Alice:
As we started to move back toward the car park, I 'morphed' back into the 20-something lady to push Eddie's wheelchair. When I asked him if he had sat-nav, he quickly produced one from his pocket to show me. I quickly programmed it with the location of the house we were to meet Jenny, and handed it back to him. He didn't even ask how I knew how to program a sat-nav I'd never seen before, let alone using the GPS coordinates instead of street-address, for which I was thankful. - Any time I can avoid a direct lie is a good time, especially in the case of this boy who like plain-looking Alice so much.
Kasey had already asked about the list with our names on it. I did not answer straight-away because I didn't like the idea I'd come up with for getting it back. Instead I waited to see if anyone would come up with a better idea, including my fellow Chee.
In response to Reece's question about surveillance cameras in the car park, I answered:
"I didn't see any cameras when I looked earlier... But I'll double-check before we all go waltzing through it this time around."
Over Chee-net I added {Could someone hack the DMV and make sure Eddie's license plate can't be traced back to him or his address? It might also be a good idea to back-trace anyone who tries to track his plates... We don't want Yeerk-controlled police pulling us over.}
Nearly everyone had spoken to Jenny now, only one or two remained silent including wet-hair girl. I left my cell on speakerphone, just in case they'd only been waiting their turn to speak.
There was an idea about us returning to this building when we could all morph, and getting the list out then, but there was a quicker way:
"I suppose... I could try and sneak into the building myself, to retrieve that list..." I suggested. A single person would be less likely to be detected sneaking around than a whole group, especially if that group were in fighting-morphs. It was quite scary to think of going alone into an enemy building, knowing I might be captured, but it did make sense to try and get that list as soon as possible. Also, if I was alone, I wouldn't have to try so hard to pretend I could morph... Besides, if all went well a piece of paper was easier to remove from the building than a person.
To change the mood slightly, along with the subject, I followed my idea with the question: "So who wants to take the first trip with Eddie, and who wants to wait with me for the second trip?"
