The guard looked down at Reece's hands, opening his mouth in surprise.  In a split second however, his mouth hung open as his eyes glazed over. His mouth slowly closed as he gave Reece a blank look.

"Brit?" Christina bent over and gently lifted her shoe. "Oh, I'm sorry! Are you okay?"

She placed her hand on the ground beside him. "Do you want me to put you back on the wall? I don't want to touch you if you're getting dried out..."

Christina turned and studied the latticework. She swore loudly as she saw the pule of broken wood.
"The latticework is down. Reece and I need to find another way in- Brit, you can probably crawl in right?"

<<Torrence? Have you morphed yet? Can you find Damien? Where is he? Who else is over? We should get out of here ASAP and start acquiring new morphs...the others can catch up with us as soon as they get away from that gaurd.>> She hesitates for a moment <<Can the others even hear us?>>

Torrence

"I haven't morphed and I can hear you in my head," Torrence replied to Kasey. "-and yeah, it's creepy, like Reece said. Okay... trapped... trapped..." She paused as she came across Damien's clothes.

"Found you, don't freak, man. I'm not going to eat you." She gently started lifted clothes until she found the Damien - salamander. She began gathering all of the clothes that had been thrown over the brick entrance way.

"Okay, I'm hiding our clothes over here under the elephant statue." Torrence decided, tucking the folded clothes under the vast statue. "- as salamanders can't carry 'em. Do you guys want to hop on me and we can get to the first animal we want? I mean, it will take us forever to motor as salamanders right?"

Eddie:

As Kasey grabbed my clothes I found myself glad that I'd morphed far enough that none of my anatomy looked human any more but yet the Salamander-mind had not announced its presence yet. - If it had, I'm sure it would not have liked such sudden movements around it.

The last few details morphed into place, and here came the mind: Panic! Warmth! Dryness! RUN!! I scampered over the seat of my wheelchair, exploring the corners and deciding to hide in one of the back corners in the leather-clad gap between the seat-cushion and the arm-rest.

It was lucky the salamander decided to hide so soon really, as it gave me the chance to overcome its mind while it wasn't as panicky.

I exerted my own control and tried to lower the miniscule heartrate, breath and relax a bit, but that was not an easy task with this skittish prey-animal. I didn't like it. I REALLY didn't like it.

Once I calmed down, I commanded my tiny body to move to the middle of the wheelchair-seat before I started speaking.

<Okay, I've decided I don't particularly like this morph. Hmm... If I've understood Alice correctly, even if I break some salamander-bones they will heal when I next morph, right?> I just about caught a glimpse of someone nodding. I assumed it was Alice, as that was about the place she'd been stood when I'd started morphing.

<In that case: Somebody throw me over the wall? I don't really want to stay in this body any longer than I have to, and even if I do get injured when I land, I'll be able to demorph out of the injuries. I think.>

Somebody picked me up - Again I think it was Alice - and turned toward the wall. <Please don't do any practise-throws? I'd rather not bounce back off the wall...> Then I was in mid-air, sailing high over the wall.

<YAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH HH!!!>... Flump. - I'd landed on grass and gotten winded, but I seemed to be otherwise-intact. - so far as I could feel, anyway.

<... I think that worked out quite well. If anyone else fancies SalamandAirways, all I'll say is it definitely wasn't fun, and it's best to land on grass or something softer. I think I got bruised pretty good, too; I'm finding movement causes some minor pain, but nothing I couldn't live with. I'd appreciate a ride to the nearest complimentary cripple-cart so I can get out of this unpleasant morph, please.>

< That works, Torrence. I'm going to try to make my way out from under this bush. Let's make sure we find everyone before we go. Who are we missing? It sounds like Damien, Brit, you, and me are all on this side. Where are Christina, Alice and Reece?> Kasey begins to crawl out from under the bush, fighting the signals she's receiving from the salamander brain to stay put. The surface of the ground changes from large pieces of wood, to grass twice her size. She eventually reaches a smooth, cool surface. <Torrence, I think I'm on a sidewalk or something. Do you see me?>

Reece removes his hand from the guard and then waves it in front of the eyes, trying his best to look concerned. "Hey man!" he says. "You alright? I was just passing by but stopped because you seemed a little zoned out. Do you want me to call you a doctor?"

The guard blinked but gave no notion of responding to Reece. For all intensive purposes, he seemed to be out of it completely.  He stood there holding the walkie to his mouth, but made no attempt to use it.

Torrence "Yeah, I see you."  Torrence moved to gently pick up Kasey and place her on her shoulder.

"Any one else want a ride?" Torrence crouched down, hand extended to any salamanders she could see. "All aboard the salamander express."

