"He loves me," Tamora says fiercely. "He protects me. He keeps me safe." She hugs her arms, feeling cold and alone without him. "I hate this war," she murmurs, staring down at the table, several tears finally spilling over and tracking down her cheeks. "I can't make myself be brave. I'm not my sister." She swallows hard. "Teresa left me because she got sick of protecting me. You don't think..." she shakes her head, talking more to herself now than Myitt. "No, Zorish would never do that. You're right. He needs me. He's never had another human host, and he does love me, I'm sure of it. Even if he won't say as much." Her breathing hitches and she presses her palms to her eyes, trying to stop herself from crying further. "I don't want to be weak," she says, clearly disgusted by herself.

Myitt watches Tamora, unable to make herself reach out to help the human girl, curling her fingers back and hiding them in her lap.

"You're not weak, Tamora," she says quietly. "And you're not alone. I hate this ****ing war, too."

Parker lets his hand fall to his side, but Thor doesn't move from his current position. He now appears to be floating on nothing. Parker comments, "Extremely. This suit enhances my speed and reaction time plenty by interacting with my brain. With Thor, or any other A.I, he makes the communication between suit and brain even faster. With his sensors and constant reports, it's like I can know when someone's going to fire at me the moment the do it. I don't have to wait for a sound to reach my ear, or see a flash. He is constantly reading my environment, others vitals, brainwave patterns, etc. If someone intends me or anyone I care about, hell, even if I just know them and want to keep tabs on them, Thor will bring my attention to it immediately. It's literally like a sixth sense."

Parker nods toward Jocun and Keshin/Joanne, "For example, Myitt threw that drink in his face, and now he's talking to that bounty hunter over there. I'm having Thor monitor their conversation and told him to report to me if Jocun there tries to hire them. He's also monitoring the exhibition going on outside and making sure it stays friendly. If it turns, he'll let me know; whether I do something about it is up in the air though."

"It's awful," Tamora says emphatically. "I just want it to end." She sighs, slumping back into the booth and watching Myitt with cautious gray eyes. "What will happen to...to people like Zorish if your rebellion wins?" she asks.

"That so?" Keslin asks, glancing over at the indicated table. "I pity the turelek who attempts to collect Myitt's bounty. Even if they are successful, they will have two rather loyal brothers to answer for, and a large chunk of the rebellion besides. She is more well-loved than I think she realizes." A small, fond smile reaches his lips. The smile is entirely Chris', but the way a pink flush creeps across his freckled face is all Keslin.

Parker tilts his head slightly, "'Loved', huh?" he looks over to Myitt's table and recalls when she was being playful with another of her table he hadn't met, "Interesting choice of words." He notices Chris's face warming, "Disconcerting to know you have competition, huh?"

"Competition?" At this Chris' face turns an astonishing shade of red, and he diverts his gaze to the floor. "No, there is no...we aren't..."

<<Christ almighty, Keslin, let me,>> Chris remarks. Keslin gladly gives up control, and as soon as Chris is back in the driver seat the flush begins to fade, replaced by a small smirk.

"First off, armor-boy, I've got myself my own girl, and she's a million times less surly than Myitt over there," Chris says brightly, taking a sip of beer. "Yeah, I used to have a thing for her host, but that was almost a decade ago." He shrugs. "Kes here has a little difficulty coming to grips with human emotions sometimes." He rolls his eyes and rotates a single finger around his temple, in the universal sign for 'crazy'. "He still hasn't quite gotten over the fact that he, uh, accidentally had a little recreational fun with them, if you catch my meaning."

He grins, his face almost entirely back to its natural fairness, only his splattering of freckles standing out. "What Kes really doesn't want to admit is how much he li-"

Keslin cuts his host off abruptly, pressing Chris' lips into a thin line to keep the words in. After a moment of internal struggling he gives Parker a small, nervous smile. "Chris' and my partner, Tess, is wonderful. Illim and Myitt are happy together. I would never wish to interfere with their relationship. I am merely protective over those I have known for a long while."

Parker smiled behind his helmet, "'Armor boy', huh?" He nods, "Okay, meat-vehicle. So you're not competing; doesn't mean he's not competition. Whether or not the flame is old, that blush showed it's still aflame. So you got a girl; doesn't mean he's got a girl." He directs the rest of his response to Keslin, who's now back in control, "Human emotions are odd. I thought I was above them until I crashed here. It's hard to let go of the first person to bring those feelings to bear." He looks out of the front window and sees Silver watching the exhibition fight.

Keshin grins wryly at Jocun's statement. Pretty much all the Imperials and most Yeerks he knew were "warmongering self-serving species-ists." It was a side effect of growing up in a culture that fed off and was born in war. He dimly wondered what on Earth Yeerks did in this war-less future: play Pong? Invest in the Yeerk Stock Exchange?

