Reyna's already pale skin blanches when the Hork-Bajir walks in. Great. Now I'm surrounded by three, no four aliens, if you count Tiberi. Two with blades and one that can read my mind. This cannot get any worse. She listens intently as Tiberi outlines their "mission", a word Reyna has an immediate aversion to. "Mission" sounds way too life-or-death. I don't belong here...

Reyna's eyes flicker from one speaker to the next as the questions pile on. Each answer leaves her more uneasy than the last, but she lacks the courage to speak up for herself. Instead, she begins wracking her brain for any information about these 'Kelbrid'. Nothing. In all of the history books she has read, not one mention that sticks out. That isn't altogether surprising, but something is nagging at her nonetheless. She feels vaguely as though she has heard the term before, somewhere.

I looked around at all the people in Tiberious' office and then at him as everyone started to sit i stayed standing i'm not much of a sitter not even in school. I still wondered why so many variety of people were here right now most of us didnt even accept the invitations this is so weird.

"Yeah i was just wondering why are we all here, what do you want us to do for you because i have homework that needs to be done and i need to get home to help my mom around the house?"
Marco: Now do you see why it's crazy to think we can beat the Yeerks? I mean, come on: We can barely beat zoo security.

Tobias: (now stuck as a hawk) They'll come. The Andalites will come. And until then...
Jake: (nods and wipes tears) Yeah. Until then, we fight.

He is telling the truth, Mesa told them.  Or, at least, he thinks he is.  I would be willing to partake in this...job as well.  She refrained from using the word "mission."  Reyna was edgy enough without her throwing in that word.  She wanted to send words of encouragement to the Yeerk Descendant, but didn't quite know what to say.  Eventually, privately, she spoke to Reyna.  Although I am an alien, I do not hold any prejudice.  We are not biased like the Andalites, even though Yeerks did attempt to make us Controllers at one point.  It's your actions that matter.  So...don't feel uneasy around me.  Speeches weren't her strong suit.

When Shaun spoke, Mesa blinked in disbelief.  Tiberi just explained, Shaun. she said to the room at large.  Were you not listening?

Sorry i wasn't really paying that much attention i was confused to as why so many humans are here and so few of other races can you just give a brief summary?

Tiberi's source was in a prison? That was odd. Even odder was the fact that the transmission's were coming from there. It was so ironic that Earth, of all places, was the place where the supposed Kelbrid infiltration was taking place. As had been said before, Earth was the hub of galactic travel.

Marty was relieved to hear that Tiberi did not intend to send anyone into Kelbrid space. Not that he was frightened or anything,  but it didn't seem like a safe or wise decision. "This group would be excellent for espionage purposes in Andalite Space. We could blend in perfectly, in almost any crowd." The potential violence bit made Marty concerned. Observation, even spying, he could do. But he wasn't a fighter. That wasn't exactly his strong suit... never had been. In the earlier years of his schooling, Marty had been picked on and bullied a lot. It didn't bother him much now, but he still didn't like physical confrontation. Was he willing to walk into a dangerous situation, where maybe his and his partners' lives were on the line? People were already committing to this 'plan'; on such short notice, too. Their lifestyles must allow this sort of decision making. Marty could easily be gone from his classes for an extended period of time... he was ahead of his peers by more than a month, anyways. And his family wouldn't worry to much about his little 'trip' either, if he decided to come.

In response to Shaun, as the highschooler with homework was apparently named, Marty said, “Perhaps it's because humans are everywhere. We stick our noses into everything, and are well known to explore and travel more than any other race, generally speaking.” Since space travel had become commonplace, Earthlings had spread themselves well over their solar system, not to mention the rest of the galaxy. “And about a 'summary' of Tiberi's purpose for bringing us here, we are wanted to gather information for him that he cannot safely, or legally perhaps, collect for himself.”

Marty then looks at Tiberius, one of the men he'd looked up to as a model citizen. “I would be glad to help with surveillance and reconnaissance work... but I am worried by the potential danger you mentioned. I am no fighter, and I can promise you, I would not be worth your time if it comes to combat.” Tiberi had already mentioned that Reli and the Corporal, whose name he had not yet learned, had earned their places here due to their military experience. Perhaps Marty would be able to serve only as the tech and information expert,  as his own experience and knowledge credentials would suggest.

The Leeran's voice in her head does little to calm Reyna. She is relieved that the Leeran does not seem to hold any prejudices, but doubts that having a psychic frog on her side will do her much good.

Reyna lets up a little involuntary squeak of fear as Marty mentions combat. She has successfully avoided violence most of her life - one of the benefits of being home schooled - but it was not for the lack of trying on the part of the prejudiced. If nothing else, Reyna thinks, I have at least become quite good at avoiding violence. I doubt that's very helpful in this situation, though. Besides...my parents would never approve..

Reyna's gaze drops to the floor and she sucks her bottom lip in between her teeth, gnawing nervously. The idea of speaking up terrifies her, but she feels that it is necessary, before the conversation progresses further.

"Um..." Reyna immediately flushes red after making a semblance of noise, but she barrels forward, forcing herself to look at Tiberi instead of the grass at his feet. "I think you made a mistake, sir." She speaks very quickly and quietly, so it comes out sounding more like ithinkyoumadeamistakesir. "I can't be involved in this. It sounds dangerous, and I've never even been out of this city. I can't fight, and my parents would never let me work with...with..." she trails off, not wanting to say Andalites, but thinking it nonetheless.

