<<Do we follow him, or what?>>
<<Yes, for now. It's not like we're in a hurry to get back to sitting in the bar.>>
<<yeah, but... well, maybe we'd be intruding on something?>>
<<Well, if that's the case, surely they'll give us some indication that they're wanting privacy, wouldn't they?>>
<<probably, yeah... okay, whatever.>>

Jasper and Salem followed by Al, coming up on Salem and the guy he was talking to at the moment. The way they were approaching though, he couldn't tell who he was chatting with due to the angle. Not that either of them would have recognized anyone on this rock anyways....

<<You're anxious, aren't you?>>
<<No, I... >> Sapttus stalled. << I guess I am. I know this process might take a while, but just the fact that we've taken half a step towards finding a cure is exhilarating to me. And now... we're chatting with friends. This is hardly productive.>>
Jasper wasn't sure how to respond. Sapttus was hyper-focused on his goal, and that was something he hadn't seen in his Yeerk Buddy for a while. It... felt to him like Sapttus was there in his head, but not with him in his head.
<<I'm not taking over, am I?>> Sapttus asked, having noticed Jasper's thoughts.
<<Oh no, no, no.... it's just... well, I can tell this is what we'll be doing for a while.>> He gave the equivalent of a mental smile to show his mind-reading ally that he was okay with this, which he was... for the most part. Again, it wasn't like he had anything better to do.

"Poor trader," Illim remarks, his tone indicative of his complete apathy for Salem's situation. "Poor timing or not, it doesn't make me trust you much more, either." His eyes narrow and he folds his arms across his chest. "So what do you need assistance with, exactly?" he asks, eying him in return.

Efaen follows Claxter off of the ship. A quick glance indicates that the modified Andalite -Theta- and Serid have not left.

<Prince Ossanlin has been secured and he is resting,> Efaen says, her stalk eyes scanning the area. <I believe it is best that we leave him be for the time being.>

Salem turned to Jasper and Al as they approached, "Hey, guys, give me one minute."

He turned back to Illim, and chose to ignore the remark about his trustworthiness. Besides the fact that arguing with Illim wouldn't get him anywhere, there was the fact that Corliss was right about his 'sabotage' of the Skimmer.

"I'm looking for information on Yeerk physiology," Salem said, cutting to the chase. He glanced back at Jasper and decided that, since Sapptus seemed to be attempting to keep himself a secret, it wouldn't be prudent of him to reveal that the pair was Yeerk at the moment. "I'm... fairly unacquainted with Yeerks. If you have any Yeerk medical information stored somewhere, I'll trade you something equally useful." Have to ask Sapptus for the same thing once Illim leaves, he thought. "If that's not something you can help me with, I'd appreciate the chance to run some scans on you, specifically, without your host. It should only take a few minutes, and some of the things I can offer for it should grab your attention."

Illim raises his eyebrows and shakes his head with a short, incredulous laugh. "I'm not leaving my host. If I don't trust you on Corliss's ship, I certainly don't trust you with my rather vulnerable person. Really, Salem. You're a piece of work."

He sighs and shrugs. "Now if you want some generic medical information, I might be more able to help you. What do you want to know?"

Elayne sighs as she hauls Mar to the nearest cushioned seat, setting him down in it. "A chair is what we can get here," she tells him as she attempts to arrange his legs more comfortably and shove the seat against the wall so he can rest against it. "You should sleep, try to heal up, alright?" she says, still fussing with him.

Serid looks up at Efaen and Claxter as they emerge from the ship. "I appreciate the good report, Warrior" he tells Efaen with a nod.

Turning to Theta, he says, "I should take my leave of you. Forgive me, but I have not slept in a long time, and I require rest."

Salem laughed and shook his head, "Right, you Yeerks are pretty helpless in your natural state. It'd be on your terms, of course, but if you have information, that's actually a lot more useful to me." He smiled, "What I need is just general information on typical Yeerk physiology. Anything you're willing to sell me would be helpful. If you have records of medical procedures or alterations or... well, anything really, I'll pay you well for them."

