<<Actually, Theta, I don't think my Prince trusts you very much. It may be prudent to wait outside while I get a stretcher for him and take him into the Mirage. I hope you're not too put off by this, but it may be best for you to not enter the ship.>> Claxter said as nicely as he could.

"Are... you sure?" Jasper said. "Thanks. This sure seems like a lot more than a fair trade though... not that.. I'm ungrateful, but.. Salem won't get mad, will he? I don't want to cause a problem... But yeah, of course I'll be careful with it. No way I'd let anything happen." He wasn't sure how to respond to him calling it his baby. It was probably just a phrase, but with him being a robot and all.. it was just a little odd. Maybe it was more than just an expression to him? He didn't want to ask.

<<I feel kinda bad taking something for this when you were the one getting poked and prodded...>>
Sapttus tensed up. <<Wait, he said there wouldn't be any prodding or ..>>
<<Sorry, sorry, he didn't, it was... just a badly-timed figure of speech.>>
<<Oh. It's fine. Scared me there for a second. I thought maybe I'd just gotten too far out of it for that time.>>
<<You sound a lot better.>>
<<Yes, I'm just fine now. Back to normal levels of craziness.>>
Jasper chuckled. "Oh good. Hey, you watching this?>>
<<Of course I am. Though why you're basically playing with string, I don't understand.>>
<<Well, you know me... >>

"This would be in exchange for the scans and information that Salem acquired, correct? I just wanted to clarify, to make sure that our original offer was still on the table. Confidential information for a cure?"

Adam stops at the edge of a lake, feeling absurdly pleased with himself, as though wandering around like a fool is some sort of accomplishment. He sits down on the ground and starts unlacing his shoes. He sets them to the side, stuffing his socks in them a second later. Standing up, he wades into the water up to his chest.

Adam lets out a sigh. He's going to look like a drowned rat in a minute, but this is the closest he figures he'll get to a bath or reasonably clean clothes.

Al nodded, "As far as I know, yeah, that'd just be for the scans Salem just did. I don't know if he'll need to do more checks later, and I don't know if he'll offer more payment for those if he does, but I'll let him worry about that. He's the trader on this ship. I'm just the pretty one," he said with a smirk.

He walked over the the wall of the ship and stroked it, causing two drawers to open nearby. From the first, he pulled a round, white, plate-like object slightly bigger around than the projector he'd given Jasper, and from the second he pulled a small projection computing device like the one Salem had used to display his Persona Scanner's evaluation of Mar. He walked back to his chair in the center of the room and plugged the computer into a socket in the chair's arm.

"If you guys have any problems with that thing, let me know," he said, turning back to Jasper with a smile. "I haven't really gotten a chance to test it properly yet, and as it's my design, I could use your help working out the kinks. Actually, on that note, I'd appreciate any feedback at all. Usually I only ever get to show these things to Salem, and... well, you've seen how he can be."

He pulled the device out of the chair socket and walked over to Jasper, holding out both the plate-like object and the cube-ish computer for him to take. "This thing's a projection computer," he said about the latter. "It should have everything you need to know about the personal projector on it. And this," he said, holding up the plate, "is a charger for the projector itself. The energy reserves last around thirty hours under normal use. If you just keep this thing on your ship and set the projector on it, it should be able to draw power from the ship and into the projector. Not that I've ever used it with Yeerk systems," he said with a shrug.

"Sure," Elayne nods to Salem, putting her arm around Mar's back and shifting her feet to try to help her boyfriend stand. Altruism, she thinks on the word he, himself, used, and she smiles. He is a good person, she thinks, at least this incarnation of him, at least to me.

She tilts her head to watch the advancing Corliss and Illim cautiously. She is doubtful the two want anything to do with Mar or herself, but she hopes they don't try to engage Salem in a conversation or fight, considering it will be difficult to move Mar without the trader's help.

Illim drops back to give Corliss time to catch up. "Slimy jerk is just gonna try to get away again," he mutters to him, "and claim he was doing a good deed."

Serid follows Efaen and Claxter at a distance. Relief that the battle is over is dull compared with anxiety that his new advocate has been wounded.

His dark eyes turn to Efaen and he asks her privately, <<Why are you here, truly, Warrior? If you hold no allegiance to him, if you suspect him of disloyalty, what does his wellbeing matter to you?>>

Mar grasps Salem's hand awkwardly, nearly stumbling into the trader. He eventually settles on a position that uses Salem's body weight to stabilize his own. This was a nightmare. He wasn't sure exactly why Salem was offering him assistance, but he did know that he didn't really want it. He was having enough trouble concentrating as it was.

"Don't know," muttered Mar in response to Salem's question. "Each...body has separate will. Same power draw and similar wants. But...listen, the Highest started out as something else. There are...accidents sometimes when an avatar gets back in contact. It...agh..."

