"I am well-acquainted with the experience of being the only one of my kind amongst Yeerks and humans," Efaen says frostily. "It has been a long time since I was surrounded by my own. I think that I will be able to cope sufficiently."

She shifts, uneasy on two legs, as Ossanlin and Corliss prepare for the procedure. She is hopeful that it will be over with quickly so that she can shed the ridiculous human form and return to her own body.

<<Okay, yeah,>> Terenia says privately to Corliss. She uses sonar to pinpoint Mike's hand and scrunch-thrusts her way over. <<Corliss...I-I'm trusting you.>> The concept fills her with terror. She is utterly at the mercy of Ossanlin - an Andalite she does not entirely trust with powers that she does not fully understand - and her only means of protection was Corliss, a Yeerk she barely knew and yet somehow cared deeply for.

<I'm so screwed,> she mutters, barely aware of the fact that she is using open thought-speak as she settles into Mike's palm.

Corliss smiles thinly.  "No you're not," he says, even though Terenia can't hear him.  He gently pulls her out of the pool and places her into the liquid-filled tupperware.  So strange, holding her small form with his human hand for the first time.  He's reminded, not for the first time, of how fragile his people were.

He takes the little tub with both hands and carefully heads back into the main cabin.

"Well, I reckon she's ready whenever you are, Ossanlin," he tells the War-Prince, glancing again at the other cabin occupants.  "Should I just...set her on the floor?"  The thought of leaving her vulnerable makes Mike's stomach twist.

Keshin listens, quickly taking in as much information as he can about Salem's problem. It isn't exactly a shock that this guy has somebody after him, with all the trouble he gets mixed up in. When Salem brings up the picture of the person he's calling Rathien, Keshin scratches his head in confusion. Something about Salem's attacker doesn't look quite normal. Then again, he could be from anywhere.

<Can we take this guy?>

<I don't know yet. Salem says he's hard to track. Still, let's keep an eye out for Rathien. We won't attack him unless we know for sure he can be taken down.>

<Or at least ambushed?>

<That's the idea.>

Keshin smirks, laying back in the Bar stool nonchalantly. He can't look like he's even remotely worried. "Look, I don't know this bloke. But we'll make sure to tell you if we see him anywhere. Or manage to figure out what he wants from you. As for..getting rid of...him, that's a case-by-case basis. We'll see."

It's only somewhat after he speaks to Salem that Keshin spots the other guy talking to him. He can't really blame himself: the poor little guy is pretty inconspicious. "Oh. Uhm? Simon, is it? Yeah, sure sure. Anybody's welcome."
*****************************************************************************************
Mar smirks, forming a response after listening to the inane chatter around this one Imperial. "Why, she's the biggest miscreant in the entire Bar. Nearly everything regrettable that has occurred here is indirectly or directly her fault. I'm just a passive observer. The rebels are involved with her quite a bit. Why I can't imagine."

Mar glances Zorish up and down and states with surprising honesty, "You should not have come. That uniform will win you no favors in this wooden shack. Any person who stands as a kind of authority earns the distrust of the locals. I am lucky enough to be entirely out of my context."

~Ossanlin~

<The bowl needs to be within my arm's reach, I believe physical contact will aid the process.>  He follows Corliss into the room, glancing around.  <Efaen, in here please.  I will need to be touching you as well.>

~Raile~

Raile shakes his head and looks at Garreth again, taking another sip of his Reserve.  "I do not believe they had much of a choice, although if propaganda is to be believed, the delgates cheered the Chancellor's announcement of the formation of the Empire."  He shrugs a bit, unsure as to what could be revealed and what not, before continuing.

"You see, it really began with unsanctioned Trade Federation movements against Naboo.  Chancellor Valorum opposed the movement, but his power had evaporated long before.  He was replaced by Chancellor Palpatine of Naboo.  However, the Trade Federation's dissatisfaction was shared by others and soon a Separatist movement grew, led by former Jedi Master Count Dooku.  Dooku became a Sith..."  Raile pauses and shakes his head in mourning for the fall of the once-great Jedi.  "To counter the threat of the Separatists, the delegates voted Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers.  That was how the Clone Armies came to be.  Palpatine stayed on long past his terms and...I fear he is a Sith Lord.  He said that the Jedi had moved against him...we would not have done this if the Dark Side were not involved.  His holo-images show a twisted face marred by the Dark Side...there can be no mistaking it."

He looks back across the bar and takes a long draw from his tumbler, closing his eyes, savoring the burn of the woody whiskey.

Garreth shakes his head disappointed, yet somewhat impressed, as though he were beaten at a game of chess. He states, "It seems this Sith has learned to play the politics game very well. It is sad to see such a time come to be. However History is full of both light and dark times. Perhaps this dark time just has to come about to bring forth a grand time of peace and light." Garreth ponders aloud, "This is not unlike what the Jedi Masters have been saying about the Mandalorian Wars. Perhaps I have been paying too close attention to what happens in the moment of the battles, rather than understanding what could or may come after."

"Interesting," Zorish says, his eyes flickering over Mar. "Someone who looks as if they walked off of sixteenth century Earth is giving me fashion advice." He smirks a little. "Lucky for me I am hardly looking for favors, in this place. I am looking for answers. And a Yeerk that does not seem to want to show his face."

Efan pushes off from the wall and strides somewhat awkwardly over to Ossanlin. She has absolutely no interest in being touched by anyone, but she hides her distaste behind a stoic mass, coming to a halt next to her Prince and waiting. For the most part she avoids looking at the container that holds Terenia, but when she does glance its way her lip curls automatically in revulsion at the small, sluggish form.