<Go on crappy camping trips and play volleyball?>

<Oh shut it.>

<Y'know, it mighta been a good plan but it was the dorkiest invasion ever.>

Keshin rubs his forehead, rolling his eyes. He then glances back at Jocun. "Yeah, not a good place for a vacation. No one's heard of you, but at least half the Bar is deciding whether or not to kill you. Me, I'm just wondering whether you've made any enemies you need me to kill. And what you plan to do next."
************************************************************************************************************
"That makes you a bit of an outlier for your race, from what I've heard," mutters Mar. He has a tired, sardonic look about him. He wants to trust Ossanlin, in truth. And Ossanlin's dicussion with Myitt is bringing up a couple interesting points. What exactly did the War-Prince see while he was out? .....hmm.

"I'm guessing that Ossanlin saw another place and time," says Mar with a sharp look at Myitt. "Some other him in the vast multiverse. Doing heaven knows what. For the War-Prince to get this confused, the two realities must be very close. I brought him out, but I am certain there are lingering after-effects of what we did."

"As I said before, there is a Gedd controller from my universe that doesn't share my views." Jocun said quietly. "I could order him to leave, but he'd likely just get suspicious. It would be better just to watch him, in case he tries anything. There is also that invisible thing that tried to kill Salem. I'd like to know more about that. No one else has really bothered me. Myitt threw alchohol at me for interrupting her conversation, but of course I'm not going to do a rebel any harm. especially for a minor slight."

"You misunderstand," Keslin says, his eyes darting over to where Myitt is seated. "Chris and myself both love Tess very much. She was with us for nine years of exile, and she has never once hesitated during my moments of...weakness." He looks down at his hands again, before stuffing them in his pocket to hide their trembling. "Myitt is a dear friend, as is her host, Tara. If my physical reaction is indicative of anything it is the inappropriateness of our actions so many years ago. We were not in our right minds, and our judgment was clouded."

<<Sometimes I wish you were not the freckled, pale-faced human that you are,>> Keslin grates to Chris. <<I dislike how clearly your emotions show through. How did you manage to grow up without being mistaken for a tomato at every turn?>>

<<Hey, man, your emotions, not mine,>> Chris protests. <<You're just using my face to display them. Can't help you there.>>

Parker nodded, letting the matter drop. He asks, "So what did you do for so long without the rebellion? The others seem to make it out that if you aren't in either the rebellion or the empire, you're doomed."

Chris takes control again immediately, grinning. "We formed our own rebellion," he says proudly. "The pirate rebellion." He curls his fingers to resemble a hook and swipes at the air with a hearty 'arrr!' before picking his beer back up and contorting his face into some semblance of seriousness.

"There weren't many of us, a couple dozen. We traveled around in ships, tried to stay alive and live off the goodness of the Skrit Na." He snorts derisively at this. "But we managed to cause the Empire a bit of damage, and they ran themselves ragged trying to find us. It's hard to do when you spend all your time in a ship, with no permanent base." He takes a deep swig of beer. "Although, I will say this. If you are prone to cabin fever, do not spend nine years on a ship built for two."

Parker raises an eyebrow behind his helmet and tilts his head toward Chris, "I live inside a suit of armor. I don't think cabin fever would be an issue for me." He leans back and continues, "Impressive though, staying alive that long on your own. So what was it that finally brought you back into the fold?"

Myitt watches Tamora for a long moment, spinning her glass slowly between her hands.

"I don't know," she says quietly, shrugging, as if it were inconsequential.

Salem watched for a moment as Ewa seemed to stop in her tracks. He ****ed his head- something was odd about her. He'd met Paladinians before, and they'd always seemed lucid enough. Granted, he hadn't met many, but this one certainly seemed to have some issues.

His suspicions were confirmed by her seemingly confused response, followed by a series of facial twitches. She'd seemed far more cognizant when he'd briefly spoken to her earlier.

"Not... leaving, no. What gave you that idea?" he asked her.

Salem raised his eyebrows at Al, but the android merely shrugged and said, "Ewa, you feeling okay?"

Salem shook his head. He needed to talk to Ewa, it was true, and gather as much information on her as he could, but for now, he had more pressing matters. He looked around, scanning the treeline for signs of activity- with his tracking system of Rathien disrupted, there was no telling when the hunter might show up, and he didn't want to be caught unprepared.

"Al," he said, before Ewa could respond, "I need to talk to you. Stuff we need to do. We shouldn't be in the open." he jerked his head at Ewa- was she trustworthy to hear this? he seemed to be asking.

Al glanced from Ewa to Salem. He swallowed and nodded, "Sure, let's go talk in the bar."

Salem turned and began heading for the door, but Al held back, concern showing on his face for the confused Paladinian.
