Prologue: Origins

[Brad the Brit]

"Don't call me Dexter you bloody idiot!". Brit clenched his good hand into a fist, trying not to let his temper get the best of him. "Try walking in a straight line, and then tell me 5 colours". He looked at Reece " eather way this is no time for a argument, weather your high or otherwise".

[Breekan1]

Reece rolled his eyes at Brad's clenched fist. "Oh put that thing away, kid. Swimming is one of the most physically demanding sports there are- you wouldn't get past the ten-yard line." Reece offers up a friendly smile. "Okay? And if we're dead-set on following this Nightmare Hallucination to its conclusion, at the very least I refuse to leave Sandra behind."

[Brad the Brit]

Brit grinned swimming was all well and good, but he doubted the kid would last 10 seconds in boxing ring. "Listen I'm all up for saving Sandra i was there remember! If i had know i would have saved her then and there! But we need to put are own safety first! If we go now we will all be infected or killed!

He stood "we run now and save the others later. After we have a plan". He looked down at the floor almost ashamed at his own reasoning.
He sounded like a coward..... 

[Damien]

Damien stepped between the two fighting people,"Bickering won't..."he hesitated,"help us at all in our current situation, make it worse actually," he looked down for a second,"if we are on drugs or something, and if we are all imagining this etc would you want to take the chance that this is real?"he asked Reece looking at him,"But I agree with Brit, we can't go back, they have better weapons and more people..."he seemed to want to say more but lost his moment of peacemaker, he began to walk away. "Please turn off your cellphones, if you have any, like a said before they can be tracked by GPS..."

[Breekan1]

Reece gives Brad a hard look. A plan was something they could formulate once their heads were clear- once they had a better idea as to what was going on. Clear heads could save Sandra. Maybe. Reece tried not to let his jaw clench too tightly.

"It sounds like we all agree that getting somewhere safe is a good idea. That'll give us time to come down from the high, or if we really are living in an Outer Limits episode, figure out what the **** we do next. And once we've got it figured out, then we can do something about Sandra." He affected an optimistic grin. He took out his phone. He nodded at Damien, and tried not to feel silly as he turned the stupid thing off. Get along, he told himself. Don't **** this up.

[Seryna]

"I'm fine." The girl with wet hair said quietly. She was twisting her hair around her fingers, wringing out the water onto the woodlands floor.

"Thanks to you. You..."  She looked to Alice and then those who had attacked the people who had been dragging her back to the pool.
"You saved me from what she said,"  She indicates Alice.  She wipes her wet hands on her jeans, visibly shaking.

"-that... that was... I've never been so scared in my life.  You're not on drugs. This is real. They forced my head back into a sauna, something touched my ear-"

The girl shuddered visibly, wrapping her arms around herself in a hug.

[Kit Cloudkicker]

Kasey's breathing speeds up as she begins to truly process what she's hearing. A look of disgust crosses her face. "In your..head? They hide...in your head, and...control you?" She sits down on the ground, and and pulls her legs up to her chest, pressing her face into her knees. She sits like this silently for a few moments.

Suddenly, he head jerks up, and she stares straight at Alice, her eyes wide and terrified. "We all signed in on that sheet.  They know who we are. They know who our families are. What does that mean? They're going to be coming after us tonight, and they're going to have our families before morning, aren't they? They're going to have us if we go home..." She scrambles back onto her feet, and swallows hard, her face turning slightly green.

[Brad the Brit]

Brit walked over to the girl with wet hair. He had connected the dots. “May I see your ear”, he asked softly. He saw the questioning faces around him. “Well you see there is no direct rout to the brain through the ear canal. So this Yeerk thing must bore into the skull through the flesh and bone. If I'm right there will be a small amount of blood on the inside of your ear“.

He moved to look inside the girls ear……   

[Seryna]

"What?" The girl wondered, moving away from Brit. "It just touched me, it never... you know, got in me. I freaked out and ran out and found you guys.

How come your making all these guesses? You're pretty young for a doctor."

[Brad the Brit]

"Nurse..... and I'm good at biology" Brit lifted both hands, "sorry I'm probably just being paranoid".

[Seryna]

"You can't be a nurse, you're like sixteen." The girl scoffed.

"But any way, I don't know how it works. Its sort of weird that you think you do after like, 30 seconds. We're sure he's not a Yeerk?"

[Damien]

Damien stepped up to the girl,"He is making a logical guess,"he said quietly,"Alice, I think that is her name, said the yeerk gets inside your head and take control of your actions, access your memories, etc, to do that you need to be at the brain,"he continued,"looking at your ear posses no problem for you, if he was a yeerk he wouldn't be able to do anything, he couldn't transfer to your body without leaving his host, meaning that his host will then have control and blow his cover..."he finished and placed a hand on her shoulder,"Please, you need to calm down..."

[Seryna]

"So you guys all know that Yeerks- what did you say?" She glances at Brad. "Tunnel in through the ear and that there'd be blood along my inner ear?"

She gave Alice a confused look. "When did you tell them that? I was standing right here and I didn't hear that."

[Damien]

"She didn't need to tell us that, that is the only way to your brain through your head... and didn't you say something touched your ear?"Damien asked,"We're doing what humans do best, think, make logical decisions.... reason,"Damien said, he backed away from the girl giving her space, she was seriously freaking out, and he didn't blame her,"Please calm down... if we wanted to harm you and if we were yeerks we could easily take you back or kill you, you saw those weapons they had..."

[Seryna]

"I'm confused." The girl frowned at Damien. "Why do you think I'm upset? I mean I did almost get turned into one of those things... I guess I'd rather every one stay away from my ear right now.

I'm not upset with you guys. I did thank you for saving me."
