"Ewa? Mmm, that's a lovely name, Ewa," replied Van with a grin.

He glanced back at Ogreon, and nodded at him, "Yeanh, I'm ready to head up. I hope your med bay can service Humanoids, chaa."

Then, Van realized that what he said was a little silly. After all, it sounded like this guy captained of a government ship of some kind. And obviously, it would have to be accessible to any species represented in that government, or else it wouldn't be useful for Ogreon or anyone else assigned a ship like that.

Van shook his head, and added, "Ah, zhon! Of course it would work, I mean, you have humanoids in your government, right? That or, humanoids to experiment on... I don't mind being a test subject. Just don't freak Ewa out, mmchaa?"

|OGREON|

He nodded and turned to my communicator, "Ogreon to Urtahn, prepare for beam up."

"Aye, sir.", my transporter chief said.

Ogreon faced ewa, "Are you ready to beam up?"

We deposited the Ossanlin unit on the ground adjacent to the ship Claxter had referred to as the Mirage.

<Where are your regeneration units?>, We asked Claxter, but our telepathic frequency was open for all in the immediate area to hear.

"I won't get started on my history, let's just say the Galactic Federation I know is less 'Federation' and more 'Corrupt Oligarchy'. Sweet little euphemisms like that are pretty common where I'm from. ....hardly "galactic', but people like that part. Puh."

Not wanting to drown in his cynicism, Van chose to listen to Ogreon's explanation. Even for him, the whole concept of a working transporter was still in the realm of science fiction. The only race he knew that was capable of "beaming" anywhere were the Thyllians, and the Thyllians were energy beings. But, to cross that threshold... Van was excited about the experience, if not also a little nervous.

Van glanced at the transporter, and grinned, "Just make sure the flies don't get in, chaa? All right... I guess I'll, uh, crawl on in."

He wiggled a bit to tell Ewa to release him, and then he slumped to the ground. Van suddenly realized what a big help she was, his legs were still tingling like mad. He didn't look forward to the slight "tickling" Ogreon described.

However, he had to press on. Thus Van, still in awe at the transporter technology, crawled his way into the area Ogreon indicated. He wasn't going to ask about "Yeerks" quite yet. Nor did he want to question the logic of grass outside a space Bar on a small planetoid. Van decided that those things will have to be dealt with later, after he was able to walk again...

Al blinked and grabbed the projector off the shelf. "You wanna use it to... project holograms? Alright, that's a pretty simple tweak, actually, but it might take you more practice to get right. Normal setting on this thing is personal appearance alteration. If you're gonna take it, I guess I'll give you a pad with instructions on how to use it. It's controlled by thought commands, and it'll smooth and correct the images it receives from you, so that it generally does what you want it to do, rather than just the sporadic things your mind tells it." He held it out to Jasper, "Here, if you hold it for a second, I'll program it to recognize your commands."

"Well.... yeah, I guess. Is that okay, or...." Jasper had no clue about what he was wanting. He didn't have any idea what this little silver thing was supposed to do, or how it worked really. Holograms were something that Obi-Wan Kenobi played with, not a guy like him. Apparently he was going against the norm with his intended use of this device, but the possibilities were endless! Imagine all of the things he could create with it! An artistic rendering device with this kinda of power.... He takes hold of the waffle wafer and says, "Okay, now what?"

The device Al had handed Jasper had a keypad on one side, written in the Atazin galactic language. Al spent a few seconds punching things into it while it was in Jasper's hand, then stood back and grinned.

"Now, just concentrate on what you want to display. Thing should have a range of ten or twenty feet. It might take some practice to get things to come out the way you want them, but once the projection's up, you can tweak it however you like. You can set that down or whatever," he said, nodding at the device. "I actually built in a belt-clip on the back there. As long as it's nearby, it'll take your thought commands at the moment. Just visualize what you want and try to direct the thought at the projector."

Mar groans, lifting himself up to look at the newcomer. Mar groans and stares at Salem with mysteriously bright blue eyes upon seeing who it is. This was the idiot he had been planning to dupe in revenge for Ossanlin earlier. And the person with connections to groups that had machines that could read a Highest. He wasn't sure what he thought of the trader, nor how dangerous he was.

