<Jethsa's here, and she's badly injured,> says Sam, padding closer, snuffling.  <There's a boy, and Kasey, Jas is here too.  Jethsa?  Torrence, she won't answer, I don't know what to do.  She's in pretty bad shape.>  She looks up at the boy.  <What happened here?  Oh...oh, Jas you're right, there is the scent of death in here, I don't like it.>  Sam whimpers, stepping back and forward, agitated.

Reece and Alec find the others at Jethsa's ship, although it was greatly complicated by Alec's refusal to slow down and wait for Reece.  Reece was forced to run the whole way and arrives at the ship some what fatigued.

A wise member realizes that the two hours is approaching for many of the people who morphed first, making demorphing necessary for most of the group.

Every one has a few very tension filled moments to meet the young man who had been inside Jethsa's ship when they arrived.  Vincent's presence may cause some concern for the others- will they hide their true identities from him or do their best to inspire friendship?  Vincent, however, is aware that the one being who was straight with him from the beginning, Jethsa, remains unconscious.

All are aware of the smell and grave fact that some thing dead is about. Vincent knows in grisly detail just what is in the back of the ship.

Alice locates Damien as he completes his morph to a guenon monkey.  The two can converse if they choose to.  Damien's had several stressful and physically draining hours fleeing Controllers, while Alice has been given orders to find the Escafil, determine its proper place and give a full report on the humans who can morph to the other Chee.  Do these circumstances affect Damien and Alice's reunion?

Elsewhere, a Hork Bajir meets up with the Collaborator Sub Visser Fifty Two, Jariss 987, who is controlling Mary,  Damien's mother.  It is the one who never reappeared at Jethsa's ship and who, presumptively, never saw it appear.

The second Collaborator, whose host's name was Janice, was made to stand out of ear shot for the debriefing. This annoyed Janice's Yeerk, Carnath 7901,  greatly.  There were few Yeerks in this area of California, making it all the more important for key institutions to be infiltrated, allowing the Yeerk presence to grow.  Carnath 7901 had several ideas that she thought would benefit the endeavor- and exalt her over her superior, Sub Visser Fifty Two.

Finally, the Sub Visser approached Carnath and informed her to call her hosts coworkers.  Janice was a member of a local disease prevention team, chosen due to the host's well placed friends.  Janice left the Sub Visser at the woods edge and drove to a pay phone where she announced that a possible disease had broken out in the woods.  She'd witnessed a sick deer- so diseased it was barely recognizable- and feared that it could spread.  Satisfied that other humans would arrive to seal off the woods and test anyone within it, she expected that Sub Visser's hosts' son would be found quickly.  She departed the gas station to drive back to the woods...

Reece stalls behind a few trees to demorph. As Miller's features melt away, he pauses for a breath. He'd rather not waste any more energy morphing again than he'd have to, so instead he enters the ship cautiously, hands in front of his face. He is greeted by the sight of his friends, the unknown human, and the unconscious Andalite.

Damien freezes seeing Alice. Even his long tail stays completely still. The guenon monkey instincts fights with his human minds, and wins. Alice... an intruder, he must protect his home! The monkey's instincts where supported by his human mind's panic. With both of these factors Damien was unable to reconize Alice. He screeched and lept at Alice with enough force to knock her over. If she was human...
That'sssss a very nice possssst you have there... It'd be a sssshame if something happened to it...

Still in CL-form, I scented Reece's arrival before I saw him, though I didn't recognize the scent right away of course. I looked over at the ramp-entrance to see him climbing up into the ship with us.

<<Ah, Reece!>> I called in private thoughtspeak greeting to him, then continued in open thoughtspeak: <Just the man! If I remember correctly; You've got a Gorilla morph, right?> I indicated Jethsa with a tilt of my head, <We may require Big Jim's services to carry her back to either Kasey's place or to... ahem... Our 'mechanical' friends? They met an Andalite before, so they may know how to treat her injuries...> I suggested. It was a guess, but Alice had mentioned meeting an Andalite before, and they'd gotten the blue box from somewhere, right?

A few others had gone to demorph by now, but I figured I'd been in this particular morph maybe 5-10 minutes less than they had theirs. I thought again about whether we could possibly fly Jethsa's ship... I mean, I had no clue how it worked, and it probably wasn't designed with humans in mind... An idea just flashed like a light-bulb over Edison's head:

<I've been thinking about how we might be able to fly this thing... I'm pretty good with gadgets, after all... I know it's probably not designed to have a Human interface, but there is a creature in here that it probably IS designed to have an interface for...> I nodded at Jethsa, <If she were consious enough, I'd ask her directly, but... Do you think she'd mind me morphing her in order to try and fly this ship and get her to some proper medical attention?> I asked openly of those of us who were in the ship.

