Al smiled at Ewa. There was something he was missing here. She still seemed aware of her surroundings... but "identity aphasia" wasn't exactly a common term. The way she spoke it, though, made it sound like it might be almost expected.

"Not disruptive, unless you count the fact that you've got me worried about you," he said, pushing the door open. "Take a few minutes, have a drink, and we'll have you back on your feet in no time." He motioned the bartender over and ordered a glass of water to be sent to the table for Ewa.

She'd said she'd have been 'removed?' What would she be removed from? Something he was missing. If she was Paladinian... she may be with a Guild or an independent Paladinian movement... but there was no way to tell, and that assumption wasn't going to get him anywhere anyway. There were a number of professions he could think of wherein 'identity aphasia' would be a relatively common term- in recent decades, Paladinians had begun assuming identities other than their own with increasing frequency. He'd seen it done for their 'scapes'- a budding form of entertainment designed to appeal to the most affluent of clients- on a few occasions, and was at least familiar with the concept.

So... was she undercover? Did that make any sense, this far away from anything remotely Paladinian? Regardless of whether she was 'independent' or sanctioned, it probably made the most sense that she was an undercover 'scouter' sent to gain information on new areas or materials. It was considered dangerous work, but Al thought it sounded somewhat romantic and exciting. Then again, there was always the chance that she was actually working for the Alphoid government directly... but wouldn't they have masked her DNA signature as well? Or... did they do that? It wasn't Al's area of expertise, and he was far from sure.

So... more likely a Scouter. It was a long shot, but if he could get her to talk about where she was from, she might be willing to give more information as well.

"Ewa," he said, lowering his voice and putting on a gentle smile as he led her towards the booth in which Salem was sitting, "I need some information, in case this happens again, and we can have you safely removed. Have to know who to contact." He wasn't entirely comfortable with trying to trick her like this, but as he saw it, this was the best way to keep her at her ease while potentially unraveling some of the mystery surrounding her.

Parker observed Al and a woman's entrance. He hadn't met her before. He'd certainly seen her; but never had he been introduced. When Al set them down at Salem's table, he took the chance and left Chris at the bar. He excused himself and said, "I'll catch ya later."

He approached the table and stood "at ease"; a formal stance, but comfortable enough to not unnerve others. He said to Al, "Al, it's been a small while. Who's your friend? I noticed her before; but was preoccupied to inquire." He looked to the woman as he explained to Al (and her by proxy) why he hadn't asked before. He was clearly inviting the woman to answer the question; showing her he wasn't ignoring her or treating her as though she wasn't there.

Ewa frowned as she sat down next to Salem.  "How could you not know who to contact?" she asked Al in clear confusion.  I wouldn't be consulting without an invitation, but even if I was.... ? .... Even if I was he couldn't NOT know my Family.  Even if they knew almost nothing about human portrayal which they...  She looked around at the bar's eclectic collection of patrons.  They clearly don't.  These thoughts were starting to feel more familiar again.  She glanced over to her left, at Salem, and a small muscle in her cheek twitched.  Who let him get away with that outfit and how did I end up sitting here?  Her eyes darted away quickly, but then she frowned and turned back rather candidly.  "You do realize that you look ridiculous, right?  Did I tell you that already?"

Partway through her questions some sort of armored mechanoid approached the table, pulling her attention away before Salem could respond.  What sort of production could they be prepping for?  Her lips compressed momentarily before her face cleared in a politely neutral expression that seemed appropriate for the level of formality.  With a small flick, her eyes moved to Al as she waited for him to complete the introduction.

Julian noticed the competition wasn't coming to any conclusions, and that was a first for him. He was impressed that his opponent had kept him dodging for so long.

"Well, friend, we've been out here for some time. What do you say we call it a draw and get a drink?"

"You're probably right. This wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be, though I can tell you have some skill. Nice form, at least." Zoshonel said. He went inside and found a seat. He didn't feel thirsty right now, so he just made himself comfortable and watched the crowd.

Julian walked back into the bar and ordered himself a drink. He looked around, trying to get an idea of who was around at the time. Things were pretty quiet at the moment, Morgan had told him some of the crazy things that went on at this bar, but so far..nothing.

