Ya, I went to Books-A-Million to check on the new arrivals and to see on my copy and was told that Books-A-Million cancelled my copy but didn't refund me. Sooo... Ya. *fumes*

I haven't seen Animorphs in the local bookstores for a long time. The last book I saw out was #6

Hmms, if the goal was to see if there was enough interest to continue the series, I think what would have made more money was to just continue the series, then all of the old fans would be hooked right off the bat.  Then you could sell E-books for any new fans that want to read the originals.

Oh well, I guess fanfic will have to do.  :(

I still wonder if it would have gone differently if Scholastic had completely overhauled and updated the series, or if it wouldn't have made a difference. I can see some kids being a little turned off by the lack of all the stuff they're used to, like tablets and smartphones and Facebook, but I can also attest to how paranormal and fantasy series seem to dominate today...they're all over at the library where I work.

Well see, you hit a BIG point there. Paranormal/Fantasy has taken over in books. And now NOVELS are more in vogue than chapter books for kids, IMO.

So I'm guessing the re-release was the fail that I thought it would be -____-

This might seem weird but I'm glad the re-release failed.  It just wasn't Animorphs with the changes and new covers.

I never did pay close attention to when the rerelease was happening, or what all the changes were. aside from the covers, which I knew about. What other changes did they make?

No more cover quotes, no more flip book thingies, and updated the book. I think that's about it

I think the "update" or "editing" that was done was the only thing I didn't really have a problem with. I mean it did make me miss the original published ones with all it's quirks and "bloopers", but with this at least it stuck closer to the rules KAA had pretty much wanted.

Does anyone have a copy of the Alien re-release, or did Scholastic never get around to releasing it?

If someone DOES have a copy, could you do me a favour and post it some how so I could see the Andalite model? It's driving me mad :P
