"I realize this," Zorish says to Al shortly. "At the moment leaving does not seem to benefit me any more or less than staying, though, so I'll remain. Perhaps I will get lucky and Myitt will decide to show his face."

He raises his eyebrow at Mar. "As I said, I am looking for someone. Although now that their appearance seems less than likely I am merely...ah...I suppose 'people watching', as this human said." Zorish nods his head towards Al. "And Teresa is not my sister, she is the sister of my host. I care nothing for the child. Her existence is irrelevent."

<Can we just get this over with!?> Terenia cries, her nerves translating as anger when Ossanlin proposes something that will take even more time. She does not know that Corliss has responded, deaf as she is, but Ossanlin's thought-speak makes it sound as though he is stalling. Maybe because he doesn't know what the hell he's doing, a voice inside her head prods. She forces the thought back.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin shakes his head and closes his eyes.  <This will not be pleasant...for anyone.  Efaen come closer please.  Serid, find somewhere that you can see if you desire.>

He concentrates on his perception of reality, expanding his thoughts and his mind to see the layers between the layers.  His fur, blade, and hooves flash to silver.  He opens his eyes, now actually glowing sky blue instead of merely seeming unusually bright as they do when he is in his natural form.  He regards the people around him and their energies.  <We are ready then.>  His thought-speech seems fuller, stronger, like it might be coming from more than one direction.  The air shimmers around him as he plunges a many-fingered hand into the container holding Terenia's defenseless body, his palm descending directly toward her.  At the same time he reaches out and grips Efaen's human wrist, the fingers of his other hand forming a cage around Terenia, his grip tightening until the flesh of his hand makes contact with her body.

He closes his eyes again and delves into Terenia's biological memory, sifting through genomes, DNA patterns, tens of thousands of individual nucleotides.  He does the same with Efaen's form, looking for the matching tags in Terenia's DNA.  Efaen's pattern seems almost ephemeral...because of the morph, but slowly it was growing stronger.  In small, almost imperceptible increments it was imposing itself over Efaen's actual DNA.  This must be the reason for the two hour time limit as he had suspected.

Slowly Ossanlin begins drawing Terenia's original nucleotides forth using Efaen's morph as the guide.  He brins pieces to the forefront, making sure of every nucleic acid before doing so.  Mixing genetic patterns would almost certainly kill the poor girl.  Steadily he works, his eyes remaining closed as he burns Terenia's original DNA back onto her cerebral map as her primary...this process might take some time.

Raile takes another swig of his whiskey before he feels some sort of strange reverberation in the Force just outside the bar.  Something was happening.  He glances at Garreth questioningly to see if the other Jedi senses the...pressure...as well.

Garreth was lost in thought over whether his group's actions were truly the correct ones, noble and somewhat necessary as they are. His ale held between his hands, he stares out to nowhere. Reflecting on the words of the council, and trying to feel for any sign of the future from the Force. As he concentrates he feels an odd ripple, not completely unlike what he had felt when the other Jedi had arrived. However this ripple was not one searching for others, this seemed to be some odd emersion of some sorts. He glances toward Raile and meets his eyes, "So you felt it as well?"

Efaen obeys Ossanlin's orders, moving close enough for him to grip her comfortably. The enclosed space, combined with the physical contact, makes her uneasy, but she says nothing, her expression remaining largely impassive until Ossanlin enters his silver blade form. When this happens her human eyes widen and she stares, still hardly believing what she is witnessing, despite having seen it once before.

"Impossible..." she murmurs, shaking her head and glancing around her to see the reactions of the other observers.

Terenia's small, sluggish body curls up on itself automatically at the sudden pressure. She cannot help but imagine the weak Andalite fingers continuing to close around her until they strangle the life from her. Despite her reservations, she holds as still as she possibly can.

<<Corliss,>> she sends him a private message, her fear making even her thoughts tremble. <<I...if something goes wrong, just->> she stumbles over the words, not sure how to articulate her feelings for him. <<Thank you,>> she finally settles on. <<For everything.>>

Derrel didn't really know what to say about Efaen changing shapes. <<Do all Andalites do that?>> He asked Illim.

Corliss watches with growing concern, his shock at Ossanlin's altered state mitigated by his anxiety for Terenia's well-being.

<<My God, he's going to crush her, inn'e?>> Mike says, his silent voice breathless.

<<No,>> Corliss replies quietly, leaning forward to get a better glimpse, <<I don't believe he is.>>

When Terenia's voice rings through their minds, he pauses, covering his mouth with a hand.  Wishing he could tell her everything she'd said, and everything unspoken.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin's concentration doesn't falter as he continues fitting nucleotides into place like the pieces of a puzzle, Efaen's morph like the picture on the lid, guiding each piece.  Though time marches on, Ossanlin is unaware of it as he continues his task.  Seconds become minutes, and minutes stretch on.  He begins to feel some fatigue for staying ascended for so long, but he doesn't allow himself to falter as he continues on without fail.

Finally the last piece slips into place and Ossanlin burns it into place.  He double and triple checks the pattern against Efaen's morph before feeling certain that it is correct.  With a deep breath, he finds the "demorph" command mapped on Terenia's brain and attempts to trigger it, but it would help if Terenia tried it as well.  <Terenia, you remember how to demorph.  You need to try to demorph now.>  His "voice" is still fuller than usual, but it sounds drawn and somewhat tight with his tiredness.