Mar glances at Elayne with slight worry. "......damn. Does the Trader have to help us, pet? Is there any other way out of this? I don't trust him at all...nor he me."

We listened to claxter.

Efaen scuffs a front hoof on the ground indignantly at Serid's accusation. <<Despite my suspicions, Ossanlin is my Prince,>> she says curtly. <<I hold total allegiance to him until the time in which he releases me from my duties. I am seeking another, more effective path in this war, but will do so only under the approval of my Prince. Anything less would be dishonorable.>>

She does not bring up the fact that she has already spoken with the rebellion about joining them. Ossanlin knows as much, and it is really not Serid's business, as far as Efaen is concerned.

Ossanlin feels the concrete and dirt once again pressing against his body as the cusioned field is removed.  He rotates his head and moves an arm experimentally.  <There is no stretcher...>  Ossanlin commands the main hatch to open and gives his authorization codes.  The main ramp descends and Ossanlin commands the Mirage to activate med-bay protocals, simultaneously locking down all parts of the ship besides the med-bay itself.  His body is near the edge of the repressor-field's reach, but it manages to lift him, much like what one would expect to see in an anti-grav unit.  The thing was not capable of actually manipulating his body, but pushing him would be a fairly simple task since he was now floating at about human-waist level.

<If one of you would be so kind as to maneuver my body into the med-bay, I would be much obliged.>

<Yes my Prince.> Claxter said. He started pushing Ossanlin towards the ship. <Come on in and assist, Efaen. You and I should be able to manage by ourselves.>

"Like hell he will," Corliss says, panting, slowing to match Illim's pace.  "Especially not after breaking into me bloody ship's system.  Myitt had some sort of bad experience with him, too...I don't trust the git." He strides forward, gritting his teeth, Dracon drawn.

"Yeah, sure, I'd be glad to check in every once in a while. This is going to be a lot of fun. I uh... thanks." Jasper smiles.

<<This would actually make it a lot easier to share the blue prints when we get to that. Assuming that you are able to work this device well enough by then...>>
<<What? You think that this line is the best I got? Pfft.>>
<<You don't have to act like a big shot for me, bub. I'm in here too, remember? I know you're holding back. I have to admit though, it does seem a little complicated to operate.>>
<<Not... too much. But you never really realize how much detail you miss out on so often. I mean... seriously! I can't tell if I'm bending this spring right or not...>>
Sapttus chuckled. <<I'm pretty sure your spring scrunching skills are superior.>>

Sapttus accepted the charger and computer from Al. "This is basically a manual, correct? Jasper here just loves manuals."
"Yeah... I'm part of the 1% of the population that actually reads them."
"And if it wasn't for me, he would still have all of them. They'd be neatly stacked in a drawer."
"Anyways..." Jasper says, feeling slightly embarrassed. "I'm hoping that this works with our ship." Standing right in front of him now, Jasper takes a better look at Al's chasis. The intricacies and mechanisms involved were just fascinating. His easily-distracted mind was soon taken from the blue squiggle, which dissipated after being forgotten, and he began to closely analyze his android body. "If uh... you don't mind me asking... who made this uh, body, for you?"

<Of course,> Efaen says, turning her attention away from Serid. She moves forward into a position where she can assist Claxter in maneuvering Ossanlin's body up the ramp and onto the Mirage. She finds that even though she is no longer on the best of terms with Claxter, she is able to relax somewhat in his presence. Perhaps it is merely because she has been given a task to complete - one that is within her capabilities and does not involve making any difficult decisions about what is and what is not honorable.

<I wish to thank you again, Claxter,> Efaen says offhandedly, giving Ossanlin's body a gentle push forward. <for the assistance that you have provided since my arrival here.>

On board Corliss' ship, Terenia is beginning to get nervous. How long has it been since she was left alone? The vestiges of her internal clock tell her that it hasn't been terribly long, but she feels as though it has been ages.

<Hello?> she calls out tentatively to the empty ship. <Anyone there?> Or have you all forgotten me?

Elayne nods, casting another nervous glance at Corliss. "It looks like he's about to be occupied soon anyway. Let me help you inside... not particularly restful there, but it's closer than my ship."

She tightens her arm around him to accept more of his weight. What do you mean, "accidents"? she wants to ask but holds her tongue for the moment.

Serid has nothing to say in response to Efaen; truth be told, he is not much interested in speaking with her at all. When the Andalite male addresses him, he thinks, This is not precisely the distraction from the previous conversation I had in mind. Fortunately for him, perhaps, the Andalite's attention is drawn away by the War Prince, and Serid remains silent, waiting outside the ship.

"Yeah?" Illim says, raising an eyebrow. It is news to him that Salem is on Myitt's untrustworthy list too. Not that that ought to mean much to him; he is sure he is among its ranks, as well. "Well, I've got your back," he murmurs to Corliss.
