'Alright, to start, we're going to need to remove the outer casing of the cannon. If you look closely, there's all these arrow-like markings all over the casing? They point to the bolts holding it all in place. Once they are removed, the casing comes apart in sections, first allowing access to the crystal then to the other components inside.'

Simon grabbed two screwdrivers, and handed Austin one before getting to work. He unscrewed a section, putting the screws into a bowl, and placing the section to the side. The crystal inside looked better than the ones that were involved in the explosion. It was an interesting piece of technology, and he could imagine Salem would want to see it if he found out about it. Not that either of them were obligated to tell him anything.

Terenia's eyebrows raise. "Efaen is not the type of person anyone should become enamored with," Esreth comments, a little snidely. "Not that I ever met the twisted thing personally, but her actions certainly reverberated through the entire base. Not to mention I have Terenia's memories of her. An altogether nasty creature, and even if the rumors of her being somewhat more amiable these days are true, I wouldn't get near her."

She gives Gene a small, sympathetic smile, then turns back to the previous issue. "Ossanlin, yes, Terenia's life is better now than it was. Anything would be better than the cell she had resigned herself to. But you still forced her hand. And she still has had to cope with the death of her sister. While I do not doubt your intentions were noble, the end result was still quite a bit of pain."

<<All Andalites have noble intentions,>> Terenia mutters with a huff.

<<I'm aware,>> Esreth responds. <<Though I must admit I've never met one prior to today, and Ossanlin isn't exactly your typical Andalite, from what I have heard.>>

Gene touches Terenia's arm.

"Should I...should I go?" he whispers, eyes wide as he looks between her and Ossanlin. "This is a pretty uh, personal conversation."

"No, you're fine, Gene," Esreth says. "I'm sorry. Let's talk about more pleasant things, shall we?"

She gives Ossanlin a hopeful smile as she takes up the glass of redin and sips it, making a slight face as she swallows.

There is a loud clanking sound from outside, followed by the high-pitched squeal of poorly-maintained landing gear. Crimson light briefly illuminates the bar from outside, then fades away slowly.

A few minutes later the door to the bar is thrown wide open to admit the bar's newest occupant.

He is a tall, thin man, with strongly European features and tan skin. His dark hair is eloquently gelled upward into an array of spikes that each end in an electric blue color. His attire is in total contrast to the sawdust filled grunge of the bar; he is wearing a carefully tailored black pinstripe suit with a teal dress shirt and hot pink tie. There is a dark smudge of eyeliner beneath each of his dark blue eyes and a light sheen of gloss on his lips.

"Well," he says exuberantly, his voice raised to a volume that carries easily. He speaks English, but with a definite Slovak accent. "I can see that they have not tidied up at all since my last visit. Koja sramota. Ah well, it can't be helped I suppose. Bartender?" He strides over to the bar and runs a hand along the counter, clearing it of as much grime as possible before he sets his arms upon it. "I will have a Rajika with cherries, please. And quickly, it has been far too long since I have had a strong drink."

"Yeah," Gene says with a shy smile, shoving one hand in his jeans pocket and clinging to his beer. "I am sorry about your sister, Terenia."

His melancholy expression undergoes a complete turnaround when he spots the well-dressed new arrival.

"Hey!" he calls, grinning from ear to ear. He gestures with his beer. "That was fast!"

Esreth lets Terenia answer. She shrugs, looking down at her glass. "Everyone's lost people," she says quietly, glumly. "It's a war, right?" She glances back up at Gene with a small smile, but his attention has been diverted so instead she finishes her glass.

The man looks up from the entirely unimpressed bartender at the sound of Gene's voice. He grins brightly, teeth gleaming. "Gene, fancy seeing you here!" he says loudly, winking. The bartender brings him his drink, and he takes the small glass of potent liquor and rounds the counter to where Gene and the small group are.

