The new model looks kinda like how Marco would look towards the end of the series, like in book 54 (year 2000). Book one was 1997.

Don't get picky. At least we got the right ethnic look for Marco. <.<

yeah, now all we need is the right age. Or at least the right age group

Wow..so yea I just picked up #3 cuz I didn't know it was available. When did they change the release dates? I had thought we wouldn't see 3-6 until 2012.

I love the re-launch and hope they continue to put out more of the series so that I could have both old and new collections completely. What a bookcase that would be!
I went to the window and looked up at the stars. Somewhere up there, around one of those
cold, twinkling stars, was the Andalite home world. Somewhere up there was . . . hope.

<They'll come,> Tobias said. <The Andalites will come. And until then . . . >

I nodded and wiped away my tears. "Yeah," I said. "Until then, we fight."

I think it was always going to be an "every 2 months" thing.

Yeah, the dates never changed. The only 2012 releases that there are, and have ever been, are Books 7 onwards, I believe. Maybe book 6? I can't remember, but I know for a fact that 1-5 have always been 2011-planned releases.

Huh...interesting. Where did you find book 7+ release dates? Can I get a link to check it out?

So, guys. I guess we're stuck with this. We complained about the first Marco model, saying he wasn't hispanic enough. Scholastic listened to us and went to the hard work of finding a new male to be the Marco model. They got a hispanic guy who's either too tall or too old or both. And what do we do? We complain a little more.

No going back now. We're stuck with this guy for the next few years.  :-\

Actually, Hotpinkcoffe was the one who got the petition started. I thought the old Marco was alright. The new guy is good, too but you can't help but pick at how tall he is.

Yeah, if you go back through the thread, you'll also notice that I saw nothing wrong at all with the previous Marco and thought the whole Petition thing was, to be honest, completely overreacting to such a minor thing (especially since the original skin color doesn't even show on the new covers!). Well, I hope all those who signed it are happy.

Huh. I guess, technically, that means we can "blame" her. That is, if we collectively wanted someone to blame for the new Marco. Which we don't!

I mean, come on. With that guy being as old and tall as he is right now, they (Scholastic) are going to have to get a new Marco model soon, just like they did with the late 90s-era models. When that time rolls around, we can petition all we want for a shorter, younger Marco.

The kids, in the books, are 13-16 years old, from 1997 to 1999 and a bit of 2000. (The books were published from the second half of 1996 to the first half of 2001. I'm just spewing trivia now, so I'll shut up.

Actually, they don't need to get a new model when he grows even more. Seeing as how they're going with JUST faces for the new covers, there's only so many angles they can use with that, they just need to have him in for one day of shooting, shoot all the different angles of his face that they can get, then one or two full-body ones for the website, and then they have everything they'll need for the next 50+ books. I'd be surprised if they didn't do that, with all the models.

Well, then why didn't they do that for the original release(s)? They let the kids grow up, and they had to keep taking new pictures of them, resulting in about three or four persons per character!

Off memory: 2 or 3 Jakes, 3 Marcos, 2 Tobiases, 2 Rachels, 1 Cassie (Biko), 1 Ax/"Phillip". Plus vauge looks at older Jake, Loren, Eva, a fighter pilot, Dude (Orson), and other unnamed minor characters.

Because they didn't think about it? hence why they're doing it that way now (If that is what they're doing). Learn from mistakes. Plus there are far more possible posses when you use a full body as opposed to just a face close-up, and they didn't know what posses they would need that early on, especially since they didn't even know how many books there would be at that point.
