"Hm." Esreth considers this question seriously, swiveling the bar stool back and forth as she thinks. "Well, there are the usual benefits. You know, added senses and whatnot. But really, I think the best part about being human is the added mobility. I like meeting new people, and being stuck in a pool with the same couple dozen Yeerks can become quite tedious after a time."

She grins and gestures idly to the bar as a whole. "It's one of the reasons I like this place so much. It tends to bring in...interesting crowds." Her grin widens a little. "Of course, Terenia isn't quite in agreement with me over the importance of socialization."

<<That's an understatement,>> Terenia quips darkly.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin shrugs.  <The theory suggests everything ever possible in the future or past has or will happen in one universe or another.  Literally infinite realities, each one differing from every other in some way.>

"Ah, I suppose so.  I suppose I take many things for granted."  He glances at Salem again.  "I do know a little about what it's like to be tied down...it's not pleasant."  He moves his eyes back to Terenia.  "But I was talking more along the lines of sensory perception..."

Salem smiled, "Good choice. I'm not sure Yeerks have all the materials and technologies needed to mix every paint in here, but you should still be able to experience some truly mind-blowing stuff." He laughed, "Almost literally, in some cases. Depending on the species viewing them, some of these paints can be... more than a little distracting." He turned off the cube-like computing device and held it out to Jocun. "Computer's thought or voice activated, and pretty intuitive- it should be able to figure out what you want it to do. It'll require physical contact to get started, at least until it's used to you. Should recognize Gallard, Hork-Bajir, and a nice collection of others. Not Yeerkish yet, I'm afraid," he said with an apologetic smile.

"Not Yeerkish? That's the best one." He said jokingly. "So what are you going to be up to now? Leaving before Rathien decides to have another shot at you? Or perhaps looking for other trinkets to add to the collection?"

"They all have their benefits," Esreth says thoughtfully. "I suppose...oddly enough, the human sense I enjoy the most is touch. Obviously that's something I can experience in my natural form, but there is something far more--" She grins, thinking of Corliss, "--primal about touch within humans. Yeerks touch one another to communicate even the most basic conversation. For humans...touch has far more sophisticated nuances. Barring that, taste is pretty fantastic as well."

~Rathien~

Rathien smiles at the mention of touch, as well as Esreth's usage of the word 'primal'.  "Both fine choices...both indulgent choices."  He grins a little wider, baring his fangs.  "Here I thought every Yeerk liked sight the best, but I prefer touch as well.  Not that I am or ever have been a Yeerk.  I can't imagine such a constrained life."

"Of course certain regions of the body contain many more nerve endings than others.  For instance, have you been infesting Terenia during one of those lovely endorphin baths our brains give us when we fulfill our most primal instincts?"  His wide grin takes on a slightly devlish quality, watching Terenia and Esreth closely to gauge reactions.

Esreth blinks and Terenia's cheeks flush a little. When she speaks, though, her tone remains casual enough. "I did not say I enjoyed the sensation of touch for no reason," she murmurs with a smirk. "My first human host was a thirteen year old girl, and on Earth nonetheless, so my experiences were limited to what was deemed socially acceptable. Terenia...well, there is certainly a notable difference between a young adolescent and an adult engaged in an intimate relationship. Quite a few Yeerks shy away from that particular aspect of humanity, but..." Esreth shrugs, her smirk widening. "I always thought the point of taking a host was to experience it as completely as possible."

<<Are you seriously talking about my sex life to this turelek?>> Terenia demands, both offended and mortified.

"My presence," Esreth continues, at Terenia's expense, "has, of course, had the added benefit of getting my host to loosen up a little. Poor girl was terribly uptight when it came to such things."

<<Esreth!>>

Parker nodded and let go of Ossanlin's hand. He commented, "Is that after you helped out Terenia? That's gotta take a lot out of you; rearranging someone's DNA and all."

Salem laughed. Jocun was probably toying with him, but at least the guy was amiable.

"Neither, actually. I've got too much other business to take care of. Can't let Mr. Trigger Happy over there get in the way." He paused, "If you're offering 'trinkets,' though, we might be able to work something out."

"We'll see, if I think of something." Jocun sipped his drink as he turned his attention to the other patrons. Rathien seemed like he could be civil when he wasn't out to kill someone, which was good. He just wasn't the kind of person Jocun would trust very far. Not that it seemed he should trust Salem very far anyway. He had spoken to a lot of people at the bar, but he didn't think he had made any close connections aside from people who weren't here anymore.

<It was so easy back at the Empire, where people actually gave a crap about my position.>

<I won't deny that.> Simon said. <I think we're doing pretty well, though. Nobody hates us, though Parker really dislikes us.>

<Yeah, but I don't think he'll kill us. Not that I have anything that could stop him, aside from threats of military retribution.>

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin nods and shrugs.  <Any time I ascend...well my body isn't made for it.  Each time takes its toll.  The actual re-imprinting of her DNA was not that difficult, but maintaining my ascended state always is.  The exhaustion was not so much from the procedure as it was from having to maintain that higher state for such a long period of time.  The temporal shift did not help much either.  Over a year has passed on the outside, and apparently I have been in both places at once.  I do not know how it happened, but I do know that my psyche did not appreciate it.>

Rathien smirks, still running his tongue over a fang, imagining what Esreth meant.  "Yes, delightful experience isn't it?  You do seem remarkably relaxed for a Yeerk."  He pauses, thinking over Esreth's comments.  "So does that mean you've engaged in one of those nonsensical exclusive pair-bonds that humans are so fond of?  They're so restrictive, and for no real reason..."

"Technically it isn't a pair-bonding if there are four of us," Esreth points out with a smirk. "But yes, Corliss, Mike, Terenia and I are in a 'nonsensical exclusive bond', if that is what you wish to call it. And they are restrictive in some ways, I suppose, but not in the ways that matter." Her smirk widens. "You just need a good imagination."

In the forest behind the building that was locally known as the Galaxy's Edge Space Bar, a sudden cold chill surrounded a small clearing. All of a sudden, a small electrical storm started brewing in the area.

In a flash of lightning, a perfectly spherical object appeared as if from thin air, slamming into the ground, leaving a small crater, about one meter in diameter. As the smoke and dust cleared, the sphere seemed to vanish to nothing, revealing naught but a lone Samurai dressed in a white Keikogi and Hamaka with a 4 foot katana sheathed at his hip, kneeling in the crater.

His jet black hair, which is usually tied in a topknot, hangs down to his shoulders, and his piercing blue eyes survey his surroundings. Standing at 5 foot 9 inches, he dusts himself off.

Hmm, he thought I wonder where that blasted demon has sent me...

Spying a rundown looking building in the distance through the trees, he decided to head towards it in hopes of discovering where he had ended up.

*****

After slashing his way through all the overgrown bushes and trees, he finally makes it to the door of the building. Hand hovering over the hilt of his Katana, ready to fight, he nudges the door slightly open with one of his sandled feet.

His eyes going wide at all the different beings inside, he gathers that it must be some sort of bar. Hesitantly, he walks inside and looks around at all gathered, with a rather perplexed look on his face, hand still poised over the hilt on his Katana.