"Usually this quiet?" Julian asked Zoshnel.

"It wasn't this quiet last time I was here. It's a lull, which can be good or bad." He said. "This will speed up soon enough, hopefully."

When Ewa sat down, Salem's lips drew tight, and at her comment about Salem's attire, he merely smirked at her. His expression grew into a very fake grin as Parker approached and words were exchanged.

Al smiled at Parker, "Ewa, this is Parker. Parker, Ewa." In truth, he was slightly relieved to have a distraction from attempting to find out about Ewa. That kind of subversion was far more Salem's thing than his own. "You're both welcome to join us if you like." He waved the bartender over to take any orders.

Salem rolled his eyes, leaned forward, and rested his chin in his hands with his elbows on the table, maintaining his aura of false enthusiasm. "Oh, yes, that'd be good. Let's just invite everyone over for a drink." He stared at Parker, his expression turning serious, though it was offset a bit by the fact that he kept his chin propped in his hands. "If you two don't mind, Al and I have something to discuss. In private." Rather than turn his head to look at Ewa, he tilted it sideways and looked at her sidelong. "Shouldn't take more than a few minutes, then I'll buy a round of drinks for the whole damn bar, why not?" He yelled the words "whole damn bar" towards the ceiling loudly enough that everyone in the building should have noticed. He leaned back in his seat and began halfheartedly examining his nails, "If either of you wants to discuss the things we need to discuss, we can do so shortly."

Al smiled apologetically as he slid into the booth on Salem's other side, "I promise he's nice sometimes. Just gotta get to know him better."

Zoshonel had just gotten comfortable when someone shouted and jolted him out of his comfort zone. The one who shouted about the whole bar then settled back down. "That was odd."

Jocun was surprised at Salem's outburst. apparently he was still anxious about something. The attacker, or something else on his mind?

Ewa nodded politely to Parker, but Salem broke in with his petulant little fit before she could actually say something.  Her eyes slid back to him in a moment of disapproval and condescension before dismissing him.

She smirked slightly at Al as she slid back out of the booth.  "You sound more like a self-deluded parent than a wingman."  She glanced around the bar again but didn't see anyone trying to get her attention.  "When you finish babysitting I'd appreciate it if you could point out who I should be consulting with... unless it's you?" she asked turning to Parker.

Julian glanced over at the one who had shouted, he was leaning back against his chair in a casual manner. "Odd indeed. Maybe that's a sign things will be picking up around here. So, mind if I ask where you learned to handle a weapon so well?"

"We have classes on this kind of thing in school. Our planet is relatively hostile, and being able to survive is just as inportant as culture and science. Then of course there are the wars that break out from time to time."

Parker stood firm in his position. He didn't flinch, or even acknowledge Salem's outburst. Instead, he bowed his head to Al slightly and replied solely to him, "I see you're busy, I'll return shortly." He slid his feet together sharply, making a clacking sound to match Salem's previous volume. He then looked past Salem, without allowing a split-second's glance fall upon him, and replied to Ewa, "I'm sorry, I'm in no official position here; however if you would like to busy our waiting time, I would enjoy a civil... conversation."

Parker extended an arm and open hand toward the bar. It was far enough away that most couldn't overhear anything from their booth, allowing Salem some sort of comfort (though he didn't deserve it).

Garreth followed the duelists inside the bar and sat beside the two. He too was surprised by the outburst, but didn't show it. He spoke out, "Odd, carrying such an archaic melee weapon and such an advanced long range weapon. Is the former for sentimental value; or is the latter not originally native to your world?"

"It's much easier to get some gauntlets than a firearm. fir the firearm you need a permit, special training, and a background check. For gauntlets, you can just go to a weapon store and buy it. They're simple, but effective. The rifle is actually a new addition to my weapons. You don't see a whole lot of Draconians carrying them because we can already breathe fire." zoshonel said.

"Where I come from," Julian said, "Sword tournaments have made a come back as a sport. I compete professionally. Most of the weapons are more advanced. I had been traveling between worlds for competitions and ended up here."