Blind and deaf, limited to hearing only thought-speak now that she is out of the pool, Terenia can only hope that Corliss will keep a close eye on her. She waits for what seems like an interminable amount of time.

Illim smirks in mild amusement at Efaen's obvious distaste towards him, but his smile fades when her revulsion becomes even more apparent at seeing Terenia. He sighs, leaning back against the hull wall and watches the happenings, arms folded.

Serid slowly sinks into the nearest metal chair, his hands clasped loosely in his lap, dark eyes observing behind curly hair. Do not hold hope that he can help you, he tells himself. There is no guiding DNA sample he may use as a model for me. Who I was... it is lost forever.

"Thank you." Simon said, and sat down. He ordered a new drink before speaking. "I apologize if I'm interrupting anything important." He said to Salem. "I am interested in information on the person you were speaking to just recently. The British guy in the old uniform. I believe he is a member of a group that my superior would like to make contact with. Do you know him or his allies well?"

Corliss nods.  "The storage room will have to do, then," he says, stepping into storage and lightly setting the tupperware container on the small metal table.  He wipes his wet hands on his black uniform and sidles out of the way to the far corner of the room, watching worriedly.

<<God, I hope this works,>> Mike says with trepidation.  His mind fills with frantic thoughts of the procedure making Terenia vanish, or turn inside out, or any of a half dozen other morbid thoughts.

Corliss chews on Mike's lip.  <<Will you stop that rot?>> he demands.  <<It's only making me more anxious.>>

<<Here I reckoned I was anxious because of you,>> Mike retorts.

<<We're both anxious, okay?  Now let me listen.>>

<<Temper,>> Mike says half-heartedly.

Salem nodded at Keshin. A 'case-by-case basis' was the best he'd been hoping for at this point anyway. He turned and smiled at Simon.

"No interruption. Name's Salem," he said, holding out a hand. "I'm a bit of a trader. If you like, you can take a look at what I have to offer," he said, patting the briefcase-like case that was now sitting in his lap." He laughed when Simon mentioned a "British guy." He wasn't entirely clear on what the term meant, but so far he'd only ever heard it applied to Corliss. "That guy's a waste of your time, if you ask me," he said. "He's a lot more trouble than he's worth."

Al laughed, "Not my Terenia. Don't try to shove her off on me. Like he said," he nodded towards Mar, "the rebels seem to think they've got some kind of claim to her."

He glanced at Mar, amused. "Is that authoritative clothing?"

He picked up his glass and raised it in Zorish's direction. "You're persistent, but really, if this person's not around, you won't make them show up any faster by waiting harder." He took a sip, shuddered visibly, and set the glass back down, "This bar's a great place for people-watching, though. So many people from so far away, and every single one of them seems to have a story to tell. Heck, even if you don't like good stories, there might be useful things to learn in the mix somewhere."

"Nice to meet you, Salem. I'm not sure what my boss would think of me shopping right now. It is his money I'd be paying with. He's mainly interested in the rebels, so unless I'm spending money to further that goal he might not want me to use it." Simon said. "So Corliss isn't the most approachable person, eh? Maybe that comes with the job. Even though our goals are similar, I don't have to be nearly as secretive or cautious as he likely does. where I come from, those ideals he's working towards have become the norm."

Keshin nods in agreement with Salem's statements about Corliss, rolling his eyes. "Yeah, no kidding. He has a ton of allies, so getting anything from him also requires you to go through the Peace Movement. I've agreed not to attack any of them as part of our agreement, but I'm not sure whether I like the Yeerk himself. He seemed kind of twitchy when I mentioned a certain...person me and my partner aren't thrilled with."

<Hey, it ain' really her fault attackin' her got us nearly killed.>

<Yeah, but getting attacked by your own immune system over a pissy blonde doesn't exactly endear you to her.>

<It ain' your system, Kess.>

<Yeah, sure sure.>

Keshin lays back in his chair, turning Joanne's head to Simon. "You're better off avoiding the rebels altogether unless you want the entire group. This Bar is their territory by a fashion, though. They don't own it, but they spend a lot of time here."
**********************************************************************************************
Mar grins at Al's and Zorish's comments regarding his clothes, pulling at his ascot. "Eighteen hundred years past, Yeerk. I suppose it is out of line with the military wear so many here appreciate. But in the times and places I prefer it is the mark of someone wealthy and powerful, which suits me well. I'm often associated with both. Cultural differences aside..."

Mar puts his arm underneath his chin, trying and failing to hide his interest. "...your manner is the opposite of your young sister. Well, perchance you seem to be. Judging from your garb however, that is not really you. How comes a society woman to this rotting old building?"

"I see. It would likely be a tricky business. The rebels are about the best thing for the Yeerk people, since they're fighting for host equality, though it's not in this Council's interests. I know it's worked out before, because it worked in my dimension. Unless this is my past instead of another dimension altogether. I haven't figured that out yet due to lack of information. If it's my past, then we shouldn't have to worry about it because things will work out on its own. If it isn't, helping the rebels would be best for everyone. I guess the easiest way to figure it out is to look up some historic events, and see if it matched up with the timeline."

Ossanlin follows Corliss back to the small storage room...so crowded...<You know, we could still carry Terenia to the Mirage.  My med-bay would have enough room for everyone, not to mention the medical capabilities...>

Corliss frowns, oblivious to the Andalite's claustrophobia.

"I don't want to risk moving her any further than we have to," he says firmly.  "Unless you reckon this room is so small it'll harm her or any of us in some way, we should do it here.  The pool's here too, if we need it."  He crosses his arms.  "Would that be acceptable?"