For several moments Torrence scouted for any interested salamanders and gently transported them to her shoulders and arms.
"Okay," Torrence decided. "Lets go find Eddie a transport and then I'll get us to some animals."

It took Torrence a few moments to locate the wheel chair rental area. She helped herself to a wheelchair and began pushing it along the curved path.

"I found a wheelchair, Eddie, I'll push it along until you demorph."

Torrence continued for another few minutes until she paused at the two signs. One said 'Bear canyon' and another 'Cat canyon'. The teenager checked her wrist watch, noting that five minutes had passed since they first morphed, and she relayed this to the salamanders. Torrence headed into the Cat Canyon and stopped walking pretty quickly, securing the wheel chair's brakes.

"Okay, we're in cat Canyon. We' just passed some meerkats, goats and pigs," She checked out the exhibits next to them "- and I've stopped at the fisher cat and the leopards. There's some bigger cats up ahead.  I'm going to try and acquire the leopard."

Deciding not to hesitate, Reece bolts for a side of the gate beyond where the guard can see. He scrambles to scale up the side, breathing heavily.

<Im ok> Brit answered Christina by giving a wiggle of his tail. He shot up her leg and settled down on her shoulder. <Seeing as how your shoe nearly crushed me i nominate you to be my human taxi>. If he had been human he would have grinned. <Besides if i went through on my own i would get lost! Hell, i dont even know if we're on the right side now! And lets face it my James Bond moves arent going to work in this morph>

"Okay," Christina states to Brad, turning to watch Reece move quickly.  "Oh, Reece found a way over!"

She trots  after Reece and studies his way over dubiously as Reece scrambled up the gate.
"You okay?" She stepped forward to assist Reece, perhaps make a leer with her hand so that Reece could boost himself over.

Reece managed to find his way over the gate and fell to the other side, unharmed.

"Hang on, Lizard man." Christina said as she hopped up to grip the fence and began to scramble over herself.  There was a scary moment as she teetered at the top, but she managed to get her legs under her and jump down to the ground.

"Okay. That was okay," Christina stated, glancing to Reece. "- I have Brit." She indicated the salamander.

"Where should we head to now?"

<Is it safe to, uh, un-morph, Torrence? I want to acquire the leopard too.> Kasey asks.

Reece grins as he lands. "Easy as pie. Never a moment to panic. Also, we all now have rufinol for fingers." He stands up and brushes the bush debris off of his ass and out of his hair. It was nice having a reasonably durable and capable human body, even if one was just going to turn it into a rhinoceros. Speaking of, Reece heads over to the zoo map and scratches his chin. "Where do you guys reckon the rhinos are kept?" he asks.

"Oh, yeah." Torrence blurted, feeling guilty for not mentioning that fact.

"No one around but us. Here, I'll put all of you on the ground. Which one of you is Eddie? Eddie? "

She gently places several salamanders on the ground, except the one she ascertains is Eddie. She places his salamander body on the seat of the wheelchair and double checks that the brakes are applied.

"You're in the chair, Eddie."

Torrence turned and moved closer to the leopard.
"I'll give you guys some privacy while I get to know our girl here."

She crept up the hillside that the large exhibit had been built into. Her foot caught on something that caused her to stumble against the cage- and she looked up to see the leopard watching her casually from its perch six feet away.  Even in its casual lounging position, it seemed certain she wasn't a threat.  The teenager climbed further up the hill until she found the cage door. Trying the handle, she found it locked.

She studied the cage around the door handle- the gaps were in inch or two square at the most, likely to prevent the hands of idiots to fit through.  Stepping back, she thrummed the salamander morph she'd acquired with the others.  Her skin immediately began to change, rippling over her hands, arms and face. She began to shrink, but not before her limbs began to shrink.  Just a little more...

The things that had once been her hands had now shrunk considerably.  Unfortunately, so had her legs. She stopped the morph, finding herself eye level with the door.  Shifting her oddly not helpful legs, she hefted herself up onto a rock.  She inserted her hand through the gap around the door knob, small enough to slip in and press the locking mechanism. She did an odd jiggling motion for several moments trying to get her hands over to the mechanism.  Apparently salamanders elbows didn't function right- or did they not have elbows?  It took much too long than she first imagined, but she managed to depress the mechanism with a click.

"Dooosh," She tried to signal the others, only to realize her mouth and tongue had shrunk as well.  Only thing for it was to morph back to human, which she began to do.

"That's African right?"  Christina hedged, walking over to look at the map as well. "African Savannah." Her finger darted to the map, indicating a large area to their left.
"Isn't that the one where its all open ground with lots of animals and you ride the tram through it?"

Reece nods. "Sounds about right. That should make it fairly easy to get to the rhinos. Or to get killed by them. Um... hm."
