"This is not your fight, Andalite," Zorish sneers, not looking away from his target. "This creature destroyed my host. That does not sit well with me."

<<Why the hell does an Imperial Yeerk care so much about Tammy?>> Terenia asks Mike silently. She glances at Ossanlin, the thunder of his hooves announcing his arrival just as much as his thought-speak. "If I lower my weapon," she says, loud enough for him to hear how her voice is shaking, "I'm pretty sure I won't be happy with the results." She nods towards Zorish, "Something tells me that her Dracon is not set to stun."

Zorish stands his ground, his previously friendly features twisted with disgust. "I have a right to avenge her death, traitor," he says. "You took her from me. She is mine."

Mar nods carefully, giving Salem his direct gaze. The trader, as far as Mar can tell, really has no idea what he'd be interested in. But he also knows that that ship has collected artifacts from a wide-ranging number of places. An artifact that is a potent source of forged dark matter would be of great interest to Mar---he has seen such curiosities in other universes before, often hiding in plain sight. Salem's knowledge of his own universe may help Mar in another way. He can determine whether he has entered or can enter the place without sentience loss. More interesting than any of these things is acquiring some access to Salem himself...

Mar states, "I'd be willing to look. Objects with some connection to my sort of energy interest me, and they can hide quite easily. Other than a strange urge to keep whatever it was to yourself, you probably wouldn't be able to tell. Information may also be useful--if I can in fact enter your world, it will be worth giving you access to me. We'll see, trader."

Ossanlin frowns.  <She killed a version of your host from another timeline where you are also dead.  What kind of twisted thought-pattern causes you to attempt to avenge the death of someone who's still alive?!>  Ossanlin stamps a hoof again.  <You're out-manned and out-gunned Sub-Visser.>  The thought has a bit of a sneer to it.  <If you meant to go around flashing your Dracon, you should've brought reinforcements.  Now if you don't lower your weapon, you will be stunned, and your poor human host for which you care so much will then have to suffer through the throes of your own agonizing starvation.>

Zorish's expression twitches angrily, cold gray eyes flashing with fury.

<<Stop, Zorish!>> Tamora cries. <<He'll kill you!>>

<<This bar is crawling with Yeerks,>> Zorish responds, sounding uncertain, <<The Andalite will not be able to best me.>>

<<Traitor Yeerks,>> Tamora reminds him. <<Zorish, please. No one here is loyal to the Empire and I can't bear lose you too. This isn't you, you don't kill people for no reason. You're not a murderer!>>

<<I have a reason,>> he snarls. <<This Terenia destroyed you.>>

<<Only because you had already been destroyed,>> Tamora says, scrambling for a way to convince him to lower his weapon. <<Isn't Myitt more of a threat than this person? As long as you are here, no one can hurt me.>> She whimpers in the back of her mind. <<Please, Zorish...for me...>>

Growling outwardly in frustration Zorish slowly lowers his weapon, jamming it into his holster and raising his hands, palms outward. "As you command, War-Prince," Zorish says flatly, taking a step backwards, away from the ramp of the Skimmer. A small, ghost of a smile flickers across his face, as he tears his gaze from Terenia, collecting himself. "I seem to have allowed my temper to overtake my sense. My apologies, Andalite. I assure you that I am usually much more level-headed."

Terenia does not lower her own weapon, distrust and fear written plainly across Mike's face, even after Zorish has raised his hands. Her eyes flicker from Ossanlin to Zorish, not entirely sure what to do.

<<Looks like the Andalite took care of that,>> Illim mutters to Derrel, his hand hovering on his Dracon until Zorish puts his away. <<Besides... Zorish was the first to draw a weapon. If anyone's aggressive, it'd be him. Not to mention he's on the wrong side.>>

He takes a careful sidestep so that Zorish is not between him and Terenia; he certainly doesn't want to get caught in Terenia's fire, should her aim be less than perfect. Unfortunately, this brings him a step closer to the Andalite. The Andalite with a very much functional tail blade.

Illim eyes Ossanlin nervously, wishing he could just disappear and reemerge undetected on the Skimmer, out of sight, ready to go to his new home. Instead, he gives the angrily stamping Andalite what he hopes is a charming smile -- in reality it looks more like a hopeful grimace. "Scuze me, just heading that'a way," he mutters, jerking his head towards the Skimmer, taking another sidestep, trying to move around him.

Serid increases his pace to a sprint in an attempt to keep up with Ossanlin, an attempt which, of course, fails. When he arrives behind the War Prince, he has obeyed his order, his weapon out.

He glances swiftly at Illim and then ignores him, choosing instead to focus his attention where Ossanlin has: on the apparent argument between two Yeerks. He advances until he is beside Ossanlin, giving his superior a wide enough berth that he does not hinder his movements, but clearly is offering backup.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin gestures at Terenia with his other Shredder.  <It might be best if you take Mike back inside and seal the hatch.>

<As for you, Imperial...if your only business here is to kill people who wronged a different you in a different timeline, I suggest you leave.  No one around here really likes it when someone comes in guns blazing.  You'll find this place very hostile in a very short amount of time.  If you have other business here I suggest you get to it.  If I see you within ten meters of that craft for any reason, I will make good on my threat.>  Ossanlin gestures the Shredder trained on Tamora as if telling the Yeerk to move on about his business or leave.

