"A pleasure to meet you, young lady."  The pleasant female responded to Autumn. "As well as you, Brit."

The woman was quiet as the teens discussed their options.
After a minute, she offered:

"Whatever you decide, do so quickly. If you desire to save those being infested, there isn't much time.
Alice would be needed to drive any one here to the Blue Box to acquire the power. Shall you all attempt to get the list now- or some of you - or after you acquire the power?
This is no time to be indecisive."

Damien began muttering under his breath, seeming to talk to himself, almost as if it was his way of reasoning, with himself,"Maybe we should get the paper after we get the morphing power... or whatever, you said that the morphing power was a product of the andalites, so wouldn't they suspect only andalites ot have the power.... we sneak in, if anything happens we morph something small, I'm suspecting that the 'power' has some drawbacks, maybe they'll suspect the drawbacks to be affecting andalites, so if we could twist them..."he trailed off,"What are the restrictions of the morphing power? We can't make any decisions based on using the power if we don't know its advantages and disadvantages..."

Kasey stops in her tracks for a moment, her eyes widen, then she darts forward to be next to Alice. She touches her arm to get her attention, "Alice, even if we get the list, they still know who I am. My family is plastered all over the place, and they saw me. I was inches away from them...." She swallows hard, "What am I going to do? As soon as I get home, I'm going to be...infested." She begins to look slightly green again.

"I think the power first, then we go and get that list." Autumn was firm in her choice, having firepower behind her would help, if a fight broke out she would be much more able to fight and not get caught, or so her mind said. "Wait, Damiens right!" Autumn exclaimed, taking a deep breathe. "Then don't go home Kasey. I have enough room in my place if you ever need it. Unless someone has a better idea?" A shrug of her shoulders before she went silent again.

Kasey glances at Autumn, and hesitantly replies, "Thanks... I don't think my dad would let it rest, though. If I don't come home, he'll look for me, and he'll have everyone in the city looking for me. I just...I can't do that to my parents." She takes a deep breath, then asks again "Alice, what am I going to do?"

Reece runs his fingers across his scalp. Seriously? He asked himself. It was too late for his Sandra, but as for this god-damned Kasey girl... He straightened up and spoke, clearly if a bit distantly.

"If Kasey's dad hasn't been taken yet, there's still some chance we could save him. And if he's running for mayor, we need to keep him safe from these things." Reece rubbed his face and sighed. "Assuming we're not all tripping balls, that is."

"Good point, we need to keep up the appearances of being normal right? Like, act as if we don't know this is happening. That will help us survive longer. Right?" Autumn looked ahead at Alice, wondering if the other girl would answer.

Alice:

Damien was the first to answer my question; He wanted to stay and wait for the second trip. I got the impression he had further questions for me that he was too shy to voice in front of so many people...

Reece's concern for my safety was touching, despite him covering that up with concern for the group at large.

It was not so surprizing that Brit agreed with Reece on this point, though it seemed to surprize the both of them that they could agree on anything. His reasoning was sound, and I was glad to find that some of the group could think things through rather than just plunge head-long into action that might be dangerous. His idea to accompany me into the building had its merits too, though I was not sure how much help a normal human could be. Maybe if he already had morphing-power, his idea might work...

Reece's idea of pulling the fire-alarm to get the building evacuated was also a good one: If we could snag a controller for me to 'morph', it would be that much easier to sneak in and get that list.

Autumn seemed happy to go along with whatever. I tried not to think of her as a sheep just following the group around, it wouldn't be fair on her. Doubtless she'd have her moment to show us what she was made of eventually. If four people wanted to take the first trip, Autumn seemed happy enough to wait. If only three volunteered to go with Eddie this time, Autumn was just as happy to go with them.

I did a quick head-count: 9 of us. Eddie+4 passengers on the first trip, left Me+3 behind to make the 4 passengers of the second trip. Ah well, at least I wouldn't have to pretend to drive my scooter then. We had one of the 3 who could stay behind already - Damien. I supposed technically 4+Me could stay, in which case I'd be taking my fake scooter back to the safe-house... Better if it's only 3+Me staying really though. I wondered to myself which group would fill first: Stay-ers or Go-ers...

All of a sudden, Kasey ran up and touched my arm. Evidently she had something important to discuss. I listened to what she had to say... My face saddened at hearing she'd be a priority-infestation for the Yeerks - Not only because of today, but also because of her dad's political influence.
"I don't know what we can do about that yet..." I answered, "I may need a bit of time to come up with something useful... Jenny might have some ideas, if you take the first trip with Eddie you could discuss it with her in person?" I half-suggested. In reality I was thinking that the sooner my friend Kasey was safe with the other Chee, the better.

