<You still believe it was my desire to control your life...I don't suppose you'll ever understand that it was my intent to repair at least a small portion of what my species had destroyed in that life.  There were some outcomes that appeared to be quite negative.  However I would ask do you find where you are now to be more tolerable, perhaps even more pleasant, than where you were then?  And would you be where you are now if I had not taken the actions I took?>  Ossanlin's tone is less bland and more conversational now, not implying anything, merely asking what are intended as thought-provoking questions.

'I just need to get a small power pack from inside the ****pit that I can use' With that, Austin climbed into the ****pit of the small fighter and started pulling apart the flight controls, looking for what he needs, all while still smoking his cigar.

Finding what he needed, he climbed down, and placed the small power pack down on the hover cart. It was rectangular in shape, with some small metal tabs one end, making it look somewhat like a lithium-ion battery, but slightly larger.

'What I'm making is actually a mining tool, but with a slightly larger crystal it'll be a pretty decent weapon. I was the head of the tools development team, so I can make a few different mining tools, along with some explosive charges, similar to the explosive called C4, but a lot more potent. I've dubbed the charge AX-1, but I never got a chance to test it. I've actually got a container of it locked away in my fighter with some timed detonation units.'

"That's interesting. I hope they pay you well. Mining's not the safest career, obviously, and someone of your knowledge would be valuable."

Simon carted the stuff to the ship, and made his way to the workshop. It wasn't a huge room, about twenty by twenty feet, with some space taken by tables and other equipment. The walls were lined with shelved of various tools. "Here's my shop. It's not the most organized thing in the galaxy, but it's well stocked. How shall we begin?"

Uncomfortable with the morbid line of conversation, Gene murmurs, "Esreth, I thought you and Terenia already had plenty of 'new and interesting friends'?" He smiles easily, although he is wringing his hands.

"I didn't realize that you were responsible for righting the wrongs of your people," Terenia shoots back, scowling a little. "I didn't ask for an apology, or any sort of repayment. I'm not stupid enough to blame your entire species for the evil actions of a few. I don't hold you accountable for what they did to me, although that is a very Andalite way of thinking. Considering one trait or action to represent the entire group."

She snorts derisively, about to take another sip of her drink when Gene gives Esreth an opening to step in again. The Yeerk does so gladly, smirking at him. "One can never have too many new and interesting friends," she says cheerfully, though she does glance at Ossanlin a bit warily. "Don't worry, you will always be one of my most interesting of friends." She smirks at Gene.

Ossanlin represses a flash of anger as easily as if the feeling never was, a natural reaction anymore.  <So I see you haven't lost the ability to fixate upon and manipulate one statement whilst conveniently ignoring those which you cannot discuss without admitting something you do not wish to.  Regardless of your scathing and possibly offensive statements, Terenia, my questions still stand.>

Esreth fixes Ossanlin with a mildly intrigued look. "Terenia would possibly be where she is, though perhaps not in the condition. She would have gone to the rebellion regardless. Corliss was the primary driver in that decision. Of course, without you she would not have regained her humanity, and likely would have lost Efaen as a host as well." She grins. "Terenia and I may have become friends much sooner if the two of us were stuck in the main pool together."

<And Tamora, Esreth?  You have access to her memories...Tamora would've anchored her to Visser three more securely than anything else in the multiverse, just as she did before those events transpired.  The Empire would've retained a morph-capable host in Efaen, and Terenia would've remained bound by her own creed.  How could Terenia have joined the Rebellion when her only desire, her only need was to stay under Visser three's tail for her sister's sake?>

'Well,' Austin said, following Simon to the ship 'Our planet was ran by a council of people, and every different head of operations, be it Crystal Mining, Metal Mining, Research, whatever, had a seat on the council. As for the pay, yeah I had it pretty easy back home. It's a bit of a shock that I'll never be able to return though...' he trailed off in thought.