Ossanlin nods to Serid without moving his main eyes.

Al was surprisingly advanced.  Modern humans would refer to the current year as 3282...  At least they would if they still used the same sort of calendar.  All of her human knowledge petered out about halfway through their third millenium.  No one seems to care about anything human that's not ancient.

"Is that how you measure time on your Earth? Did I do that right? What year are you all from, anyway, since we're swapping such intimate personal information?"
Ewa reproved herself for her own thoughtlessness.  That's right, lead yourself into getting asked a question you have no reasonable excuse not to know the answer to.  Luckily Jasper spoke up first, reminding her that everyone here came from different realities as well as different times.  Really, I could say anything I like.... the books were written near the end of the second millenium, which seems to correspond with Jasper....

"Well, so long as all of you promise not to abuse this intimate information by looking me up at all hours of the morning," she quips, "I'm from twenty-oh-four.  Looking at everyone here though, I'd say it's probably a different universe than from where most of you are from."

Ha!  That's practically carte blanche for anything I feel like now.  If they let me get away with it....

Salem actually laughed in response to Rathien's comment, "Yeah, I know, I'm a classic coward. The brave and virtuous end up dead early, and yet I'm still here. Kinda makes you wonder who's really right, doesn't it?" He grinned, "I guess you really are a lot like me, hunter. You're looking for the right opportunities, and you'll take a lesser one if you have to." He tipped his hat slightly, smirking, "Rathien, you're an Ildari after my own heart. Resourceful and motivated. It's a shame you try to kill me every time we meet."

He then turned to Mar with a grin, "If you can figure out how to enter my world, you're welcome to try. If you find it, you might want to drag Al and I along. We've been gone a while. Seem to have crazies trying to kill us the whole way, too," he said, jerking his thumb pointedly at Rathien. "Speaking of which..." he looked back at the hunter, "Rathien, have you seen Thienal lately? It'd be nice if I could keep tabs on him. He's easier to evade than you, but every bit as obnoxious."

He shook his head. "So, would you like to come to my ship?" he asked Mar. "I have a few things that I have the desire to keep to myself, but it's usually tied directly to its real value to me. Would you know an object with... immortal energy if you saw it?" He gestured towards the door, "After you, of course."

Al nodded at Jasper, "Yeah, stuff here kinda seems to revolve around the whole Yeerk-and-Andalite thing. Which might explain why Salem and I are here. We've actually spent a fair amount of time in that era. Or this era, if that's how this place works." He rolled his eyes, "Time here's kinda ridiculous."

He smirked at Ewa's little joke, "So's space, apparently, if you think stuff's that different just based on looks. Now you guy's've got me curious, though." He looked from Van to Ewa to Jasper, "What's stuff like where you're from?"

Terenia swallows hard, nodding in response to Ossanlin's command. For once, she is not in any condition to argue with his instructions. Lowering the Dracon, she slides back half a step, leaving room for the hatch to close. About to give the order, she hesitates when she notices Illim attempting to casually make his way over. Despite the fact that she has half a mind to leave him, lock herself in the Skimmer, and never look back she hesitates. He is a potential ally, she reminds herself. A future member of the rebellion, and he has been cleared by Reven. It'll look good for you too if you keep him safe.

"Come on, then," she barks at him, eager to put this ordeal behind her.

Zorish's tense smile remains in place as he lowers his hands, keeping them well away from the butt of his Dracon, lest the Andalite think that he is going to pull it again. "I do not wish for bloodshed," the Sub-Visser says in the calmest voice he can muster. "As I said, my emotions got the better of me, for which I apologize." He takes a few more long steps back, counting out loud at each footfall. "One…two…" He counts all the way to ten, when he stops and raises his voice."I was unaware of the fact that Terenia was under your care, Andalite, unable to speak for himself. I will try my best not to bother your charges any further while I am here."

Terenia's head snaps around at the jibe, the back of Mike's neck flushing red. "I'm not his charge and I can speak for myself, filth," she shouts back, a knot of fury overriding her desperation to close the hatch. She takes a step forward, Dracon half rising once more.

<<Terenia,>> Mike warns, <<she's just trying to lure you into reacting so she has a reason to shoot you!  To shoot us.  Can't we just leave her well enough alone?>>

Meanwhile Corliss swims impatiently in the humid pool room, wondering what has become of the two people he cares about most.

Mar closes his eyes, thinking this idea over, and then nods. "....I think I would, yes. Objects with the type of signature I prefer are...attractive to mortals. You may have heard the stories. The more powerful the object, the stronger this pull becomes. I doubt you have anything with the sort of potency a Highest imbues, but you may be carrying something on you of value to me without knowing it."

Mar then stands up and wanders toward the door, waiting for the trader to follow him. He is not entirely sure what he's trying to do with Salem, but he senses a benefit to giving the idiot power. He muses that even if he gets something out of Salem, he might not be able to give the trader the gift in his current state. The Bar's skewed sense of reality may prevent the attempt entirely. Yet it was worth a shot.