Mar winces and rubs his head, eventually replying with, "I...sent energy from my soul reserves...to the War-Prince. This was...not very clever of me, Salem. Such an action is very...altruistic for the Devil Mass. It brought on...mana I can no longer handle. I'm sick. Do you think anything in your stupid bag of tricks can fix that?"

Ewa wondered why Van had pulled away when her only real excuse for going to Ogreon's ship was her ability to act as a sentient crutch.  Not that it sounded like he would need any kind of support for the journey, and this was all probably an excuse to get her out of this place and reintegrated with the storyline before returning.  Gods, how embarrassing.

"I'm ready."

Really, it would only be consistent to assume teleportation would be particle-based in a scape with buildings that could reconstruct themselves.  Space transposition would suggest either a more modern setting with extensive inter-fleet trade or an ancient fantasy-based setting.  Human stories seemed to go in funny cycles like that.

"That's.. that's it? That sounds too easy..." Jasper wasn't new to the thought-controlled hardware concept. Some - not all - of his devices that he'd been issued used the same basic principles. But.. this was so free. "Um... okay...." He decided to test this out like he would anything else: he made a line. In his mind, he thought the image of a short blue wire at the device. Nothing extravagant, just... a line. It simply appeared in front of him, hanging in space. He stood still for a few seconds. "That's just cool." He reached out to touch it, and to no surprise, his hand simply went right through it. Sapttus began to pay a bit more attention to his pal's new toy, as Jasper 'grasped' the line, having to focus a bit more to get the image to align with his hand movements, and curled it into a circle, then twisted it further into a spring of sorts.

"Oh my gosh... I think I can die happy now."

Claxter and his group finally made it to the ship, whose hatch was of course closed. <Prince Ossanlin, do you have the strength to let us in?> He asked. He had gotten into the ship before, but the machine he used to do it as back in his own ship.

Ossanlin glances at the Mirage's outer hull.  <<Your new friend is no Andalite I recognize, and I do believe I would know if we had experimented so heavily with cybernetics.  This suggests that he is no longer one of us.  I do not know where his allegiances lie.  I would not want him learning anything...unfortun ate...regarding either my ship or any non-integrated Andalite technology.  Not to mention the tactical data contained in the memory banks.  It's heavily encrypted of course...but I do not know his capabilities.  I am not comfortable with him coming aboard the Mirage.>>  Ossanlin sends to Claxter in private.  He does not open the Mirage, awaiting a response from the Warrior.

<<I understand, my Prince, though he's the one carrying you.>> Claxter said. <<I don't suppose there is a stretcher in your ship I can bring out? I believe Theta will oblidge to wait outside for us.>>

Efaen finally reaches the Mirage, stopping a few feet away from Ossanlin and the others, purposely distancing herself from the other Andalites.

<I am present and willing to provide assistance, if required,> Efaen says to them. She knows that she is stating the obvious, but feels the need to maintain some sort of honorable presence.

|OGREON|

Ewa and Van both appeared prepared. I nodded.

"Ogreon to Urtahn. Three to beam up."

The forms of all three beings were gradually covered in a shifting, glowing red energy populated by small white glows that seemed to be alive, spinning around each being in circles. As the red energy dissipated, there was a medium red spherical light where the center of the person had been, and that too faded. Then, they were on the ship.

We considered the possibility they had not answered us because they did not use regeneration units.

Salem smiled at Mar and shook his head, "Healing immortals is not something I'm prepared for. I could let you have some time with one of my Ennish stones, but I don't know if it'd do you any good." He noted the two people coming towards him, Mike with his weapon drawn, but ignored them for the moment.

He leaned closer to Mar and narrowed his eyes, "What, exactly, possessed you to do something like that? How can you do something like that, if you're tied to a 'highest' that won't allow it?" He looked up at Elayne, then back down at Mar. He wasn't really expecting his questions to be answered. "Elayne, you want to help me try and get him someplace more comfortable?" He stood and held his hand out for Mar to take, intending to let Mar use his body as a crutch. He wasn't entirely sure why he was trying to help Mar, but he told himself it was just good business sense, and pushed the thought out of his mind.

Al grinned and ****ed his head. He was enjoying watching Jasper experiment with the projector.

"If you like it that much, It's all yours, man. I'll also throw in a charger for the power supply, and some instructions on how to reprogram it, and its abilities. If you take that one, you've gotta promise to be nice to it," he said with a wink. "It's my baby."
