Since I haven't been to nationals I haven't even won any medals so what does she want with me? Did you pay her off? Are you two having an affair and she owes you a favour?"

Jake: <But you're supposed to be dead by now! What happened to the 3 day limit?>
Yeerk: <Fool. It's AVERAGE 3 days. I have about 3 hours left. More than enough time to go to the Yeerk pool.>

Yeah, just like it's really ABOUT two hours, which is why they managed to morph out in book 3. It's just ABOUT three days.

I never really understood why it had to be exactly 2 hours or 3 days. As everyone knows, the sun makes one orbit around a planet but how long that takes depends on the distance of the sun to the planet. Same goes for how long it takes for the planet to rotate about it's axis. I know that the Andilite home world has more than one sun but their definition of a day or year would be kind of different. So Cam's alternate perspective actually makes more sense. But Im glad it didnt happen like that.

It probably is approximate, but really really close, ie 2 hours and 30.192 seconds and 2 days, 23 hours, 58 minutes 23.1 seconds.

In the case of morphing, demorphing gets harder as time goes on (remember how the Anis tend to have a harder time demorphing when they cut it close) until sometime around 2 hours it becomes impossible.  Though I would guess that it becomes practically impossible long before it becomes theoretically impossible.

In the case of yeerks and kandrona starvation, they use up nutrients and stuff as time goes on and after about 3 days without feeding, they run out and die.  I would imagine that, as with real animals, the exact time varies depending on the characteristics and health of the particular yeerk, environmental factors, etc.