Illim nods gratefully to Terenia and has made it all but five paces from the Skimmer's hatch when Terenia's tempter is baited again, and she's raging towards Zorish -- and therefore himself -- with her Dracon out. "Whoa, whoa," he mutters, his hands shooting up, palms out, and he sidesteps again.

Once out of the immediate line of fire, he climbs the ramp behind her and murmurs, "Look, I don't know the situation here, but... I have a hunch it isn't worth all this. Let's just keep you alive long enough for Ossanlin to do his magic trick, and then we can go to our new home, eh?"

Serid raises an eyebrow and makes a motion that indicates he is considering aiming his weapon at Terenia. <<Short fuse,>> he remarks quietly to his Prince.

<<I can just tell this trip is going to be all kinds of fun.>> Derrel said sarcastically, knowing how easy it is to set Terenia off when around someone she doesn't like. Such as the Andalite Corliss so wisely insisted on coming with them. <<Girls and their PMSing.>> He joked, feeling sure Illim would be smart enough not to mention PMS to an angry woman.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin's face remains set in stone as his second Shredder remains trained on Terenia.  <If you want to live long enough to see your human form again, return to the ship and seal the damn hatch!>  Ossanlin surprises himself by using the distinctly human invective.  He'd been hanging around humans and human-like Yeerks for too long.

He keeps his main eyes on Zorish.  <She speaks the truth, she is not under my charge and she has her own voice.  But I will not allow some trigger-happy Imperial to waltz in here and start killing people for no sensible reason.>  Another partially-human phrase?  He didn't think about it, just stayed focused on Zorish.  <You have two choices right now...return to the bar or return to your ship and egress.>

In private to Serid... <<She is...damaged.  It's a long story.>>

___________________ ___________________ ___________________ ___________________ ___________________ _________

~Rathien~

Rathien raises an eyebrow...Tobias had tactics, yes.  This could easily be one of them, in fact it was most-likely one of them, but he couldn't ignore his instincts.  "I believe what you mean to say is that the strong and the bold seize power and live life whilst the weak and cowardly spend their entire existences running and hiding, ceding any iota of power they might have to improve their survival rate.  I would rather live life than spend it cowering in a dark corner."

He takes one last long pull from his glass, emptying it.  "What good would it do if I agreed to...postpone...you r death?  When it comes to me, I am perfectly capable of telling an "honorable" truth or betraying my word, and when it comes to you, you are incapable of believing that I ever honor it.  Even were I telling the truth, you would not believe me."  Rathien grins again.  "And you're wise for that.  If, however, you should happen to change your mind about my involvement in your little hit mission, I may be able to spare some time for you."

He listens to Mar, feigning disinterest.  There were some strange words being exchanged.  Some of the scholars on his homeworld had mentioned the possibility of actual magic...the word Highest had been used in that matter of discussion.

He grins charismatically at Mar when Salem points to him as a being after his life.  "I'm not insane, Tobias is just a joy to hunt."  Rathien shrugs a bit before looking back at Salem.  "As for Thienal...I had assumed he would beat me here, he received the tip about your location prior to myself.  It seems his tracking skills have fallen lax however...I have no idea where he might be."  Rathien shrugs apologetically.

Terenia's eyes widen at the harsh words from Ossanlin and she skitters back a few feet, firmly within the bridge of the Skimmer. Clenching her teeth around a sharp reply she instead hisses out the command for the hatch to close. It is only after the outside world is cut off that she finally fully lowers the weapon. Her breath is coming in heaving gasps, as though she had just forced Mike to run a marathon, and it takes all of her strength to reholster the weapon. When she turns to Illim she notes that her hands are shaking.

"Sor-sorry," she says shakily. "I, uh, wouldn't have shot you, you know."

<<Let's not ever do that again,>> Terenia says quietly to Mike. <<I don't care that she's here, I don't care if she's the same Tammy I knew or not. The dead should stay dead and I don't want to see her again.>>

"Trigger happy?" Zorish raises his eyebrows, his expression flickering only slightly when the Skimmer's hatch slides shut. "I believe you are exaggerating, Andalite. But I can see where you may have gotten a false impression." He licks his lips, glancing from Ossanlin to Serid. "I will return to the bar. Perhaps I could offer you a drink, on my tab, for the trouble I seem to have caused?" He offers the War-Prince a thin smile.

The conversations around Efaen are of little use to her. She notes that much of the discussion seems to revolve around Earth, a planet that Efaen really would prefer to not to dwell on. Earth had brought about quite a few problems for her. In truth, she needs to speak with Corliss and see if she can convince him to allow his leader to speak with Ossanlin, but she is under orders to remain in the bar and keep an eye on things. Or rather, to remain away from a potentially volatile situation, she translates, wondering what is happening outside the bar. She has no doubt that it involves Terenia and her supposedly dead sister, a fact that almost makes her glad for her orders. The drama surrounding Terenia's life has been a thorn in Efaen's side for years now, and it is a relief to separate herself from them.

Impatiently she scuffs a hoof against the wood floor, ready to be free of this bar and all of its conflict.
