Parker rolled his eyes at Jocun again, "Another winner at topics." He replies to the earlier conversation, "Yeah, that ability definitely helps. So have you put a little more training into using your firearms then? I can help out with that if you'd like. I've used some weird energy weapons and I don't miss easily."

"I'm not the best shot," Terenia admits. "Definitely nowhere near as good as Corliss. It's kind of terrifying how good he is." She shrugs. "I can't really hold a Dracon in my left hand anymore. Took a Hork-Bajir blade to the back, and my muscles are still weak. But I could use some practice with my right, I guess. Couldn't hurt, right?" She smirks, a little ruefully.

Parker nodded, "A couple friends and I set up a firing range in the wood. We could go shooting if you'd like. How long have you been on becoming ambidextrous?"

"Your commentary is much appreciated, Parker, as unneeded as it is." Jocun said, stressing the word unneeded while trying to remain polite. He'd tell Parker he could just leave, though since Terenia seemed to like Parker better, she was likely to leave with Parker. "I have a top not medical facility if you want me to look at that wound, Terenia. I may be able to return more function to your arm."

"It's an old wound," Terenia says with a shrug. "It's already healed as much as it's likely to. We have a pretty damn good doctor ourselves. No offense, but I don't really trust people that aren't Sam poking around my war wounds. Especially people I just met."

She turns to respond to Parker. "I'm not, not really. I just always felt more comfortable having two weapons strapped to my holster instead of one. I've never been a very good shot with my left."

"I can understand if you don't trust me. I'm glad to know you have a good doctor. I just wanted to throw that out there, since our technology is over a century past what you've seen, and has integrated tech from every species in the galaxy. I'm a fairly good shot myself, but since I usually rely on bodyguards I can't say I'm an expert sharpshooter. The best I can say is I know how to handle a dracon, keep it in good working order, and not shoot myself with it."

Parker smiles at Jocun slightly and continues his conversation, "I understand that completely," he says as he points to the three rifles on his back that are all crossed by a samurai sword, "it's nice to have back-ups." He pats his thighs, "Lots of back-ups." He looks to Gene and asks, "You in Gene?"

As Salem morphed, his head seemed to clear- an unusual, and welcome, sensation. By the time the Kafit's many wings finally sprouted from his back- the last piece of the morph to take place- he felt nearly like himself again. He also felt extremely worn-out. He hadn't slept in... hours? Days? Weeks? However long it'd been, he was feeling it now. At least the majority of the pain was gone- a relief even in the unfamiliar bird body.

He finally managed to take stock of his situation. He was still mostly draped in his cloak and clothing. Rathien was still on the ground beside him. No telling how long that would last. Ideally, he'd try to squirm free of the clothing, fly off, and come back for it later, but he wasn't about to leave his equipment here for the hunter to pick over. With a weary sigh, he reversed the morph. His sharp beak almost immediately shlupped back into his face so fast it startled him.

By the time Rathien came to his hands and knees, Salem was around halfway through his demorph, and struggling to kick his way out of his cloak with his awkward, lengthening legs. When Rathien came up and snarled, Salem craned his bird neck to look at him with a head that was almost human. This was not good. He couldn't be in a more helpless position. He attempted to concentrate harder, to force the morph to move faster, with no noticeable success. All he needed was another minute or so.

~Rathien~

Rathien continues to bare his fangs, looking at the half-morphed Salem.  It would be so easy...so easy just to snap his neck, take off his head...and then what?  Die a horribly painful death?  It might be preferable to what Tobias would have him do, and the death of the "trader" was certainly some commisseration....a lot of commisseration, but then it wouldn't really be death.  Thienal had told him about some sort of "backup" unit onboard Salem's precious little ship.  One that would allow him to reincarnate after a fashion.  If Rathien were alive to destroy the ship after killing Tobias, that would be a moot point, but if Tobias's death would mean his as well...

He grudghingly sheathes his fighting blades.  His fingers itch to grab his Entroper, but he keeps them away.  He forces himself to his feet, pain still radiating from every part of him, but the pain seems to be ebbing more and more.  Apparently Tobias didn't mean to kill him right away after all.  He watches Tobias demorph with disdain.

Terenia blinks at Jocun's rapid manner of speaking. "Um. That's good. Knowing how to not shoot yourself is good," she says reluctantly.

"I can appreciate being well armed," she murmurs to Parker, raising her eyebrows a little. "But isn't there a such thing as overkill?"

Gene's eyes widen. "Oh," he says, holding up his hands. "I think I've fired a gun, of any kind, maybe a handful of times in my life--and not once was I in control of my own body while I was doing it." He smiles. "I'll watch."

Parker shakes his head at Terenia, "If you knew what I dealt with every day, you'd want more. The Covenant has seemingly an infinite amount of troops. There are so many different types of aliens in this Covenant. There's no such thing as overkill in my war."

He then shrugs to Gene and replies, "That's why we have firing ranges. You can shoot all day and not kill yourself or anyone else. Practice makes perfect."

"It can't hurt to have a little target practice. Lead the way, Parker." Jocun siad, finishing his meal and drink. Having a bit of alchohol in his system probably wouldn't effect him too much, since he was used to high class wining and dining.

~Raile~

Raile shrugs and gestures blandly with his glass as a noncommittal response.  If Garreth says that these responses won't affect his actions in any way, even on the subconscious level, then there can be no discussion of danger.  Perhaps he's right, if he has truly mastered every last facet of his mind, even his subconscious, that statement could have a slim possibility of being factual.  Perhaps the statements will make Garreth take actions he is supposed to take to keep the timeline proper, and if one was to believe that, then there was simply no danger in anything Raile said, though Garreth seemed to believe both things...that information about his timeline's near future would cause him to skew away from proper actions, but that information on the future that would almost doubtlessly skew his actions in at least a minor way, would not be detrimental at all.  This entire thought process passes through Raile's head in no more than a few seconds and he shrugs again.

"The way I see it Garreth, either nothing I say will damage your timeline as my actions will skew yours into where they are supposed to be to maintain history, or everything I say will damage your timeline as anything I reveal to you about my history, which we assume to be your future, will alter your path in some way, even if you don't know it.  It's one or the other, there is no middle ground.  So either we talk openly about my past and present, or avoid the subject entirely.  It doesn't make sense to accept some information from your future and deny the rest.  Quite frankly, your path has already been drastically altered by meeting me in the first place.  If what I say and do with you can alter my present, then my present has already been destroyed irreparably.  Yet I still exist, so I'm loathe to believe that.  I'll leave the decision to you.  I see no danger, but I wouldn't want to speak on something that might make you feel uncomfortable...tha t would simply be uncourteous and rude."

Garreth nods, "Yes, but there is a difference between your past and your history. Your past is a fine subject. It doesn't affect me in the slightest. I can't affect your past, I can however affect your history; hell, I am your history. So if we stay on the subject of your past and present and stay away from your history, we'll be fine."

Garreth decides to move the conversation along, "So, if the entire army is made of droids, what stops the enemy from overriding their programming?"
