Actually, though, given how many times there have been typos in the books confusing thought-speech for regular speech, I totally would not be surprised if this HAS happened.

it has, and i remember having an argument with my friend about it, it happened before book 13 and my friend assumed it meant he got his morphing power back.

     Marco: (Runs into the barn, obviously excited about something) Jake, Cassie. Come quick!
     Cassie: What?
     Marco: You've got to see this. It's incredible.
     
     (Jake, Cassie and Marco run off to follow Marco. Marco leads his friends to Rachel's house)

     Marco: Tobias called me over here. He said he couldn't believe it. Take a look!

     (The group look on, bewildered at the sight before them)

     Jake: That's incredible!
     Cassie: It's disgusting!
     Marco: And it's our Rachel.

     Rachel: (Sitting at a small table, wearing a blue dress and serving tea to a stuffed bear, tiger and gorilla) Would you like some more tea, Mr. Nesbit?

     Marco: If you think this is coo-coo, I saw Ax throwing away a cinnamon bun this morning.

     Rachel: (Busts into the room as a grizzly, where Taylor is torturing Tobias, only to see an empty cage, and Visser Three serving escargot to Taylor and Tobias) Tobias! I'm here to save you...

     Taylor: Who's she?
     Tobias: Her? Uh...No one...A friend.
     Rachel: A friend? A friend!?
     Tobias: Alright...We sorta had a thing going...
     Rachel: Sorta had a thing!?
     Taylor: You dated a bear?
     Tobias: It's complicated...
     Visser Three: Would you still like that wine, sir?
     Tobias: Actually...I think we're just gonna go...We'll have this roasted chicken to go.
     Cassie: (Walking in) Hey, Tobias. Am I late for the date?

     (Tobias looks from Rachel, to Taylor, to Visser Three, to Cassie.)

     Tobias: Well...this is a little awkward...

     Karen: (Crying): She's the caterpillar. I told her to morph out--that I was only kidding. But she couldnt hear me.
     Rachel: So, that caterpillar is Cassie?
     Karen: Yes.

     (Suddenly, Jake's foot stomps down hard on Cassie in caterpillar morph.)

     Karen: What the hell! Why did you do that for?
     Jake: The fans demanded it.

Erek:  "I'm pretty sure projecting a hologram of ground over a cliff wouldn't be breaking my programing.

     Tobias: See? He's been standing there for days. He just stands there and waits by that mailbox.
     Jake: Ax, what on Earth are you doing?
     Ax: Well, it's obvious, isn't it? I'm waiting for my letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's supposed to be delivered by owl.
     Marco: Ax...those are just books. Fictional characters don't exist and have conversations like normal people (glances at audience).
     Ax: You are upset because you have not received your letter.
     Tobias: Ax...listen...

     (Suddenly, a barn owl swoops down and lands on the mailbox. It has a letter in it's beak. Ax takes it and hands it to Jake.)

     Jake: It says "To Mr. Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill, at the scoop in the middle of the Californian wilderness...we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry..."

     Tobias: I don't believe it.
     Marco: Where did that mailbox come from?
     Ax: (Happy) I must go and prepare. I have a lot of magic to study.
