Hey guys!  I think I've finally figured out what the word "gafrash" means!

I'm pretty certain that "gafrash" is actually just the sound a Hork-bajir makes when it sneezes.  And the reason that you only ever hear Hork-bajir controllers saying it, is because some Hork-bajir are allergic to Yeerks.

Think about it.  No word is used that often in general speech.  It's gotta just be them sneezing at random in the middle of all their sentences.

No . . . come to think of it, I have no idea how I figured it out.  It just popped into my head and I was like, "Of course!"

In other words, the "Totally Random" of Totally Random Animorphs Thoughts.

Kinda like when I figured out that the difference between the Yeerks and the Yoort, was probably oatmeal.

what might your instincts be?

please note: you live in the deepest parts of the pitch black ocean under tons and tons of water pressure. there is no light other than what other bio-luminescent creatures such as yourself with your dangley lure. prey is hard to come by and your light draws your curious prey near enough to snatch them up. food is so scarce that there are some very similar fish very similar to yourself whose jaws can constitute over 60% of their body size in order to maximize their chances of catching their prey and minimizing the rest of their body size in order to reduce overall nutrient requirements for living. the food will somewhat come to you though, because of your lure. anything and everything you can eat, you will craftily use your abilities in order to attempt to eat.

A predator with a somewhat intelligent level of thinking, but still possessing predatorial instincts?

Plus, highly developed eyes to see in the dark?

Anything that lives that deep would need to spend most of its time conserving energy, since there's so little food at that depth. Chances are your instincts would basically be 'sit still or move slowly, unless it's time for mating or there's potential food nearby.' As far as predators go, I'd think an anglerfish would be one of the most laid back. Even hunting for them consists of just turning on the light and waiting for food to basically swim into their faces.

How the heck would one go about acquiring an anglerfish, though? Don't they die if they come into water that's too shallow? How would one morph an anglerfish without dying before reaching the proper depth?

Gain the power to morph.
Acquire a giant squid and become a nothlit
Be compelled to lead an aquatic species of Yeerk host to form a new colony, and recieve the ability to morph again from the Ellimist, with squid as your "true" form
Find and acquire angler fish

Oh, yeah. Really simple. Perhaps I can also throw in the superior technology acquired stolen from the Andalites to help your Hork-Bajir army breathe underwater. How come I didn't see this before?