Walking up to the entrance of the workshop, Austin stubbed out his cigar on the sole of his boot, and placed it in the pocket of his jacket to finish it later. Placing the cigar box on a bench, he said 'Well, this'll do perfectly. It's very similar to what I used to have, tool selection wise. Have you got anything that can cut crystals, such as a laser cutter? As for where to start, we'll start with disassembling the laser cannon and sourcing the parts we need.'

"We'll try to get you home. I can't guarantee anything, but we'll explore the possibilities."

Simon grabbed a machine that was attached to the wall. The arm could swing in different directions. He also got some goggles out of a drawer. "Here's our laser cutter. You can do it manually or let it cut automatically." Once the cannon was on the table, he started looking to see what tools he'd need to start disassembling it. "The computer can make a list by voice command if you need."

"Corliss would have convinced her that there was a better course of action," Esreth says firmly, confidently. "The rebellion has had successful rescue missions in the past, and if she could have been a part of one under her own terms I see no reason why she would not have gone with him there."

She shrugs, pushing away the redin. "What happened happened, Andalite. We cannot change it, and it seems that despite the unfortunate side effect of Tamora's death it really has been beneficial for Terenia. But if you are expecting gratitude from her, you will have a long wait."

Salem shook his head. What the hell was in the drink he'd ordered? He appeared to have zoned out.

He looked up. Both Al and Rathien were looking at him expectantly. Rathien had asked something.

"Um... What?" he asked stupidly.

Marie and Abby are my wonderful RAFsisters ^_^

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin rolls his eyes a bit before ordering another drink, this time somewhat more alcoholic.  <I try not to expect gratitude from anyone, Esreth, it is my job and, I believe, the job of all beings to help those in need without any thought for recompense.  And believe me, the last person I expect to receive gratitude from is Terenia.  I thought perhaps I was hallucinating earlier when she all but thanked me for reverting her body.>

The bowl at the bar is replaced with a fresh one...as fresh as things got in this place anyway.  <And I think you over-estimate Corliss' abilities.  Perhaps now, if they had felt this way then...perhaps he could have done.  But they did not feel then as they do now.  Don't you think the first thing I tried to do was talk Terenia out of returning to Visser three?  She was fixated upon returning, and the only way I could see to deviate her without bodily restraint was to liberate Tamora.  It seemed like it would be an elegant arrangement, but anyone in my position knows that even the best-laid plans last only until their inception.  I merely wanted Terenia to ask herself if her life is better now because of what happened...that is all.>

~Rathien~

Rathien raises an eyebrow, smirking.  "Why Tobias...I never thought you'd be one to swoon."  He chuckles to himself and adjusts his position in the booth, bringing his propped-up leg under the table.  "Are you merely delirious from blood-loss or is your bright little mind too busy running through the possibilities of what we could accomplish together...?"  He moves his soft-sole-booted right foot to rest up on the booth bench on the opposite side, nestling it provocatively between Salem's legs.  The soft-leather boot, designed only to protect and not to dampen position sensation, allows the sole of Rathien's foot to bend and flex as naturally as if it were bare, and to feel everything it touches with exquisite detail.

Rathien arches his foot and applies a very small, non-painful amount of pressure, still smirking, and winks at Tobias, his under-table actions concealed from everyone but the trader himself...and perhaps that non-living construct of his.  But Rathien doesn't allow thoughts of the android to sour his expression or his mood, as he continues to smirk and run his tongue across a fang in desire.

Parker chimes in candidly, "And bodily restraint wasn't exactly off the table when she was first going to leave. If I hadn't stopped your stooge, I'm not sure what he would've done to her. That, of course is before he got all goo-goo eyed for her."

<That 'stooge' is my subordinate officer, and the correct term is Warrior.  I would hope that you do not refer to the men under your command as 'stooges' and I would hope that you would take offense if others did.  And he cares little for Terenia, it is Efaen that he is enamored with.>  He doesn't allow his affront to show.  Perhaps the armored human wasn't being purposefully offensive.  At the least, being combative was always a last resort, especially over something such as this.