He tilted his head, "And, actually, if you have a way for me to take scans of some Kandrona radiation, I'll pay for that, too. I don't know if you'd have records of it or a generator I could see... or even buy. I just need to know what it is that I'm dealing with, exactly."

Corliss sighs impatiently, waving a dismissing hand. "Efaen just blew up Terenia's ship," he says gratingly.  "She's a walking bloody time bomb!  And I have no allegiance to you, nor you to me, yet you continue to act like I owe you me life."  He gives the doorway and Jagill a disgusted glance.  "If you can't admit to the fact that you're an obnoxious saboteur, hiring mercenaries to skulk about my ship doing your job for you, then I suppose I'll have to figure out how to fix this mess in my shipboard system myself."

He heads for the door back into the cabin, pausing to add, "Although if you can't come clean and act like a misguided ally instead of an enemy, you can forget even the remotest chance of ever working with our cause.  We'll blacklist you, mark my words."

Corliss brushes past Jagill and stalks into the cabin in a huff.

"Alright. Alright! I did it! I was hoping Salem would be more subtle than he was. His pilot can project holograms for crying out loud. I don't know how you caught him in your ship unless he was just being really sloppy. You must be really paranoid to even come here and accuse me of being behind it when you didn't even know Salem was working for me."

"I just wanted to talk to Reven. That's all. You've shut me out for reasons I don't understand because you won't even sit down and talk. We both know Terenia will be watched when she's at the base, so I don't know why you're against her being watched here. I can give the rebellion so many things. Practically anything you people want that you have so many problems getting. All I need is some operatives that are good at espionage that I could trust won't sell me out to the Empire."

"Don't blacklist me. Trust me, we'll both lose out if that happens."

"Excuse me if I find that hard to believe," Corliss snaps, glaring at the cabin ceiling from which Temrash's reconstructed voice is projecting.  He steps down the hatch threshold and clunks down the metal ramp, still fuming.

"You should believe." Jagill said, coming down the ramp. "You ask, and Temrash get. Just say so."

"Still have trouble with that guy?" Kevlin glanced at the receding figure.

Corliss keeps walking, crunching across the gravel parking lot without so much as a second glance back at Jagill.

He draws his Dracon and approaches Illim and Salem where they stand not far off, in front of the bar.

"Illim," says Corliss, struggling to retain his composure, "I'm leaving.  I don't care if I have to march up to Efaen, stun her and drag her body onto the ship.  The longer I stay here, the longer that dapsen coward is sapping energy and information from my ship."

He gives Salem an accusatory glare, gesturing with the gun.  "I reckon that means you're a pretty good liar," Corliss sneers.  "At least, a stubborn one, I'll give you that.  If you can help me reverse what you've done, we can discuss civil relations between you and the rebellion.  If not, I'll figure it out myself, without having to worry about being stabbed in the bloody back by a trader who takes the word of imbeciles like Temrash."

"Infuriating. Simply infuriating! I don't know what went wrong, Kevlin. One minute I was practically in the rebellion, and had a new ally and resource, and the next minute I'm banned. For what? I' beginning to dislike this place. I really am." Temrash told Kevlin.

Jagill came back to the ship, and gave the Hork-Bajir equivalent of a shrug of exasperation.

<I see the Skimmer is nearby, and perhaps Corliss is still near.> Claxter told Efaen. <We can find them again if you'd like. Personally I don't trust them either, so I'd like to remain with you in case they try anything. If that is fine with you.>

"I understand what you mean but I must say that the amount of politics going on in a bar is quite amusing." Kevlin shrugged.

"Yeah well, I'm starting to think it's time for my little vacation to be over. Unless Corliss decided to take his ship over to the rebellion himself, I don't think I'm getting anywhere."
