"Yeah," Illim nods hurriedly, sliding into the seat in front of the weapons panel and manning the Yeerkish controls as living metal buckles protectively slide over his shoulders and waist. "But I should warn you this isn't my forte. Especially not in a new host." He scans the ground hurriedly, searching for the fight as he thumbs the power of the Skimmer's canons down.

Serid's stunned observation of the fight between his new Prince and this stranger is interrupted by Elayne as, at the commotion outside, she pushes open the Bar door and joins the throng of gathered Andalites. Unable to make out much of the fight, itself, her eyes turn instead to a frighteningly still individual.

"Mar!" she shrieks, all the confident attitude she had held earlier dissipating in a vapor of fear. She hurries towards him, unheeding of the blue bodies interrupting her path.

Mar is fading away, from his body and from the Bar. Ossanlin's current power level is draining his reserves enough that holding onto a useless mortal body doesn't seem as relevant as swallowing the Andalite who is stealing from him. Wait...was the Andalite actually stealing? That wasn't what happened, was it? Did the difference really matter? Incarnations of his were sick with pain.

Abruptly, a figure darts across the grass toward Mar's projection. Mar's mind snaps into clearer focus in response to this, coughing up a lung as his heart rate speeds up. Mar spits onto the ground and stares up at the figure. He recognizes the figure. "El...Elayne," states Mar in a somewhat coherent voice. "Sorry. Have to...the War-Prince. I need to help him."

The Ambassador watched as the battle waged outside. He wished he could help stop the fighting. But there was nothing he could do! If he walked into the heat of battle to stop them, he would certainly be torn in two(or something just as horrific...). If he called for peace from the sidelines...they would probably either laugh at him or ignore him...maybe not even hear him.

So he turned to yet another patron in the bar, "Excuse me, does this sort of thing happen all the time here?"

His resolve to remain here until Vogefac was found was starting to falter...

<I don't even know anymoer> Claxter said to theta. <Prince Ossanlin! Are you ok?> He called

Jagill's attention was pulled from what he saw when he heard elkayne call Mar's name. He looked sick. What happened. he climbed down, and went to him. "He need sickbay. I take him?" He asked Elayne. He remembered that she would think he was Temrash, and might wonder why he was acting different. "I am not Temrash now, by the way. Temrash somewhere else. Call me Jagill."

Derrel didn't have anything to say about the weapons The only weapon he had ever used was whatever he could pick up and bludgeon over someone's head until they left him alone.

"No, don't move him!" Elayne responded to Jagill in the same frenzied tone, not even bothering to see who had spoken. She skids to a stop on her already-filthy pants' knees, afraid to touch Mar lest she disrupt him somehow. "Are you leaving me?" she asks wide-eyed, her voice quieter but no less terrified.

<Having fun yet?> Illim asks Derrel with a smirk as he spots the battle dangerously near the Bar and magnifies the sight on the holoscreen in front of him for better accuracy.

"Ok." Jagill said. He squatted down near mar, wanting to help but not being sure how. Mar wasn't a good person, but he hadn't done anything personally to Temrash or Jagill, so Jagill didn't have any strong negative feelings against him.

<As long as that guy can't get up here to us, I'll be fine. I didn't know there were people with superpowers out here. Maybe if I stay out here long enough, I'll get superpowers too.> Derrel said.

Mar glances tiredly up at the woman above him and smiles. This appears to strain the bizarre latticework of glinting cracks in his cheek. "Elayne," he states again. "My Elayne. I am helping the War-Prince. He will fail if I disappear. But...I am disappearing. That's...a bit of a problem for me, isn't it?"

Mar chuckles and says carefully, "...I'll try not to leave if I can, pet. But my body isn't taking this very well."

Salem nodded in response to Jasper's comments about the dependency being a 'toss-up' - from the sound of things, he thought he agreed. It was one dependency or the other. Granted, he didn't know much about the situation- he'd have to start doing some pretty intensive research into Yeerks in order to even have a chance of getting these two what they wanted. Still, the knowledge he gained would no doubt be useful in more ways than one- that was the main reason he traded in technologies and information. With goods, you could run out, but knowledge kept on giving.

Salem happened to glance over at the wall of the craft- the neon shapes representing Ossanlin and the swordsman were moving around each other with incredible speed. The ship was still able to track them, displaying their changing positions as bright trails, but he'd never seen beings moving that fast- he was sure he'd be unable to keep up in person. It looked as though they were fighting, though at those speeds, who could tell.

