While I was directing my sensors at the lady, I compared her with the woman in the video - She was definitely the same person, even wearing the same clothing. As my sensors locked on, the parabolic microphones in my 'ears', that worked like directional dog-ears, picked up part of what she was whispering:
"Ho____Ja__ if I can't ____________ I'll have to run for it, you'll need to turn back____..."
I glanced at Kasey-Lab: She was bound to have heard part of the whisper too, but maybe not the same part as I heard...
At that moment, Torrence addressed me by a fake name, then said something I could twist my response to so that I could get a message to them about what I'd heard the Samatha lady whisper;
"Hehe, yeah! I can tell she wants to run, and soon!" I responded with matched enthusiasm. Reggie was, of course, a MALE Labrador: Samantha probably hadn't looked closely at the dog, leastways not close enough to tell male from female, but hopefully Torrence and Kasey would pick up that by 'she' I secretly meant the woman.
An idea came to me:
"Hi Sam!" I called in a convincing 'I recognize you' tone of voice, "Long-time no-see, girl! ... You do recognize me, don't you? From high school? I sure as heck remember you, Samantha Wagner!"
I put on a friendly, nostalgic expression of recognizing an old friend from a long time ago, for the sole benefit of Samantha if/when she turned to try and recognize me.
Ah acting... Where would we Chee be without the ability to pretend to be something/someone we are not? And we'd had SO much practise at it over the millenia...
