William laughs faintly. "Humans can be monstrous, yes, but they aren't the only monsters. And some monstrous acts are well justified." He gives a sharp smile, then helps himself to a seat next to Verdana.
Dalik's eyes narrow. "I wasn't even born on the Homeworld," she says. "To return to our pools, to hand over our hosts, would be asking me to live out my life in a cage. To sacrifice everything I've ever known or been capable of. Yes, I can control Cameron, and yes my species as a whole can control many others. But the Empire is foolish if they think force will be effective indefinitely." She taps her chest. "Cameron allows me here, of her own volition, and in return I keep her alive through this foolish war. And, perhaps, provide some semblance of decent company."
