<How do you plan for us to arrive there? Unless you have birds handy to acquire and morph, we will require a method of transport; it may be advantageous for some of us to acquire human morphs.>
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

That was the perfect plan. It was a little devious, but perfect for the task at hand. This was something he really could be a part of. He no longer had any worries about Tiberius' intentions. Marty thought it would be ironic if he was to play an 'apprentice'. His Global Networking class instructor had asked for his help on a project once.... This would be fun.

"I assume that we would be traveling in the same manner as any other GT&T crew."

Morphing.  Morphing!  Even Mesa, not particularly given to surprise, was...well, surprised.  Reli, an Andalite with all their rules and customs, was going to break their most major law.  It was shocking.  She was almost amused by the commercial reenactment, though.  But she kept quiet about Reli's concern for her family and funds.  She really cared, which warmed Mesa's heart.  So not all Andalites were so aloof.

Chris's...recklessness unnerved her, though.  He clearly didn't understand the dangers.  Prepare for the worst, she told herself grimly.  Chris was thinking of the heroics involved, that was all.  But for some reason, she held back from talking to him.  She felt that it wouldn't be...prudent?  How much Earth had changed her!  Leerans thought freely, were not afraid to talk to one another.  And now...she was restricting herself from warning him!  Jim and Marty seemed to realize the dangers, that was good.  And Reyna seemed to be thinking of the honor she could bring to Yeerk Descendants.  That's good, Mesa thought.  I hope you do.  Despite being on Earth for a while, and already being changed, she still faltered slightly at the lack of response.

And Reli seemed to be getting over some of her prejudice.  Hmm.  That was unexpected...but good.  Maybe one little act of peace could help change things.  Of course, it didn't really help if Reli was exiled or in prison.  And Marty thought Mesa wasn't affected much by emotion...was she?  It's not like that, exactly.  She said privately to him.  Privacy...goodness.  Did she like it?  She didn't know.  It's that...I already know what's coming, I guess.  I have as much emotion as anyone, but letting my emotions get out of control is not.... not what?  not particularly helpful.  Even as she said it, she sounded strange.  What if she was wrong about Leerans?

No, matter, no matter.  She stepped forward, towards the morphing device.  She stretched out a tentacle, and laid it on the cube.  A tingle went up her spine, but otherwise she felt no different.  But that was it.  You may have broken your people's laws, Mesa said privately to Reli.  But it's for honorable intentions.  Who knows what the Kelbrid could do, especially if true Yeerks are involved?  I have a feeling they are not just misunderstood.  And they were to be infiltrating a prison?  What information was to be had in a prison?  She assumed she would take a human morph, people didn't like Leerans on Earth.  Leerans didn't really like Earth, either.  So why am I here?

Kage sat down. Nothing seemed to be happening, so there was not much else to do. He had waved to the others when they said 'hi', but nobody really accepted him into any conversations.

Jim pressed his hand against the side of the cube; a tingle ran up his spine, but nothing else seemed to happen. "I guess that's it," he said to nobody in particular, and stepped aside.
I wonder how well we can pass for apprentices. Chris and I are both still in high school; I hope nobody asks why minors are with the GT&T team. At least I've done well enough in my tech classes that I should be able to get by anyone who questions my skill level. And besides, few people would ask too many questions about the GT&T team they just called for. That does mean we'll need to go in with the team, though. I hope the rest of the repair team knows what's going on so nobody calls us out when we split off.
"I think most of us can and should travel as normal members of the GT&T crew," he said thoughtfully. "It's probably the best way to get past the prison guards without too many questions. Reli, Kage, and Mesa, you may want to acquire human morphs first."

I can't believe my idea was actually used, mine! With that i went up to the cube pressed my hand on it and a tingling sensation went through my body. This is going to be a real blast while it lasts, but then it is going to suck once we have to lose the technology.

"Did you just say we are going to the prison that my dad is the guard at?"

Marco: Now do you see why it's crazy to think we can beat the Yeerks? I mean, come on: We can barely beat zoo security.

Tobias: (now stuck as a hawk) They'll come. The Andalites will come. And until then...
Jake: (nods and wipes tears) Yeah. Until then, we fight.

(Posting on the road, sorry if it isn't prime stuff)

Fisher’s chest tightened and he sucked in his breath as the Andalite delicately pulled out a small, blue cube. A Morphing cube, blue box, Escafil doohickey, whatever you call it. There it was in all of its tiny blue glory.

However while all of the others crowded near it, Fisher jumped to his feet and backed up, arms waving in front of him.

“Oh no, heck no. I ain’t going anywhere near that thing, I’m not stupid enough to try that morphing stuff!” He would have done it, a few years ago, but back at Harmony with nothing to do, they’d watched a lot of movies, horror flicks as well.

Horror producers had jumped for joy about the morphing technology, and soon the theaters were absolutely flooded with movies about people or Andalites or whatever who got stuck in half-morph or something and started going on demented killing sprees. And Fisher didn’t want to ever think about those freakish morph-porns, but he, and almost everyone’s did too, that the producers should be shot.

So now, especially after watching the gruesome and popular Tiger’s Eye series, Fisher was not going to touch a cube for a looong, long time. Patting his pistol, Fisher insisted.

“If push comes to push, I’ll stick with this baby.”
"Now I can't speak for everyone; at least not until 'The Device' is completed."

If Mesa had eyebrows, she would have raised one as she looked at Fisher.  When she saw what was concerning him, she almost laughed.  Movies?  He was concerned about something he saw in movies.  Surely you should know, she said to him.  She figured it might be embarrassing for a human--sensitive as they were--to realize that what he saw was utterly false.  That movies will always exaggerate.  From what I know, you rarely get trapped in half-morph, and even then you don't turn into some kind of killer monster.  We'll have Reli with us, she can time it.  And as for the other thing you were thinking about...well, never mind that.  Ix-Me, that was horrific.  She quickly directed her mind elsewhere.