"Al, can you keep an eye on that for me?" Salem asked, nodding towards the wall. "See if you can figure out what's going on?"

Al glanced over at the display and his eyes grew wide. "I... sure..." he replied, ****ing his head at the scene and ordering the ship's computer to run some analyses of the information it'd already recorded on the scene.

Salem turned back to Jasper and said, "If you don't have Kandrona sources, I'll have to find someone who does. If most Yeerks are dependent on them, they ought to be common on this rock. Would he know for sure if you guys are carrying something like that?" he asked, nodding down at Sapptus.

Salem pulled his persona scanner back out of his pocket when Jasper asked about it. "This? I... actually don't really know what it's called. Or how it works. I've been calling it a Persona Scanner. It images a being's emotional, mental, and spiritual auras and outputs a bunch of information based on that. It also gives me a surprisingly detailed physiological readout of whatever, so maybe it can help me out with this instant problem of yours." Now that he was thinking about it, he went ahead and clicked it at Jasper again as well. "Just so I know if I can separate the Yeerk image from the host without having to physically separate them," he explained with a shrug as he re-pocketed the device. He pulled another gadget from the pile he'd made. This one looked somewhat like a miniaturized swing set without the swings. He glanced at Sapptus before turning to Jasper and asking, "Will he be okay under ultrasonic imaging?"

When Sapptus spasmed, Salem's heart jumped. He began looking at his instruments and going through his readouts to see if anything was going wrong. "Is he okay?" he asked Jasper worriedly.

"Um, yeah, I guess he'd know. I could probably find out if we had a generator or anything on our ship, but uh.. no offense or anything, but I'll wait till he's back upstairs before I leave. No offense, really. It's just... yeah." Jasper didn't seem to be affected when Sapttus squirmed. "Yeah, he should be fine. He's told me that's normal. Probably he's just stretching or something. I bet it's kinda cramped up here." He says, tapping his head. Regardless of his act, he was slightly nervous. Then again, he was most often nervous. Which was why he was normally so quiet. But... he wasn't exactly being quiet today...

He just wanted his little slug-buddy back.

He was feeling a little bit self-conscious and just nodded at Salem's explanation of his handheld device. He became distracted with the display that Al was looking at, the one that Salem had called attention to.

"What is that?" He said, dazzled and confused by the shifting swirling lights. "It looks like a screen saver or something..."

Salem nodded at Jasper's assertion that Sapptus was okay and took a breath to steady himself. He was getting jumpy. That wasn't like him. He needed to calm down. He set the miniature swingset-looking device on its side and pointed the legs at Sapptus, then sent a thought-speak command to it, causing it to emit a series of ultrasonic tones. Salem didn't realize it, but the lower-pitched of these would fall right in the range of tones Yeerks used for communication- Sapptus would probably be able to make them out very clearly. After a few seconds, the device had finished its scans, and emitted a low-pitched beep.

Salem tilted his head and looked at Sapptus. He wasn't sure how much more he could do right now, and there were some scans he wouldn't be comfortable running until he saw what the scans he'd just taken said about Yeerk anatomy and composition.

"I think I've got everything I can for now," Salem said to Jasper. "You two can... reengage, or however you say that."

At Jasper's inquiry, Salem glanced over at the wall. "That's a representation of some of the beings outside this ship. In this case, the bright white one is an Andalite I'm... acquainted with. You can see how a couple of the stationary images are Andalite and human shaped." Salem sent a thought-speak command to the ship, causing the entirety of the interior- floor, walls and ceiling- to be covered in a similar style of imaging, showing the bar and forest as dulled neon outlines, and the ships in the yard as slightly brighter outlines. Salem noticed the bright pink shape of the Skimmer hovering over the bar and frowned. And there was Mar, lying on the ground, flanked by Elayne and Temrash. Salem swallowed. Had Mar been injured? He seemed on good terms with Ossanlin, so Salem suspected the swordsman. There was something very wrong with the whole scene. With another thought-speak command, he ordered that portion of the display to zoom slightly.

He turned back to Jasper and shrugged, "It's a fairly effective way of displaying information, at least. Looks to me like there's a fight or something going on out there. I should probably see if I can help."

"Can you get a good read on the humanoid thing that's attacking Ossanlin?" Corliss aks tersely, staring down at the holoscreen readout that shows the position of Ossanlin and Okaru.  "I don't know who he is, but he's trying to kill my brother's friend.  My ally.  And even if it's some duel...we must take action."

