"I guess that doesn't make this the best idea of a vacation spot. Especially without several of my people around to make sure someone doesn't randomly attack me like that invisible person did." Jocun said. "Though I'm not sure I want to run out of a place where the only Imperial these people has ever seen is a warmongering self serving speciesist."

Garreth walked inside the bar. He observed that most patrons were intently watching one booth in particular. It held a combination of Humans, a being looking like a Cathar, and a couple of blue Chironian-esque characters. This place was certainly strange. Garreth remembered the being that resembled the Cathar. He has the dark aura that had brought great discomfort to Garreth. Although the larger of the two Chironians had an amazingly light aura. It was refreshing to "see" his kind with the dark one near by.  Garreth looked out the front window and noticed a couple of people fighting. It looked to be for sport. So he decided to pass through the building to watch the exhibition closer. He stood opposite two ladies who were also watching the clash. He called out, "You two seem to be doing more posturing than actual fighting." It was a tease, to spur action. Hopefully they wouldn't take it too far.

"That's his fault. Not mine. I thought this would be fun, but he's done nothing but prance around like he's afraid of hurting me or something. Look at this hide. It's not just for looks, you know." The Draconian said.

Ewa's brow creased in confusion as Al made what was apparently a farewell-bow. Ohh, you do not get to ditch me that easily you over-acting--leaving?  Leaving leaving?  Then you've known how to get out all along, so you weren't really trapped here, then... oh.  Wait.  But there was.  And you don't shift--impossible.

Her mind scattered in about five different directions in the space of that moment.  A slower, more practical corner was still formulating some sort of innocuous response that would convey confusion, concern, and probably a decent touch of hurt betrayal when Salem strode down to join them.

There was a universal hiccough through her thoughts as Ewa saw the terrible hodge-podge Salem had dressed himself in.  Clearly he had help before.  Really shouldn't be left on his own.  The pieces of her mind were just gearing up to get back to more important thoughts when Salem opened his mouth and completely derailed everything she had been thinking about.

Some people recognize internal panic as a roaring within their ears, but Ewa experienced a profound sense of static--unbearably quiet, overwhelmingly loud, disruptive, deadening.  It crested over her such deceptive stealth that most of her conscious mind was unaware of it.  In that moment, Ewa couldn't even tell for sure that she was panicking--all of her thoughts had disintegrated as though they never were.

Heartbeat seems a bit fast, came one of the thoughts through the static.

They look like they're waiting for something... me?  Oh, they want a response.

If she had any idea what the response was supposed to be for or what sort of response she should give, the knowledge had been swallowed in the roaring quiet in her head.

"That's... umm.  You seem to have lost me partway through that."  Her eyes slid back and forth between the two people in front of her, everything feeling stretched and distant.

Another thought bubbled to the surface while her eyes were on the one without a cape.  "You're leaving just like that, then?  It's that dangerous?  And I..."  Ewa was faintly pleased with the words, painted with emotions, that slipped past her lips, but she had the odd impression that something was off....

Ahh, there were supposed to be facial expressions to go with those, weren't there?

She ran through the set that seemed to correspond with the words.  It probably didn't make much difference if they were only a few seconds late, after all.

Ewa returned to feeling distantly pleased with herself.

"Yeah, that...that's pretty much how it all went, Ossanlin," Myitt sighs. She shakes her head. "You don't remember?"

She glances at Tamora. "Look, kid, you need to have confidence in your own damn ability to make decisions without Zorish around. Okay?" Her tone is insistent, but not harsh. "You're just as smart as he is, I bet you anything."

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin frowns and Mar, his tail swishing idly before he speaks.  <The greater good is subjective, Mar.  I do what I think is right, and I pay the price.  I try to save what can be saved, to help what can be helped, and to do what is good and right by those I meet.  It is not so black and white as you seem to think, Mar...this incarnation would've understood what I was saying had you not destroyed its emotional capabilities.>

He glances back at Myitt again.  <I...do not know what I remember.  I collapsed some time ago, after reverting Terenia.  According to the others, I was unintelligible for quite some time.  During that time, I saw things...like images of myself doing things, experiencing things, that I'd never done or experienced as far as I know.  I do not understand it myself.>

"I'm not," Tamora says, shaking her head. "I can't be. I'm just a human. Yeerks are...they're much more advanced than us." She glances fearfully up at Ossanlin, then back at Myitt. "The...person the Andalite is talking about," she murmurs, lowering her voice slightly, "is my sister, Teresa, right? What does he mean by 'reverting' her?"