What on odd reaction from a soldier. He knew several people that held onto irrational fears, but this seemed a little overboard. For any average Jo, there wasn't anything irrational about it. But for a man trained for years to control his inner fears and do his duty regardless of them? Marty noticed the Hork-Bajir's reclusiveness. But that wasn't a surprise. Marty wasn't sure yet if he was considered a Seer yet or not... He had only spoken one word.

'It's not that exactly' he heard in his head. He looked at the Leeran with a slightly puzzled expression. She had a good point. He looked at her and nodded in agreement.

Jim raised an eyebrow. I thought soldiers were usually ready for tough missions, but now he's turning down something that could potentially save his life?
He refrained from commenting, though. Fisher must have had a good reason for his reluctance.

"Reli," Raya says, nodding firmly and committing the abbreviation of her name to memory. She backs quickly away from the device so that others can crowd around and gain the ability themselves. Once she is a few paces back she lifts her hand - the same hand that had just touched the Escafil Device - and looks at it with fascination. The skin looks no different, of course. But it can become different now, she realizes. I can become anything, so long as it has salvageable DNA. The thought sends a second tingle up her spine and she finds her attention drawn to the people around her. Each of them vastly different, and yet somehow connected now, through this technology. The fact that the Andalite was willing to utilize it strikes her as incredibly un-Andalite.

Perhaps this one is different, she reasons. There is little time to dwell on it, though. Tiberi is already hashing out the details of their mission. So soon? She wonders what excuses have been made to her family, who would be expecting her home from her classes soon.

Tiberi returns from the holo-monitor, addressing Chris, "Let me assure you that I do not deal in chance." ...often
"You were all chosen for specific reasons. Some of you may not yet understand why, but in time, I assure you, you will. That also includes your presence here, Kage." He looks at Kage, "I understand that, as a Seer, you have a duty to your people on your homeworld, but I also would like to stress that if the Kelbrid are working with the Yeerks to infiltrate Andalite space, then there is much that you can do here, with us, to help your world."

With the Corporals statement and Mesa's confusion I raise my hand to silence the room a moment. Before, when I left you, I accessed the Corporals Psych Evaluation. "Before, when I left you, I accessed the Corporals Psych Evaluation."
Before, when I left you, I accessed the Corporals Psych Evaluation.
Before, when I left you, I accessed the Corporals Psych Evaluation.

I continue, "We were fully aware of his possible reluctance to accept this ability. It seems that only the most extreme of situations may be enough to sway his decision, but let me stress to you all that this is a choice. You may choose to take this ability, or you may choose not to. Similarly, you may choose to accompany us on this undertaking without this ability. The only difference is that you will not have as much at stake as the rest of us."

I turn to address the Corporal directly, "Let me also inform you that, should you decide to turn down this ability, we have also made arrangements to have your fire-team briefed and made ready to join you, should you still decide to join us."

I continue, addressing you as a group, "As for our non-human compatriots, while we are a Galactic community, Human identities will still be prudent on earth for this particular journey. As such..." I reach down to a spot in the grass, redder than the rest of the pasture, and push with considerable effort. Three vials ascend, like some sort of sprinkler system. Each vials contains blood.

"These vials carry a sample of your blood, taking during your genetic screening process once you arrived on earth. A security measure to ensure your were not illegally attempting to enter or migrate to earth in the morph of a legal citizen." I pause to let this sink in. "As you may have already guessed, Andalite, Leeran and Hork-Bajir blood is not red. This is because we have modified these samples. These vials now contain the DNA of what you would look like, were you human. All appropriate identification documents have been created in association with theses samples."

It's Tiberi's turn to address the group, "As for transportation, I have arranged a private shuttle flight. You will leave this building via shuttle, enter low-orbit and descend towards the prison. This will cut down travel time from 90 minutes to half an hour." He then addresses Shaun, "And yes, your father will be there. Make no mistake, I know that you have visited him in prison and seen that he was an inmate there, but this is due to the nature of his employment. With every visit you have made to him, he has been moved to a separate correctional facility and incorporated as an inmate for that time. I feel you should know that there is a lot about your father and the nature of his past that you do not know..." Tiberi pauses.

Yes... He should know.

He looks at Shaun, his eyes smiling in the way only Andalite eyes can, which is a sight to see on a human body. "You father was a true and trusted friend of mine. He helped me adjust to human life when I was exiled, something he never had the luxury of."

<Forgive me for pointing out an unpleasant point, but firearms of any kind are forbidden inside human penitentiaries since rather early in human history.  Furthermore, as long as it is used according to the instructions I gave, the technology itself poses no risk to the user. The only dangers inherent to morphing, specifically, are overstaying the time limit. As long as I am within thought-speech range, I will keep everybody posted on their individual times left safely within morph.  As for injuries incurred by morphing, the same injuries can be incurred in your natural form, and demorphing automatically heals anything that doesn't kill you faster than you can demorph.  Regardless, please do not feel pressured to use the technology- I only have said these things to clarify misunderstandings.>

Tiberi smiles. "Rest assured, Reli, there is always a postive and a negative in all things, even the Corporals choice. Even if you were to enter the prison as GT&T employees, you would still be required to stay under the watchful eyes of an armed security detail while there."
Tiberi then stands proudly, "As far as human technology has come, it has not come so far as to exceed Andalite standards. Entering the Corporal and his team into the prison database and assigning them as your armed detail will not be that difficult, even if I am limited to five fingers."