He watches, anxiously, as Illim tightens the focus around Okaru.

"If you can get a good read on this strange humanoid, without much collateral?" He glances back at Illim.  "Fire."

We read an unknown terrain vessel on approach. We scanned it as it came closer.

<Claxter, would it be safe to assume that if this vessel fires, we also may assist?>

We found it hard to believe, but we were becoming...bored. Individuality was rather tedious.

Ossanlin's unkind smile never falters or changes as his null-time void strikes Okaru's unconscious form.  It latches onto the human's energy and forms a perpetual barrier, a sort of stasis prison stabilized by Okaru himself.  Ossanlin would no longer need to concentrate to maintain it.

Ossanlin slowly sheathes his glowing katana, still smiling.  He glances at Claxter, dark-purple eyes burning with the intensity of a pulsar.  <Such power...so much power...I could end the war...I could do anything!>  Ossanlin revels in the raw energy now stemming from Mar.  Something tugs at the back of his mind, a nagging voice, an insignificant thought, but it disturbs him.  It's as if this voice will not allow him comfort...such annoyance.  It is now that Ossanlin sees Mar, the true Mar, weakening.  Incarnations, stems of his form in pain, dying...including the one here at the bar.

Ossanlins thoughts jog back...what was he thinking?  Unlimited power?  This was NOT him.  He immediately runs to Mar, seeking the source of the energy feed.  The strange gauntlet.  He glances at Elayne, dark-glowing eyes still alight.  <Move...now.>  Ossanlin wastes no further time, stripping Mar's sleeve back and grasping the gauntlet.  The power...the power was so sweet...but he couldn't keep it, it wasn't his.  His friend would die...with the battle raging in his mind, Ossanlin uses all of his strength to force the energy back into the gauntlet.  The blackness drains from his eyes and his wounds open, blood beginning to seep.  He cries out in pain as the energy no longer buffers him.  Still he pushes the energy away.  Mar's energy was no longer within him, but still he pushes, ceding some of his own energy to Mar.  He feels his aura reduce as the gauntlet seems to start drinking his energy.

He winces as the energy drains from him, pain wracking his body.  His fur reverts to blue, the bright white glow around him fading.  His eyes continue to glow but with a much less almost muted intensity.  Ossanlin breaks the contact with the gauntlet, falling to his side as his wounds begin bleeding more profusely.  He groans, feeling too weak even to morph.

A smile of relief glances across Mar's face when he realizes the War-Prince has triumphed against the swordsman.  He wonders dimly if what he did was alright---the Ossanlin running toward him seemed slightly different. Wait, running towards him?

Mar's eyes widen as the War-Prince's hand and aura make contact with his own. The rush of the power he had sent toward Ossanlin drifts back into him, reawakening the ebbing and flowing tide of voices in his mind. He realizes with surprise that he had provided the Andalite with enough of his own sustenance to nearly kill the body. How foolish he had been, donating his hard-won quarry to a person already possessed of great strength! He could have won the fight without taking Mar's lifeblood, couldn't he? A sick little smile appears on Mar's face as he encounters a particularly delectable morsel. Someone who had once been noble, an honorable fighter and----

Mar rips his arm away and stands up abruptly, causing Ossanlin to fall to his side. The idiot had been adding his own energy into the mix! A dangerous thing to do in the presence of an artifact he knew nothing about. Mar then kneels beside the wounded Ossanlin, staring toward Elayne. "...what a fool. The War-Prince may need help. Thank you for..." Mar bites his lip. "...coming when I fell."

He wasn't sure what else to say. He still felt tired from all the exertion. Much had happened at the Bar.

Ossanlin looks up with his main eyes weakly, seeing Mar...just a few moments ago he had understood the very nature of Mar...now that escaped him, but there is a link now, he thinks.  Some strange connection, as if even though he no-longer grasps Mar's nature, he understands Mar on a deeper level.  <I...I am glad you are alright.  I nearly...I nearly lost myself.  If you hadn't sacrificed for me, I would be...be dead.  Thank you.  I'm so glad you are unharmed.>  Ossanlin's eyes flutter on the brink of consciousness, the glow emanating from them seeming to be a bit darker still.  Ossanlin finds it hard to keep a thought in his head...everything was so fleeting.  Why couldn't it just slow down?