"Yes...it feels odd.  As if something has...grown...in the Force."  He looks at the wall beyond which he can sense the strange growth as if he can see through it.  "This place is...unique.  Do you feel that it warrants investigation?"

<<Not all of them,>> Illim tells Derrel as he watches the proceedings from behind the group, <<but all the ones I've met can. It's a technology they created and allow certain members of their society to use.>> He frowns, wondering if it will really work. From his expression, it is clear that he has his doubts. Granted, the change in Ossanlin seems very genuine.

Serid hangs back, the Andalite upbringing and instincts in him disliking confined spaces. Still, he rocks forward onto his toes to get a better look.

Terenia waits in silence as interminable minutes pass at an agonizingly slow speed. When Ossanlin's voice finally fills her head again it takes her a minute to allow the words to penetrate her racing thoughts. Demorph, she tells herself. It had been so long since she had thought to do such a thing, but Ossanlin was right; she remembered how. Stilling her panicky mind she focuses on the human form of her twin sister, the form she had adopted for herself long ago.

She takes care to picture it down to the detail, afraid that if she doesn't the process may be incomplete. She focuses on the straw-colored hair, long and constantly tangled. She focuses on the pale skin, smattered with an over-abundance of freckles that refused to disappear from childhood. She focuses on the flat gray eyes, the lean, almost scrawny frame, and the downturned lips that almost constantly were twisted into a scowl.

Demorph, she murmurs to herself again once the image is complete in her mind. Demorph.

Distantly, she feels the changes begin.

Salem smiled at Simon, "Actually, that's the beauty of my trade. I'm not interested in your money. In fact, I could start you off with something nice at no actual cost to yourself." He listened to the conversation between Keshin and Simon, then laughed, "I'm not actually sure 'here' is any time. All of us come from different times and places, it seems. No consistency. We just happen to meet in this improbable little place."

Al nodded at Mar with a smile, "It definitely suits you. I might have to try to bring that fashion back. It's growing on me." As he said this, ruffles that matched Mar's seemed to grow from the arms and collar of his jacket, slowly. He looked down at them, seemingly annoyed, and brushed them away, so that they fluttered to the ground and disappeared.

He laughed and kicked his feet up on the table. "Irrelevant sister," he said to Zorish, with a wink at Ewa. "Hint taken. So how's life in the empire these days? All I really know about you guys comes from the Andalites, and I have a feeling they're... how to put this... a little biased. It'd be nice to hear tales from the other side of the tracks."

"Ok Salem. Let's see what you have to offer." Simon said. "I guess I won't worry too much about the time, then. Actually I've heard of old time travel stories where the good ending happened because the traveler did something in his or her own past anyway. So who knows, maybe the rebels succeeded because of what Jocun did? That guy will just do whatever he can if he thinks it will help people, without ruining himself in the process."

Corliss feels Mike's breath catch in his throat as he watches Terenia's slimy, submerged form begin to make hesitant, subtle changes.

<<Bloody hell,>> Mike whispers.

The Yeerk clears his throat and nods at Efaen, wincing.  "Efaen, erh," he says quietly, his attention still drawn towards Terenia, "when she demorphs she'll likely not be clothed.  You know how humans are with this sort of thing."

<<Oh, you are not going to ask her to-->> Mike attempts to interject.

"D'you reckon you could lend her your morphing outfit?" Corliss finishes, heedless of Mike's protests.

"It seems most people here are out of context," Ewa remarked in response to Mar.  Kind of hard for it to be otherwise when everyone's been kidnapped from different scapes.  She tapped her glass, her lips still twisted in half a smirk.  "It must be especially bad for you though," she continues.  A fop with an over-developed sense of self-importance gets stuck in a scape where he's technologically barbaric.  Really, this petulance is to be expected.  Her eyes crinkled from the suppressed smile.

She looked back at Al in time to see him shift his clothes.  How'd he get a shifter bar in here?  Ewa raised an eyebrow, but he seemed eminently unconcerned.  "Showoff much?" she muttered quietly.

Katie looked up from her meal to see Ewa socializing. She was getting kinda bored...so much for adventure.

She walked over to her, "What's going on?"

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin feels a small size differential occur in Terenia's slug-like body.  He relaxes from a tension he did not know was there, and immediately he reverts to his natural form.  He had meant to monitor the rest of Terenia's transformation but that wouldn't happen now.  There's no way he could possible will himself into his Silver Blade form again with his tiredness.  So tired of being drained...

He does notice before his contact with Terenia's mind is ripped away by his reversion, that the remorph command for whatever reason had not remapped itself over Terenia's brain.  Perhaps it had gone too long without use.  Whatever the reason, Terenia would not be able to morph again, though he suspects that if she manages to find an Escafil device and a being kind or stupid enough to allow her to use it, she would retain all of her old morphs and would be able to change again.

<She is...demorphing.>  His thought has lost its booming presence and has nothing more than its usual "sound", even a bit weaker than usual and slightly haggard with his lack of energy.
