~Rathien~

Rathien shrugs and nods toward Salem.  "I suppose Tobias was the original reason.  It seems to be a rather interesting place though."

Rathien smiles a bit.  "Well I've worked for Andalites and Imperials alike, but I suppose not every Yeerk is apprised of such relatively unimportant events.  Not many of my species leave Ildiar so I suppose it's not that surprising that you've not heard of us.  They're a bunch of peaceful philosophers, the lot of them.  Boring if you ask me, but then they consider me genetically inferior.  They were as happy about my leave-taking as I was, I just couldn't stand their attitude.  So I've come out and about and learned things they'll never know."  He takes another sip of his liquor.

Parker shook the man's hand and nodded saying, "Fair enough 'Civilian Connor'. I guess the military isn't for everyone. No, neither the designation, nor the armor are standard in any way. I'm a part of the SPARTAN-II program; and this armor can only be operated by someone like me. If you or any other person attempted to use it, it would tear them apart. I was genetically and surgically altered to enhance my strength, mind, and reflexes. Some would say we SPARTANs are super-Human; others just call us freaks. We call ourselves soldiers. Ready to fight and die for the Human right to survive.

"This armor specifically though is even more rare among other SPARTANs. It denotes honor and status." he nods backward toward the hilt of his Katana, "The sword is again even more prestigious than the armor itself."

Parker changes the subject, "So, you just popped in here too, huh? We've got a few patrons like that. What were you doing before you ended up here?"

Connors head hurt a little bit, with all the information he was taking in "Spartans, katanas, alternate demensions its all a lot to take in, but as for me I was actually just headed back from the bar when I appeared outsided. So if they take my money here can I buy you a drink, one navy man to another?"

Parker shook his head and nodded backward, "Sorry civvy, but with the company we've got in close proximity right now, I don't feel too comfortable taking off my helmet." He leans a little closer and says, "Besides, I'm already on someone else's tab. Luckily for him, I'm not too big on drinking a lot," he taps his helmet, "dulls the senses."

Connor tensed for a minute upon hearing the fact there eas something around here that could be up to no good. "I can appreciate that sir. Maybe I could help you figure out what is going on, I can get to places most cant without being seen"

Parker shook his head again, "No need. I know what's going on. The question is, is it going to blow up; or are the two going to play nice? You'll find out, should you stick around long enough, this place can get noisy fast." He then commented, "I appreciate the offer though."

Parker nodded toward Ossanlin and asked, "So, where's your lackey? I haven't seen him in a while."

Esreth raises her eyebrows. "I can understand the exploring bit," she says. "I was stuck in a pool for two years before I was given to Terenia, and something like that will definitely make you want to get out and see the sights." She hesitates, then adds, "Not so sure I would count killing people off as very high on my list of favorite hobbies. I mean, violence kind of comes with the territory of being in a war, but it's not exactly fun."

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin falls silent as the two human converse, then looks up at Parker when he addresses him.  <Do you mean Claxter?  I assume he's out feeding or enjoying the fresher air outside.  I gave him some restricted leave time.>

Rathien shrugs noncommittally.  "People have to die, it's a part of living.  And there are times when each person is supposed to lose the Dream.  I'm simply one of those chosen by Fate to execute her Will.  It's really as simple as that.  Of course, the very thing that alienated me from my own species drives me to hunt, and there's not a more satisfying prey animal than those that can bite back."  He swirls the liquor around in his tumbler.  "But if it's not your time, I'm really quite nice."

Connor turned to the Andalite, and said "you seem knowledgeable enough about all this and whats going on, would you be able to tell me if in all the univereses you know of that the Andalites and yeerks are fighting in a terrible war?

Salem moved aside as Parker got up and went to speak with the newcomer.

At Jocun's reaction, Salem laughed, "You and everyone else I meet. I keep hoping someone will be able to show me how to use these things." He stuck the crystal back in his case and began rummaging.

"Hmm... I do have some paint mixing information from Slick Brenda's. None of their new stuff, of course. They wouldn't be the leading paint shop in the galaxy if they just gave away all their secrets. There are a few colors that could almost pull off camouflage, though." He pulled out a small, cubical computing device and set it on the counter. The device began projecting some images into the air. Salem began leafing through the displays in front of him with his fingers.

"Let's see... Iridescent Ultraviolet, Gamma Red, Shimmer, Soul Scarring Black, which is a personal favorite of mine- same color as my ship, if you've seen that in the yard- and," he grinned, "information for imagesafe painting. Basically, if you paint a design or image into something, this paint will make sure the image is seen exactly the same way, no matter the angle or direction it's viewed from. Sound decent?"

"That sounds good." Jocun said, partly to not sound too picky. He wasn't sure if the paint would do a lot better than what he had, but it would at least be enough to make them even. "not sure if I'd pick something called soul scarring as my favorite color." He said jokingly. "I appreciate it."

Parker nodded toward Ossanlin, "Well, either way, it's good to see you up and about again." He extended his hand to him to shake his hand, "Last I saw you, you weren't looking too hot."

Esreth snorts a little. <<Sounds like he'd get along real well with Terliss,>> she says dryly. Terenia doesn't respond, her distaste palable.

"I suppose I should be grateful that it isn't my time, then," she says aloud to Rathien, giving him a small smile and sipping her beer. "Last I checked there were still far too many people out there waiting for me to grace them with my presence. Dying just wouldn't fit in the itinerary." She winks at him.

Gene is still staring at the spot where the holographic man had vanished. He blinks out of his reverie, leaning away from the edge of the bar counter with a sigh.

His eyes track around the room, landing on Rathien and Terenia, and finally on Ossanlin. He doesn't realize he is staring again for a few heartbeats, and he quickly blinks and looks away again.

"Bartender," he murmurs sullenly, "could I have a beer?"

The bartender watches Gene, unblinking, before sliding the yellow notepad over.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin moves his main eyes from Parker to Connor and back, clasping his many-fingered hand to the armor-gloved hand of the strange human soldier.  <Yes, I'm afraid my memory is somewhat...fogged.  I was not well.  I believe that aside from exhausting myself, I fell afoul of some sort of temporal-spacial anomaly, perhaps spawned from using my...abilities.>

He moves his main eyes back to Connor.  <I'm afraid I don't know much about any universe aside from my own, but theory would suggest there are infinite Universes ranging from those where Andalites never ran across the Yeerks to those where the Yeerks never found Earth, or those where Andalites, Yeerks, and humans never even existed, and everything in between.>

~Rathien~

Rathien raises an eyebrow.  This Esreth seemed to be engaging in "humanoid" versions of flirting, though what she's really thinking he cannot say.  She does not behave typically for a Yeerk, and that makes her interesting.

"Most people aren't grateful for the time they have.  I'm sure there are many waiting for you to 'grace' them with your presence.  So tell me, Esreth, what do you enjoy the most about 'humanoid' experience?"  He continues to smile winningly, making almost constant eye-contact.