Autumn's idea of having Kasey stay over with her sounded like a good temporary solution, and I gave Autumn a nod of approval for offering.

When Kasey asked me again what she was going to do about the threat of imminent infestation of her family and herself, I still hadn't fully thought through a decent idea, not permanent anyway.

"I guess we could keep surveillance of your family in morph between us... At least then we'd know when- Sorry, I mean if any of them get infested. Perhaps stay over Autumn's tonight, we'll start surveillance tomorrow so you can go back to them and stop them worrying about your absence. If they try to sneak up on you, we can give you a heads-up." I suggested, coming to a stop and putting my hand on her shoulder for reassurance.

We were now only a few trees away from being able to see the car-park; And being able to be seen from it, if there were hostiles in the area. It was a good idea to stop here and split-up rather than all of us entering the car-park...

"Everyone, wait up a second: We shouldn't all enter the car-park together. Only those of you going with Eddie now should enter the car-park. I'll go in first and see if there is any CCTV to worry about: If it's clear, I'll give a signal, then circle around to meet back up with those who are staying here with me. Eddie and those going with him should then sneak to the car and drive off.
If I spot any surveillance, Eddie will have to drive off by himself and pick up whoever's going with him somewhere else.
Just so we're clear: Who is going and who is waiting with me and Damien for Eddie's return?"

I looked to Autumn to address her question: "Yes, we'll need to appear as normal as we can in front of potential Yeerks, and parents alike. We don't want them thinking any of us is acting suspiciously, or they'll just acquire that person by force to find out what's going on."

With that, I waited for their decision of stay vs go. Once the two groups were decided, I'd go scan for surveillance in the car-park.

"I'll stay behind," Reece offered. "If anyone comes after I'm fast enough I should be able to outrun them. But we still need to figure out what we're doing about this list, and Kasey's father. If we're able to get the list, we might at least have some hope of saving ourselves."

"Ill stay with Reece and Alice. Three pairs of hands are better than two. And they have already seen my face, so no-one else will be in danger". He shoved his hands in his pockets. "Why don't we pull the alarm once everyone else has gone. Then once the buildings empty we can sneak in to look for the list. If we're seen we can pretend Alice (or some other morph) has captured us".
Brit suddenly grinned. "Infact if we are seen you could ask to see the list to compare our names to the ones we had given you".

"See Reece i can have a good idea too". Brit said while grinning.

Reece nods. "Alice, do you think you could pass for one of these weirdos? We don't even know how these people act when they're not putting on a nice face for the neighbors. Well, unless they're capping our asses." Reece pulls the toilet paper out of his pocket. "If that doesn't work, there is always plan B."

"Wrap our heads in toilet paper?"... Brit pretended to contimplate this idear. "Nope i like my plan better. it saves me from looking like a pillock".
He stopped and smiled, "good we're back to our normal argueing streak. I was getting worryed for a second then".

Torrence stepped up beside Kasey. "I think we should go to Jenny's." She told Kasey. "You have enough to worry about right now with your family and every thing and Alice said you should talk to Jenny."

The girl with wet hair of whom no one had requested a name of quietly went and stood behind Kasey and Torrence.
"You guys are sure taking a lot of time. If we're getting the list, lets go. If you're getting to Jenny's, follow - Eddie, right?"
She looked to Eddie for confirmation.
"Ten people could have been infested in the time it takes for you guys to make a decision. I'm heading towards the center. Anyone ready to rock, lets go."

The so far nameless girl with wet, white blond hair began to sneak towards the Center.

Alice's slip-up doesn't go unnoticed. Kasey barely nods at her suggestion to go first, and stands close to Eddy. She listens to the others talk, than interjects hesitantly. "Reece...even if we can get the list, they're going to know that you were there as well. They...well, Sandra knows you were there, and we don't know what they might find out from her. I think you should come to talk to Jenny too, just in case..." She trails off, and stands silently behind Eddie.

Reece paused. He hadn't wanted to admit it, but he had been hoping he could have nabbed Sandra while they were in there. But now that Kasey brought the situation to his attention, he knew it was ridiculous. He forced a tight smile. "Yeah, whew, good thinkin' there, Kasey. Lost my head I guess- stress and all." He clears his throat. "So, I'll go along with Kasey and the rest to Jenny's?"
