerk invasion of Earth, and if they did, was that a good thing? <<Do we tell them?>> <<I'm not ->> "Whoa, Hey!" Sapttus shouted. He hadn't seen the girl (the same one who'd ignored them) reaching for the Dracon before Treyliss had jumped, spilling water all over the table, and inevitably all over his lap. <<Great..>> Jasper thought, though that was a minor worry. Here was some thug trying to swipe a gun, while some scuffle broke out near the door. It ended with someone blasting their head clean off her shoulders. And it wasn't a Dracon, so 'clean' was relative. In reality, it was a bloody mess. Jasper turned away and was about to vomit. Sapttus was able to stop that by blocking nerve impulses in ways that his friend couldn't. Then together, they got out of their seat, shouting, "What is this place?!?" <<Maybe this was a bad idea after all...>>

Danielle had been watching the events happening on the camera in the control room. She knew how to fix this.....

"Temrash!! There's a z-space tranciever inside his skull!! Thats how he gets direction from the Alvie!! It has to be deactivated...."
Danielle had spent time tracking criminals in the quadrant most influenced by the Alvie collective, and she had gained a vast knowledge of their technology.

Temrash was a little confused that she knew anything about the Alvie, as well as Claxter, but she was right. There was one in the skull. <Alright. The repair ship should have the best tools for the job. Thank you Danielle.> He said. He sent a message for two of the Human controlelrs to come to his ship, and explained to them what was going on. They brought their tools, and started working.

Danielle set the ship to auto and rushed down to where everything was happening to see if she could be of further assistance.

I thought for a second...

<<I...am Gremytt-Pekulon-Thelan. Yes...>>

then it occurred to me...a way out!

<<I...have not been taken over by a machine...but that is a...a different matter. It does not...concern anyone at the...moment.>>

I thought of something to tell him, <<I have a...z-space transceiver...2 inches...under my skull. It allows the collective to...control my musculature and...mind. The mini collective emitting from...my pod...is using it to...manipulate me. If it were...removed...>>, the mini collective halted my thoughts.

<It's two inches under his skull.> Temrash said as the repair crew worked on getting to it through the mechanical part of his head. Claxter and Jagill looked on in anticipation of success.

The ramp of Salem's ship opened with a slight hiss and settled to the ground. Salem blinked as he stepped out and looked around. His ship was now set up to monitor all Z-space alterations caused by Corliss's ship. He'd spent some extra time sifting through his other data, and then just resting, hoping Corliss would make an attempt to contact the Rebellion. That would have made setting up the monitoring system much easier. He couldn't wait forever, though, and eventually decided that he'd have to make do with what he'd set up, and calibrate it to attempt to crack and simulate its encryption later.

He breathed deep- the air of this place was starting to feel a bit like home to him. It wasn't quite the Andalite academy, but it had a certain charm about it. A certain... lunatic charm, he thought to himself with a smirk. He sighed and began walking towards the door. He would have to speak with Temrash about this situation. In the meantime, there were a number of patrons around the bar he wanted to talk to. He still wanted to attempt to trade with Ossanlin- the stubborn Andalite would crack eventually, he was certain. He'd left Elayne and Treyliss sitting at their table, and he still had discussions he'd hoped to have with them. And on top of that, his persona-imaging device had shown something rather odd about the one woman who'd been sitting at the bar building a castle of straws. He didn't know what it meant, but he was curious to speak to her and find out.

As he approached the door to the bar, though, he noticed a body lying on the ground. When he got close, he could see that it was, in fact, the very woman he'd been hoping to speak to. He walked over and knelt down next to her- the hole in her head didn't exactly give him hope for her still being alive, but nevertheless, he checked the pulse in her wrist. Nothing. Disgusted, he stood up, walked through the door of the bar, and looked around. He pulled out his persona scanner and began pointing it at the new faces, each time clicking a button and causing it to trill.

"There is another way I think, a way that would be less risky on the Andalite's sake." Danielle said. She had seen this method used once before. "A small electromagnetic pulse could be enough to disable the reciever without adverse affects to Theta."
