Her question was answered along with others, Autumn felt sick, yet also, a strange sense of surreality washed over her. Hoping this wasn't real, but knowing it was, made Autumn wish her actual suicide attempts had worked, then she wouldn't be here. Swallowing quickly and wiping her hands on her jeans, Autumn took deep breathes to keep calm. "I don't know about any of you, but I want in. I want to be morph capable, I don't want to just sit around and wait to be taken." If there was a way to help or keep things from getting too bad, Autumn wanted in. She was not going to be a sitting duck.

Reece looks reluctantly at Kasey. "I hate to admit it, for several reasons, but you've got a good point. If this is real, we can't risk going to one of our houses. Alice, if you escaped looking like someone else, they wouldn't know to check your place, right? Can we trust your folks not to get all Cronenberg on our asses?"

As Reece questioned Alice, a peculiar event was happening.  Any one who had cell phones- even if they had been turned off- noticed that their cell phones were ringing.
There was a very wondrous phone call coming in.

[Sorry my post is so short, I'm posting from my wii, I'll edit this OCC out when I get back onto my real computer tomarrow]

Damien had taken a few steps back away from the group again, seperating himself from the others. However, a few seconds later his phone began to ring from inside his pocket. Thats funny, he could have sworn he turned his cellphone off... ”Uhm.... hello?” he said into the phone cautiously,”...who is this?”
That'sssss a very nice possssst you have there... It'd be a sssshame if something happened to it...

Kasey, still unsure of where her phone was, starts when she hears the others' go off. She stares at Damien, knowing he had turned his off before. She swallows, and asks him with a nervous edge to her voice, "Who...who is it?" She doesn't move from where she's standing, still waiting for Alice to answer her questions.

Damien's phone call

"Hello." A man's voice greets Damien. "This is Alice's father. I was wondering if you knew where she is?"

Eddie and Alice

Eddie:

When the unknown girl assured everyone she was ok, Alice sidled up to my wheelchair and took one of my hands in hers;

"I know your name, Eddie, because I kind-of like you." She told me in a near-silent whisper.

I still hadn't recovered from the discovery that she had BEEN the older woman from earlier. In fact, it was only when my mobile phone began to ring, that I snapped out of my strange funk.

Alice:

As I whispered to Eddie, I heard a conversation strike up between Reece and Brit about whether all this was actually happening in their heads. I decided not to interrupt them. I did nod a polite response to Brit introducing himself to me though.

Damien started trying to get everyone to switch off their phones so the GPS chips couldn't be tracked by the Yeerks. - That was a good ides, but I let everyone make up their own minds if they wanted to do that or not. As for mine, well I'd disabled its GPS chip ages ago.

I'd already spoken on the issue of Sandra, so when Reece brought that back up I decided not to respond myself.

Damien tried to break up the argument between Reece and Brit with some good, logical reasoning. - Good for him.

I nod confirmation to Kasey as she talks about the Yeerks - She's grasped the concept well, but I was starting to worry about how she was coping with that...

When she mentions the sign-in sheet, I raise one of my eyebrows in thought: Yes, that piece of paper could prove troublesome... Perhaps I'd need to retrieve it before we could leave here... Of course, I hadn't signed it myself, so at least the Chee should be safe from being tracked down from that list.

Brit was interested in the girl's ear, which was perfectly understandable. As was her reaction to this, considering the ordeal she'd gone through.

As Damien talked through the stuff I'd been saying about Yeerks, I nodded at each relevant point to show him he'd understood correctly.

I shrugged in response to wet-hair girl's question of when I had said things I had not said, but again said nothing myself. They would work it out for themselves, I didn't want to overly-influence what they wanted to do. I would correct any wrong assumption I heard though.

I smiled gratefully at Autumn when she decided she wanted in on the whole morphing-technology thing. So that was one person in the group already convinced then; Two if Brit was included from what he'd said earlier. Now to see how many more would join in...

Reece asked me directly if my parents would let this ramshackle group invade our family-home. I nervously thought how the other Chee might react to this idea - It might constitute a security risk, after all... I had no immediate answer, but tried to make it look like I was thinking over my answer.

Just then, the cell-phones all started ringing. I knew exactly who was calling, of course, because the Chee had already tried to contact me directly over Chee-net and I hadn't responded yet because I was explaining everything to this group of people I hardly knew. I sighed as I lifted my cell and answered the call.

"Hi Jenny." I said, making up a name on the spot. Establishing a direct Chee-net connection simulataneously, I quickly related everything that had happened to us inside the building and after we'd broken out of it. I also tried to assure them our secret identity was still intact and that to do this I was pretending to have Andalite morphing ability. Hopefully they would play-along...

"Your call is pretty-good timing, actually... Me and my new friends were wondering if we could perhaps borrow the Blue-Box?? - I'll put you on speakerphone so you can talk directly with them if you like?" I offered via the phonecall. My simultaneous, private, Chee-net communication channel was still open so they could make any private comments or questions without being overheard by the Humans. Over this channel I added to my vocal request: {Someone please pretend to be a girl about my age with the name of Jenny? I made up the name to protect established Chee identities - She will represent the 'friend' who has been trusted with the secure whereabouts of the Escafil device, if you decide to play-along.}

All this being said; As I pressed the loudspeaker button on my cell, I called out to Damien:

"If that's my dad on the phone, tell him I'm safe and I'll be home for dinner. Oh and tell him to get off my computer? He knows he's not allowed near computers since.... Well, without going into too much detail, suffice to say he got into a bit of trouble for hacking, a while back..." I lied, easily. I figured that way if our new little group ever needed a computer-genius, my 'father' would be high on the list. "Oh, and before you hang up, see if he knows how to disable Cell-GPS chips remotely. If so, he can disable ours for us and we won't have to worry about keeping them switched off." I added as an afterthought.