Coming across a partly-morphed Guenon monkey, I realized immediately who it must be: Damien. - I remembered him acquiring one on our trip to the Gardens. It became evident very quickly that he hadn't tried this morph before now, as before I could even try to greet him the now-completed monkey-morph leaped at me with a screech.

Had I been in 'Alice-mode' I would have had to pretend to flinch and be knocked down by this monkey, but I was not in that 'mode' right now: Cseirouna was a much less restricted human-mode, where I could relax the restrictions on my Chee speed, strength and agility somewhat, but not completely of course - I still had to make her abilities seem within human possibility, after all.

Still, this monkey was easy enough for 'Cseirouna-mode' to deal with: I side-stepped its leap and grabbed one of its arms in midair, holding it at arms' length so it couldn't reach my face or body to attack.

"Hello Damien." I greeted him plainly, "Would you please calm down and stop attacking me? - Do you perhaps not recognize my current form? I'll give you a clue - I'm the person who gave you the morphing power in the first place." I said the last sentence in a whisper, not wanting to be overheard.

I intended to put the monkey back down on the ground if/when it calmed down and Damien recognised me as a friend.

I now had an extra complication in my previous mission: How to get Damien to safety yet stay hidden from the others myself... I decided that when he'd calmed down enough I'd tell him I could take him to our friends but that the Chee had given me a task to do before I could rejoin them myself. I'd give him the choice of rejoining our friends, or accompanying me on my task. Hopefully my show of faith in him would garner a better bond of friendship and trust between us...

"A gorilla with an Andalite in its arms lacks the stealth to make its way through suburbia," Reece points out. "And I don't know that it'd have the speed to pull it off, either. If you think you can fly this thing without being seen, saving her life is gonna balance out any morph squickiness."

Jas flicked his tongue one last time before beginning to demorph, growing off of the floor of the ship, his arms and legs sprouting from his body as his tail shriveled up.  He grew in size, and his scales turned peach and melted into tanned flesh.  He stood up and was pleased to see the bike-shorts still clothing him, though he didn't feel they left much to the imagination.  Truth was they were a bit too tight, even for bike-shorts, and he didn't want to be rude by grabbing himself in front of all these people, so he shifted from foot to foot a couple of times to try and adjust himself unobviously.  When he failed he just stood and looked around again.

"I talked to Jethsa about morphing other people and she said it was really a question of morality.  By the way, we still don't know who he is.  At least I know most of you guys' names...how did he get in here, did we think about that?  He might be a Yeerk."  Jas looked at vincent with his piercing brown eyes.  "How did you get in this ship?"

Torrence, smaller now that she had demorphed, stepped up the ramp behind the others.  It was now very crowded in the ship with so many of them inside of it, they were forced to stand close together in the compact ship.

"Well, he's pretty calm for a Yeerk. I mean, if they found an Andalite and a group of kids who could become animals, would he still stick around? I assumed he'd race off to the Mothership."

Alec frowned down at Jehsa, crouching beside her to look at her extensive burns.

"Why do you want to morph her again?" He asked Eddie. His jovial nature had vanished with the dog morph.  "Have you ever morphed a person?"

"Unless he was caught by surprise. He looks like he's all alone. If I were a Yeerk and I saw us, I'd definitely keep my cards close to my chest until I was able to arrange an ambush." Reece peers into the boy's eyes. "Is there any way to tell with these dudes? Looking in his ears seems too... easy."

<Guys, uh, I just realized...I can't demorph.  I just can't.  I'll be all...nekkid,> says Sam hesitantly.  <I don't suppose these Andalite guys wear any clothing.  And, um, well...Jethsa never said how we could tell who was a Yeerk and who wasn't, she just said it was damn near impossible to do.>  She squints her dim doggie eyes at Vincent, a strange expression for a dog.

