Larry listens to Jocun as he tucks the claw away. "Amazing. Does this place always attract strange beings that just appear out of nowhere?" Grun nuzzles Larry and Larry notices that the small bowl is empty so he signals the bartender and asks "May I have some berries for my friend here?" The bartender reaches under the bar and brings out a small satchel full of berries that he hands to Laryy. Larry opens it and empties it into the bowl and listens to Jocun as he watches Grun feast upon the berries.

"It looks like it. You could probably find someone who has been here longer that can tell you stranger stories than I can." Jocun said as he payed the bartender once more. "Even though you could get yourself drunk here, you probably shouldn't let your guard down too much. I've already witnessed one shootout happen, and there was even a guy who used telekinesis. Luckily no one was really hurt. It's an interesting, but dangerous place, Larry. It's good to have friends to watch your back, though."

Ry'tn had been waiting outside the bar door for a long time. He was mainly scared of being known there. With Durlans being one of the most hated races in the galaxy he had voyaged away from any place where the word "Durla" would even sound familiar.

He gathered all of his courage and walked into the bar in the shape of a human in a  grey casual suit and sat down next to a man with a bowl of berries, "Give me whatever vodka you have." He told the bartender. The bartender smiled and handed him a small glass with his order in it. If Ry'tn feels comfortable enough he would stop running and stay here.

"Now here's a guy that came in without any bleeding wounds." Jocun said while the bartender got the man some vodka. He wrote on a piece of paper "Cash or tab?" after serving the drink.

"Name's Jocun. This guy is Larry, and his raven is Grun. Welcome to the bar."

Larry glanced over and nodded at the newcomer while saying. "Greetings traveler" Larry then turned back to watch Grun give the newcomer an assesing look then go back to eating his berries. Larry reached inside his vest and pulled out what looked like some kind of dried meat, like beef jerky and began to eat as well.

A man in his twenties named Ike was a religious person from the southern US, wearing  a plaid shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap. He had gone in a spaceship to find a new planet, since his people had become too numerous for Earth. In their travels, he and others came across a being called The One, and once enveloped he came to believe that they had finally found God. For so long they had wanted to find proof of His existence, and he was overjoyed at being one of the first to witness it.

Now driven to spread the word of The One, he has traveled to a strange place called the GESB. It was odd, but nice, to see a bar where he could get a good drink. He walked through the door, and took a seat near the bartender. To help people believe that God existed, Ike was given the power to perform some small miracles, more on the level of Jesus' ability to turn water to wine than His ability to raise the dead. One such miracle was that he could produce exact change for anything he felt like buying.

He ordered scotch, paid the bartender, and looked around the room while holding a strange medallion in his hand. It showed a healthy tree, surrounded by a wasteland. Followers of The One interpret it as the tree being an oasis in a land of death, though an alternate interpretation was that the tree had sucked the life out of everything around it. Surely he could convince someone to accept salvation here.

It had been a long time since he had come.

Mar knew it from the weight in his heart, pumping blood through his veins, and the paths well-worn by travelers through the grass. He was walking through the asteroid's forest, the asteroid that housed one of the multiverse's lesser marvels: The Galaxy's Edge Space Bar. Moments ago he had held power and influence over whole worlds, and he doubted that even that ancient fool knew what the Bar truly was. He doubted he would have called himself a fool, either. Mar grinned at the pleasure of living and began to run ahead towards the wooden building he knew was there.

Running tired him out quickly----he had never had to work at being fast before. Mar breathed in and out, deeply, his hands on his knees. The air on the old place was as cold as ever. He looked up at the building, attempting to sort through jumbled memories. Yes. He had met the paladin Andalite here, Ossanlin. His...friend. He had met a woman here, too---beloved and his, yet not the soul he had followed these many years. He missed it, all of it---it had been a break from the endless war, a break from the limits of being a Highest. Perhaps freedom from himself, what he needed most of all.

Mar pushed open the door to the Bar and glanced about his surroundings, noting that a young man he'd never seen before was already there. He looked kind, young, plain---Mar's opposite in every single way. Mar reached into his pocket and pulled out ordinary pounds, an indication of where he'd just been. The bartender accepted his money and Mar sat down. He didn't mention a drink, but he had the uncanny notion that the bartender knew what he wanted in any case.

"A newcomer, I see," states Mar offhandedly.

"Yes. I would never have expected to find a bar like this, so far from home." Ike said in a southern drall. "Ike Williams." He introduced himself and held out a hand to shake the other person's. "Though to tell you the truth, it hasn't been long since we didn't know aliens existed."

Mar shakes the man's hand as firmly as he can muster, and rather dutifully. He doesn't have the slightest idea who this man is, and he is none of the people that he entered the place to meet.

"I'm called Mar here," states Mar, smiling a bit. It wasn't an incredibly cheery smile, but for once in his life the man had no desire to hide behind a false countenance. "There are people here for whom it has been far longer. This Bar has a way of playing with time and space----do keep that in mind with the arrivals. We're not all as we appear, but..."

Mar thinks on his next statement, but then responds. It was likely a good generalization. "...travelers come here either to relax or to run away. Most of the time, both. The Bar is closest to a time and place wracked by war."