"A most advantageous shift in Z-space, my friend," he says to Gene by way of explanation, leaning over and giving him a quick kiss on top of his curls. "Ah, Terenia!" He immediately dives in and also kisses Terenia, one peck to each cheek. She pushes away, a scowl coming over her expression.

"And that's my cue to leave," she says sourly, standing.

The man pays her no mind, chuckling and looking to Ossanlin and Parker.

"Ah, I am afraid we have not met. My name is Dominic Ticak, though you may call me Dom." He gives a small little bow, still grinning. "Pleased to make all of your acquaintances. As pleased, I am sure, as you are to make mine."

"You're exceptionally cheerful tonight," Gene says with a wary smile, giving Dom's hand a squeeze. "I'm glad you're here, things were getting really morose in this corner of the room."

He lets him go and turns to Terenia. "Aw, come on, you can't seriously let him scare you off that quickly. Dom, you know you can't just run up and kiss Terenia, it's too...I dunno, European." He smirks, glancing down at Dom's drink. "Is that a Shirley Temple?" He snorts derisively. "What are you, like, five years old?"

~Ossanlin~

<There was no way I could allow Terenia to take a morph-capable host back into Imperial hands, Esreth...I don't understand how you cannot see how unacceptable...how foolish that is on the face of it.  Terenia claimed she would be killed if she went back without Efaen.  You don't think my hand wasn't forced at least a tad?>  He pauses and shakes his head.  <Efaen was a particularly severe victim of her own government.  Yes, she was weak-minded enough to believe everything she was told on the face, but ultimately she cannot be held entirely responsible for her own actions.  And Terenia was, at the time, a fairly kindred mind in the twisted department.  I'm glad you have healed some, Terenia...I'm sure Corliss has played none too small a part in that.>

During the conversation Ossanlin notes the changes in light quality and the loud sounds outside.  Shortly after he finishes speaking, his stalk eyes note the figure of what appears to be a human male walking into the bar.  He seems to possess a strange way, not to mention some sort of accent.  As the newcomer addresses him, Ossanlin glances at him with his main eyes.  <Greetings...Dom.>

<<Do not take control,>> Terenia snaps, sensing Esreth's inclination to do so and avoid unpleasantness.

"Ossanlin," Terenia says, her cheeks flushing angrily. She ignores Gene's comment about Dom altogether. "All of our hands were forced. I have never doubted that your honor-bound Andalite sentiments made you feel compelled to 'help' me, to 'help' Efaen, and to 'help' my sister. I'm sorry that my appearance here put you in such a miserable position, but at the end of it all, no matter who was forced into what, I am still the one who lost someone, so I would appreciate it if everyone just shut the hell up about the situation and moved on with their damn lives like I'm trying to do."

With eyes narrowed angrily, Terenia stomps away from the group. She doesn't go far, finding an empty booth in the shadows and flumping into the seat with a sullen expression.

Dom watches Terenia go with an expression of sympathy. "Poor girl," he murmurs. "If anyone needed a good party, it is her." His expression brightens again as it shifts back to Gene. "And why wouldn't I be in an exceptionally good mood, my friend? I am here, I am with you. There are new people to meet. And I can have a proper drink." He smirks widely. "Would you like to try some of my Shirley Temple?" he asks Gene, offering him the glass. He winks at Ossanlin, as if the Andalite is in on some joke.

Gene frowns at Terenia's irritable exit.

"Uh," he says distractedly, tearing his gaze away from her and towards Dom. "Let me guess, that's not grenadine and Sprite." He gives Dom a knowing grin and touches the man's upper arm lightly before excusing himself from the group, as well.

He trudges over to Terenia.

"You know," he says conversationally, wincing in case Terenia decides to yell, "this is my antisocial corner. I don't think you can have it." He smiles hesitantly.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin nods, content to drop the subject, not that he has much choice in the matter with Terenia already walking away.  He glances again at "Dom", not allowing his inexplicable discomfort with the human to show on his face.  At least she hadn't exploded...that showed considerable improvement.