<Hmm, well I guess your Miller morph could probably carry her too... But would that look any less weird? I think that'd just draw Yeerk attention to Miller: They might infest him, then we'd have a bigger problem if we wanna get more morphs from The Gardens. I certainly don't have any morphs able to carry her myself, I merely remembered that you did.> I replied to Reece, not bothering to make my thoughtspeak private. <And yeah, if we can figure out how to fly this thing, moving her at all may become unnecessary. As for being seen - This thing apparantly has some sorta Romulan Cloaking Device or whatever that made it invisible to us when we were only a few feet outside of it earlier, so my guess is this thing can fly invisible too... If only we can work out how...>

I looked around for consoles and/or control panels, anything with buttons really. I'd seen that Jethsa had humanoid hands and fingers, albeit too many but where there are fingers there can usually be found some button to push. Made sense to me, anyway.

Reece's reassurance that the Andalite would probably forgive my morphing her without her permission if doing so lead to saving her life was a great relief and helped bolster my resolve to the prospect of morphing an alien without knowing ahead of time how it would react...

Plus: It would be REALLY cool to try out such an awesome-looking body... NO! I mustn't let such ambition cloud my objectivity over how necessary this might be for her survival... And possibly our own, of course.

When Jas spoke, after demorphing, I thought about the words he said he'd heard Jethsa use. <So she didn't say how Andalites felt about morphing sentient beings? Just that it was a 'question of morality' and nothing more? Hmm, well do you think it's morally right to morph her in the hopes that doing so may save her life?> Again, I didn't bother thoughtspeaking privately.

As Jas addressed the mystery-boy, I glanced at him briefly - It was difficult to consider him a threat while in my current morph, but I was also distracted thinking how we might control this ship and if it would even be safe to do so...

Torrence appeared on the ramp into the ship, and space was getting tight. My CL didn't like being crowded like this, and its magnificently long and thick tail swished anxiously. Torrence was saying something about the boy, so I lost interest pretty quickly: There were plenty of us in here to deal with him, whether friend or foe, they didn't need any further input from me on that topic.

Alec, however, asked a question more pertinent to my train of thought; <I'm thinking of morphing Jethsa, because this ship is probably designed with an Andalite pilot in mind, not a Human one.> I answered openly, <And no, I haven't morphed a person before, but Reece has, and he seems to think this would be ok...> It was a strong answer, but there was a hint in my thought-voice of the hesitation and nervousness I had at the prospect and possible consequences of such an action.

Reece spoke again, but as soon as I realized he was talking about the boy I tuned him out to concentrate on thinking how this ship might work.

Despite tuning Reece out easily, I was far more distracted when Sam explained her own 'tricky' situation; It took some effort to stop thinking about having a full-grown naked woman in the same room as me and get back to thinking about flying the ship. While I was distracted, I noticed an opening leading to another part of the ship... <Hey Sam, if you want some privacy while you remorph, it looks like there's a walkway over there - Might lead to another room?> I suggested, again openly, <Just to forewarn you though: The scent of death is stronger in that direction...> I added.

Little did I know that there were bodies down there with some sorta sheet as a shroud, but my exquisite sense of smell had picked up spoiled meat easily, prey too far gone to eat safely. Well, that's what the CL thought anyway, and having that thought made me a little queasy.

"Smell of death?" Reece asks, visibly disturbed behind his hands. He looks over to the room. "Sam, if you're worried about nudity, you might be better off outside." He tries to keep the tally of potential problems in his head: one severely injured Andalite, someone who may or may not be a Controller, and the smell of something dead in the next room. His stomach hurts.

"Sam, you have to demorph...you're not enough of a...well you know where I'm going with this.  Anyway you can't be stuck as a dog."  Jas was concerned, but heard Eddie speak.  "Well, I don't think it's a common practice from the way she talked about it.  I was the one who asked the question.  Having dealt a bit with this morphing now though, animal brains are pretty strong...what would it be like to try and control another brain capable of sentience?  I guess that's what Yeerks do...but...what would happen?"

Jas looked around in thought for a moment before looking down the blocked corridor.  "Jethsa didn't say anything...but it looks like this ship, seeing it from the inside, was built for more than one...could there be others?"

Kasey snarls at the pinned "controller" and looks around at the others. <My time's almost up. Can one of you take over while I go to demorph?>

"Eddie, if you're going to try and morph Jestha to fly this thing, you'll want to act fast," Reece says, worried. "I can't even tell how injured she is- how human is her body?"

Christina "If by 'take over' you mean I have to sit on him, uh, no." Christina, very much human in Kasey's borrowed morph outfit, replied.
"He looks like he could pick me up and walk off just fine. Besides, theres tons of us, so let's just stand in his way so he doesn't run out."

"No offense, guy," She says to the stranger. "But we don't even know who you are. Or your name.  Which might be a step to not being sat upon."