"I finally figured out why you want wanted me here Mr. Tiberi, it's because i'm from Earth i moved here only a year ago with my mother to get away from my father and his business. Three weeks before I moved my father was sent to prison, I believe your source from Earth is that of my father."

"Hey Marty don't worry I don't have any training either but one would assume that Mr. Tiberi will be giving us a way to fight if needed."

This all makes sense now. I'm wanted because of my dad and everybody else is wanted for something they did or can do to help.

Tiberi acknowledges Marty's concern. "I understand your reluctance towards violence, but you must understand, I deal in communications and information." he says looking at Marty.
"Your technological knowledge, especially in the field on computer sciences, will be essential for data and evidence gathering. Also, I have a feeling that your... family history will end up being quite beneficial in this undertaking." If that source can even be trusted. Last I heard, he was still orbiting Titan, drinking himself to death, claiming that Hork-Bajir assassinated a human leader named 'Kennedy'.

Turning to Reyna, Tiberi looks at her sympathetically. Prejudices of a bygone time. I truly believe that until the day I die, I will never meet a race who is not guilty of that.

It is I, however, who speaks up. "Reyna, there is also a reason you are here." I look at her meaningfully. "As we have said, the Kelbrid seem to be on earth. The problem is, how has no one noticed a previously never-before-encountered race? Especially in a prison?"

Tiberi chimes in, "There is classified Andalite and Human military information that I was privy to as an Andalite. Information about a lone Yeerk Blade Ship that ran into Kelbrid space during the conclusion of the war. This Blade Ship was never encountered again." He looks at everyone, meaningfully.
"I stipulate that those Yeerks not only fled, but established alliances or even hosts in Kelbrid space, waiting until they had regained their numbers. It is quite possible that the transmissions may be being sent from the prison by human-controllers." Tiberi's sympathetic gaze returns to Reyna, "The reason you are here is because, if this is true, you would be the only kindred link in this group that we would have with the Yeerks."

Tiberi looks knowingly at Reli, "I anticipate that they would react more favourably towards a Descendent than towards an Andalite."

With this, he finally turns to address Shaun, "Unfortunately, Shaun, only half of what you know is true. While it is true that your father is within this prison of which you talk, he is not an inmate. He is a guard. The nature of his placement required not only the utmost secrecy, but also the utmost sacrifice."

"Wow my dad is a prisoner guard I never thought that he of all people would be a guard. I have one more question, you mainly brought high school students here and barely any adults and we have no experience in fighting how do you plan on teaching us to fight in a matter of hours? The best solution would be to have history repeat itself and give us the morphing technology just as Elfangor gave to the Animorphs."

Tiberi raises an eyebrow at Shaun's statement, a human reaction that took him years to achieve naturally and sub-consciously. "The law of Seerow's Kindness may have been relaxed somewhat since the Yeerk-Andalite war, but morphing technology still remains regulated military technology." He gaze drifts towards Reli, "Would you explain on my behalf the consequences of providing untrained youths with high-level military and espionage technology? As well as the risks that are involved with morphing?"

Fisher listened in silence as Tiberi explained that the alleged Kelbrid signals were coming from a prison. His eyes were the only moving body part, widening as he took in the theory about the renegade Yeerk bladeship that escaped into Kelbrid space and that they possibly took hosts or at least made alliances with the Kelbrid, lying it wait to reestablish their numbers.

And maybe even launch a second assault?

Fisher barked out a half-laugh at Shauns proposal.

"I'm no expert, but from what I understand, Elfangor giving the Animorphs that ability was a damn foolish last-ditch effort by a mortally wounded and possibly slightly mentally unstable Andalite, not exactly a sound military decision." Then he turned more serious. "But the kid's right, I mean if we get into trouble, and I have a feeling that we may if what you say is true, the bulk of the others here are not exactly going to be great in a fight."

A gasp of shock escapes Reyna's tightly pursed lips when she is told of a Blade Ship escaping into Kelbrid Space. Real Yeerks? she marvels. Her mind instantly begins whirring with the possibilities...and implications...if that prediction turns out to be correct. She thinks back to her great-grandparents, who, before their passing, had told her stories of the Yeerk war, and the terrible discrimination they had faced in the years immediately following. She remembered the frustration and anger with which they had spoken of the Yedd - symbiotic sell-outs who had chosen to alter their own biology rather than fight for acceptance as their true selves. Reyna was not sure that she shared their anger, but the thought of true Yeerks - not Yedd, and not forced into permanent nothlitism - excited her nevertheless.

Jim was quiet during the conversation between Tiberi and Shaun, taking in the details of the mission. An escaped Blade Ship - the one that killed Rachel the Animorph, no doubt - and now they've got human-controllers? So this really is a delicate mission, involving a lot of major galactic powers. No wonder Andalite High Command wouldn't listen - they didn't want the headache of trying to deal with this!

"Mr. Tiberi, with all due respect, I'm afraid Marty and Shaun are right. Most of us can barely hold our own in a fight with other humans, let alone potential human-controllers with Yeerk weapons. I'm no legal expert, but since most of this mission seems to be unsanctioned, I don't think one more broken rule could do much more damage."