Kasey shakes her head, turning her attention fully back to Alice. She approaches Allice, her jaw set in concentration. "We need to get that sheet. We need to get it now." She hesitates a moment, then asks, "How do we do it?"

Chee -net speak
"For the purposes  of cover, I can pretend to be this Jenny.  I'll get the other off of the phone to  your companion- he was getting worried. He's stationed across the street from the Sharing and saw the goings on, but when you didn't report in...

Her superior was quiet a moment, letting Alice reflect on how she'd worried her superiors.

When she spoke again, it was over the speaker phone so that every one present could hear her words.
Good evening, I am Jenny. I understand that you wish to Borrow the Blue Box and acquire the Gift.
However, we have been protecting this Box and its very existence carefully. Are you certain you have the mental and moral strength to accept the consequences of the Box's Gift?"

Reece nods, then realizes that the phone cannot see him. "I'm a powerhouse of strength. I've got the heart of Muhammed Ali over here. Just let me help my girl and I'll have all the mental and moral whatsit you need. Seriously, yeah?"

Kasey reaches over, and leans against a tree to steady herself. Her voice wavers as she questions, "This is it, isn't it. This is how we get the list. This is how we help our families and keep ourselves safe, isn't it?" she intakes a sharp breath, then responds, in a steady, confident voice, standing up straighter, "I'm in. I'll do it. Whatever it takes. I'll take the gift, I'll do the morphing." She glances at Reece, grateful she's not the only one willing to do this, even if he might be the only other.

“When I came to this country I promised myself I would become a healer not a fighter. Back home their was an accident in the ring and well…”. Brit ran his hands through his hair. Realising now was probably not the best time to revile his whole life story.

“But this is bigger than all of us. and in my opinion our chances of success are minimal at best. But I’m in, until I’m killed or you can find somebody better”.

Eddie:

I completely ignored my ringing mobile-phone as I absorbed what Alice told me. A smile grew broad on my deeply-blushing face, and I placed my free hand on top of the one she'd touched me with, as she answered her own ringing phone with her free hand.

Our eyes met briefly and I could almost swear I saw her starting to blush back at me, before she went into 'business mode' while talking on the phone. I took this as a hint that she didn't want too much attention being drawn to me and her becoming anything other than friends, and so I attempted to follow her lead and get back to the major issue at hand.

I'd seen the trepidation flash across Alice's face at Reece's suggestion we all go over to her place, and I looked for an opportunity to suggest my own pad as an alternative...

I'd never heard of this 'Jenny' person Alice was talking to over the phone, but when she mentioned that we'd like to borrow something she referred to as the 'Blue-Box', I guessed this was describing the device by which we might receive these morphing powers ourselves, and I realized this person was probably the one who knew where it was hidden.

When she talked to Damien about her dad, I instantly started liking him - Another tech-head, eh? Well, at least I'd get on ok with her dad then, even if not her mum.

When Jenny introduced herself over speakerphone and basically asked us to prove to her that we were worthy of the Blue-Box's gift, I saw my chance to help disuade the group from wanting to go to Alice's house. I waited for a few other people to reply first, then it was my turn:

"Hi Jenny, I'm Eddie Stobart. Although I'm in a wheelchair, I have my own car and my own studio-sized appartment I'll happily make available for this group's activities - Provided they don't trash them, of course!" I added for a bit of humour to break up the sombre undertones of what this group was planning to do. "My closest family is my older-brother George, but he lives in Virginia with his french girlfriend Nicole Collard and we haven't seen each other for almost a year now. Furthermore, I never even went into the Jerk-controlled building, so there should be no way for them to trace me. I'm good with computers and anything mechanical, but I do suffer from Claustrophobia and Haemophobia slightly, so I don't know how well I'd do in a battle-situation. I hope you'll consider me worthy of this gift." I finished and lapsed into silence once more.

"Do we know if there were any security cameras in that parking lot?" Reece asks. "If so, they might have gotten the license plate of your car, or of Alice's scooter."

Damien took a moment to recover himself. He heard Alice's father asking where his daughter was. What he wanted to say was, how did you get my number, and how did you call it while it was off... however all he said was what Alice told him to say,"Uh... A-Alice said to tell you that she is safe and... be home for dinner... she also wants oyu to get off her computer... and wonders if  you can disable GPS chips remotely,"he said stumbling over his words a few times... his first two question will have to wait until later... or one of them could be answered now,"Couldn't you just call her cell... how did you get mine?" he never gave his cell phone number to anyone but his parents... so.... He looked over towards Alice holding the phone. "If it is the only way we can fight these... yeerks... then We don't really have a choice in the matter..."
That'sssss a very nice possssst you have there... It'd be a sssshame if something happened to it...