Salem glanced down when Rathien's boot made its way onto the bench. He could feel himself hardening... it seemed that Rathien's energy needed to be channeled somewhere. When it wasn't hunting or taunting, did it always default to the provocative?

He smirked at Rathien, "A little of both, probably. Don't you have hunting to be doing or something?" He turned and boredly clicked his persona scanner in the direction of the man who'd entered the bar.

Al, on the other hand, turned an raised an eyebrow when the man with the spiked hair entered. Something about his manner caught the android's eye.

"Hello, what's this?" He looked from Rathien to Salem and sighed. "Excuse me, gentlemen. As thrilling as this is, I think I'll take my leave for now." He stood and walked to the bartender, to whom he muttered something. He then took a seat at the bar, and reached down underneath his stool, from where he pulled a fedora with a red feather, which he donned at an angle.

A few moments later, the bartender set a drink in front of Dom. It would look and taste like a light ale, but the bubbles within glowed like tiny fireflies, popping in a small sparkle when they reached the surface.

Salem watched, somewhat dejectedly, as Al walked away, then rolled his eyes and turned back to Rathien. "Sidekicks..."

~Rathien~

Rathien spares only a glance at Al as he moves away.  "You know what I think of your sidekick already."  He continues to massage with his soft-booted foot with just a very small amount of pressure.  "But hey, you almost got him to kill me once...that's something."  His grin grows wider as his boot-clad foot perceives the firming sensation from Tobias.  "So...you weren't just bluffing when you said you were interested.  One can never be sure with you, Tobias."

Rathien's eyes take on a deeper, almost fiery light, but he controls his breathing carefully.  He can feel his own body once again responding to the contact with Tobias, even though he himself had initiated and was maintaining the contact.  Just the feeling of Tobias's response is enough to remind him just how long it's been for him as well.  He briefly considers moving around the table to sit next to Salem just to get a handful of what his foot is only partially able to perceive, but he suppresses his desire, digging the claws of his right hand into the wood of the table, settling for a tad more pressure with his foot.  "Hmm...mmm...you seem to have clipped my wings, Tobias...leashed me.  How can I hunt when I am constrained so?  I suppose you could release me.  But you won't do that will you?  So perhaps I can work on releasing you first."  He smirks again, running his foot around to feel the contours of his desire once more before regretfully removing it from the tantalizing contact, planting it safely on the floor under the booth.  His own undergarment was beginning to become a tad bit uncomfortable, and even in a place like this, there was some need for decorum.

"If you refuse to let me go, Tobias...you're partially responsible for my needs."  He shrugs, controlling his breathing and baser urges with sheer will.  He's actually slavering in his mouth with the deep, nearly-uncontrollable carnal desire...when was the last time that had even happened?  He suppresses another strong urge to slip around to the other side of the booth.  This was dangerous...it had been far too long, and Tobias was too attractive a target for his amorous attentions.  There is a danger of losing control of the situation, but for whatever reason, Rathien simply cannot make himself care.  He wants satisfaction from Salem in the worst way.  He schools his features and leans back in the booth, trying to emanate an air of relaxation and unconcern.

Dom's gaze follows Gene to the booth, but he does not follow, acknowledging that when it comes to the likes of Terenia, his presence is most certainly not welcome. Instead, he turns his attention back to the Andalite, who has yet to mention his name, and the armored man who has, as of yet, been silent.

"Fabulous evening, isn't it?" he comments off-handedly, grinning so that all his teeth show. His expression shifts to curious when the bartender places the strangely luminescent drink in front of him. His dark eyebrows raise. "Što je ovo?" he asks of the bartender, who doesn't even shrug, just turns away and goes back to perpetually drying his glass.

Shrugging himself, Dom lifts the glass and sniffs it before taking a small sip. "Ah--delightful!" he says cheerfully, looking up and down the bar for the bearer of the gift.

Terenia looks up at Gene glumly. "I hate this place," she says flatly, kicking at the leg of the table. "Don't know why I bother coming here."