"Honestly I could use a bit of relaxation too. Too many days spent on the ship, surrounded by beeping computers and all that crap. Though when I find a spot with enough people, I try to spread the word of God a bit. I'm a religious man, you see. Not really a preacher or anything, but I met God, and he moved me to spread the Word and bring people to Him. Not eeryone knows about Him on other planets, so I try to fix that."

He looked at Mar to see if the guy was interested, but also looked at the bartender. Unfortunately the bartender made no reaction, and continued wiping a glass with a dirty rag.

Mar didn't know how to react. It wasn't the weirdest thing anyone had ever said to him regarding gods, but in context it was hilarious. An evangelist, walking around in a Bar whose main clientele were jaded alien rebels? Mar chuckled a bit. "I don't believe you've found the right place for this sort of thing, or the right person," said Mar with a bit of mirth in his voice. "Most people in this Bar have little use for religion, of any sort. While I find it has its place and uses, I have no desire to convert to any."

"What's your story?" said Mar, laying back in his chair. "Misery? Mental collapse? Hallucination? How did you meet your God?"

"Jesus walked among sinners as well as saints. I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to convert people who are decidedly against the idea, and I'm not one to force my beliefs on others. I just bring it up to people and see if they're interested."

"Earth's population was getting so large, we just had to find a new planet. When a probe found one that we could go to, my family was one of the groups that went to it. On the way, the ship I was in hit some sort of inescapable anomaly. It engulfed us, and after the shock I realized it was The One True God. He brought us up to heaven, and it was everything we expected paradise to be. People worshiping God as He provided each of our needs, as long as we continued worshiping Him. Eventually he sent some of us out of heaven to spread the word across the galaxy. To bring people to him, and save them from eternal punishment."

"I don't think anyone really mentioned hell while there, but being in His presence was bliss, and being without him brings pain. I'll do whatever it takes to get home again, and hopefully bring new friends with me. He even taught me a few small miracles to help convince people I'm telling the Truth."

The door to the bar swings open. In the doorway stands a woman, perhaps thirty years of age. Her figure belies here excellent fitness, and her form-fitting jumpsuit looks Yeerk in design. The jumpsuit's color, however, is almost entirely black, trimmed in crimson- not the color of any Visser in the Empire. She wears a Dracon Beam at her hip, and a tiny, transparent display screen is held in front of her left eye by what looks like a half-pair of glasses. At the moment, the screen is blank.

In spite of regulations, the woman refuses to wear her hair down, its thick blonde curls cascading down past her shoulders. Her uniform is dirty, her hair is filled with dirt and leaves and burrs, and her stance is one of readiness, but she has not yet drawn her Dracon.

There are fewer locals around than there were last time. That can only be a good thing. She leans back, holding onto the doorframe, to take one last disbelieving look at the outside of the building, and then moves over to sit at one of the bar stools.

"Hey, handsome," she says to the bartender, trying and failing to keep her host's southern drawl in check. "How about a martini?"

<<It's the same place, all right>> she says wonderingly. <<We ended up at the same place again.>>

The bartender sets down something that resembles a martini on the bar next to her and takes a notebook from his pocket, which he opens to a well-worn page. He holds it out for her to read. When she looks, she sees CASH OR TAB written in a neat scrawl on the page.

"Start a tab for me, would you?" she says, her eyes roving down the bartender's form. Nothing she liked more in a man than the sense to stay quiet on occasion.

<<You have to talk to me eventually,>> she says to her host.

The only response, as usual, is <<**** off and die, Yeerk>>

Ike noticed the woman come in, looking rather dirty but in some sort of uniform. She had a gun that looked familiar. It might be a Yeerk dracon, though he hadn't seen many Human controllers. Yeerks were one of the species his people had encountered after flying off into space, but they hadn't gotten into open war yet. Not that Yeerks needed open war to get their little slug bodies into your head. He wondered about Mar's comments about time and space. Who knew what was going on, but he'd try to keep his cards close to his chest.

He did have a concealed weapon. A large pistol that could fire lasers or shells. Some of these alien races were advanced enough that their armor was more protective against beam weapons, and a high caliber bullet could punch a hole through it easier. Being a man of peace, but practicality, he made sure to carry a weapon but not flash it in front of people.

He gave her a slight smile if she looked his way, but continued his attention on his current conversation.

"So, a Christian then," said Mar dryly. "A Christian in a universe filled with aliens and monsters. My how you keep to the faith. People of your religion have never gotten along very well with me, but I suppose in this tiny dive anything is possible."

Mar frowned at Ike's description, however.  From his perspective it was obvious that the man was not describing what he thought he was describing. Yet his perspective, in the universe nearest the Bar, might be wrong. For all he knew the distortion Ike encountered really was God. "Miracles, on the other hand, are so often deceitful. Are you certain that what you saw was m---the Father? I have no doubt that what you saw was a Highest, but it is known that one cannot reach Heaven from the Earthly universe."

The bartender slides Mar's drink down toward him without so much as a word. Mar catches the wine glass as it passes and drinks. White wine, not his usual preference. But of an excellent vintage. Mar turns toward the door and watches as the young blonde woman enters the room. Mar winces in disgust---she's unkempt and wearing a dirty Imperial uniform. Repulsive Yeerk. Caring for your badge of office is very important.