Tamora does not address Ossanlin directly, not having anywhere near the courage to do such a thing.

Keslin sighs a little, leaning back against the bar table as he watches the conversation take place across the room. He glances over at Parker. "You said you've been trapped here a year, eh?" he says. "Have you seen many more rebels?"

Parker replied, "A few. The only rebels I've come to know are Myitt, Corliss, and yourself; though they do bring friends along. I travelled here by Slipspace. It seems I'm the only person here who has. Everyone else has come by Z-space or Hyperspace; so no one's been able to get me home. I can only hope someone else from my universe comes here; or anyone travelling by Slipspace. I'm also certain Thor would enjoy having more to do than scan vitals and keep track of conversations for a change. I'm sure this time has been agonizing for him."

"Thor?" Keslin asks, tilting his head to the side. "Who might that be? I thought you came alone."

"Your sister was allowed to return to her human form, after being trapped in morph twice, as both a Yeerk and an Andalite," Myitt explains patiently. She rolls her eyes. "Don't ask me how, it's Ossanlin's pan-dimensional stardust manipulation. I don't understand it."

She sits back, sighing. "Tamora, you'll never find your sense of self-worth if you don't admit that you can make decisions, even good and smart decisions, on your own without Zorish." She gestures to her chest. "Do you think my host sits back here whining all day about how much smarter I am? ****, no. We accept that we're equals, even if we came from different places and have different technologies. We're equals as people."

Parker held out his hand, palm upward. He replied, "I'm sorry, I thought I had mentioned him."

Thor made his usual entrance, a hologram of a man kneeling, face down, appears on Parker's hand. He is wearing ancient Nordic animal skins. He rests his hand on a large headed hammer with a short handle. The man stands to a full height of 7" and rests the hammer against his shoulder. He bows his head to Chris/Keslin and speaks using Parker's helmet speakers, "Greetings, I am Thor. I am an artificial intelligence construct."

Parker rolls his eyes at Thor's entrance and explains, "Thor is the A.I. that was responsible for the ship on which I came here. We have a protocol that states we cannot leave a ship's A.I. onboard if the ship is about to be destroyed or abandoned; so I took him into my suit and jumped onto this planetoid."

"My sister should be dead," Tamora says flatly, her nervous expression briefly shifting into one of anger and betrayal. She does not press the issue, though, having no desire to dwell on her own past. Instead, she inspects Myitt for a moment, absorbing her words.

"I don't whine to Zorish," she says, licking her lips, gaining some semblence of confidence. "I just...know how things are. There's a reason he's the one in control all of the time. There's a reason your people evolved the way they did. You're supposed to be dominant." She shrugs a little, not seeming bothered by the idea.

"You really consider yourself equal to your host?" she asks. "Why, when you are clearly stronger? If she fought for control, you would win."

"Artificial intelligence," Keslin repeats, looking at the hologram with interest. "That must be useful." He gives the little holographic man a wave and a sheepish grin. "Hello, Thor. Pleased to meet you."

"The realities of our biological connection doesn't mean she's any less of a person, Tamora," Myitt says, growing bored with the girl's mealy insistence on her own inferiority. "Weren't you in control of your own body for most of your life? And doesn't Zorish care about you? Just because he can take control when he likes, doesn't mean he has to, and it doesn't mean you don't have the right to your own body and your own damn opinions."

She shakes her head, watching the human with sad incredulity. "They really got to you, didn't they?"

"What do you mean, 'got to me'?" Tamora demands, shifting uncomfortably. "I have always been treated well, within the Empire. I know my place, so I am not demeaned or put in a cage. Zorish is kind to me, and yes, he cares about me. I have my own opinions, but he sees them and knows them and can act upon them if he wants to."

She shakes her head, truly uncomprehending. "Before Zorish, I was nobody. I'm not stupid, I know I'm weak. I know I'm a coward, and alone in this war I would...I would die almost immediately." Unbidden, her eyes water, but the tears do not fall. "When I was a kid, Teresa protected me. Then she abandoned me. Now Zorish protects me, and if I am a good host, maybe he will not run away like she did." She shrugs, her shoulders slumping slightly. "I couldn't handle losing him. I love him."

"Yeah, I know you do," Myitt replies softly. "But people who love you back, they don't want you to feel inferior. Before this war my host wasn't weak or a coward, and I couldn't convince myself that I was the only reason she's survived this long. We're both just as strong, we just have our own ways of showing it, that's all. She might not have spaceships or fancy technology, but she knows how to survive in the woods of Earth far better than I do. I would die without her, in plenty of situations."
