Serid obeys Ossanlin, climbing the ramp after Efaen and standing beside her once on board. <<Efaen,>> he tells her privately, <<I am grateful for your participation in this procedure. I know you are likely only doing this for the War Prince's sake, but it gives me hope for my own prospects.>>

Illim follows Mike aboard, hands stuffed into Derrel's pockets. "Hope you don't mind me tagging along...?" he says to Ossanlin, raising his eyebrows with a smile and leaning casually against the hull wall. "My guess is we'll take off soon after this is done, and I don't wanna miss my ride to my new home."

<Indeed she is, and already in morph.  We are ready to begin.>  Ossanlin stands calmly at the top of the ramp, waiting.

Simon had moved a bit so when he took another look, it wasn't from the same position as before. Everyone but one Andalite seemed to have entered the ship. The hatch was open, but guarded. He decided to come out and try talking to the Andalite.

"Hi there." He said as he walked up.

<So you have shown yourself. You're the more lighthearted Imperial.> Claxter said. He still didn't like the guy much.

"Yes. Actually my Yeerk is feeding, but I was wondering if this was a rebel ship."

Claxter remembered his agreement with Serid that he would try not to endanger the rebels. Though he had talked to Zorish for the sake of another Efaen, he didn't want to talk to this guy. <You shouldn't be here. There is a procedure going on that does not concern you, and directly afterwards most of the people in there will leave.>

"Oh, really? do you know of any other rebels who frequent this place?"

<I do, but there's no telling when they will show up again. Waiting for them would be a waste of your master's valuable time.>

"I don't really know how long he'll be staying, rebels or no rebels. I'd just like to talk with them because we share common goals."

<I'm afraid the particular rebel you'd want to talk to is neither trustworthy, nor eager to speak with strangers. Return to the bar.>

"Alright. I'm going." Simon said, and left.

Salem smiled and shook his head at Keshin. "As nice as it sounds to 'take a load off,' I don't think it's in the cards. This bar has a way of keeping things far too interesting." When Keshin offered their help, Salem paused for a moment. "Actually..."

He closed his eyes and tried to feel his way around the bar with his new sense. As far as he could tell, every 'mana-based soul' that he could feel corresponded to a visible person... except for those that corresponded to Yeerks. There was no reason to believe that someone might be listening in nearby. Still, there was always the chance he was missing something. It occurred to him that Mar appeared as simply a darkness within the darkness... was there any chance Rathien was the same way? Would he be able to feel him if he was?

The beeping in his skull remained steady.

"There's a hunter who's tracked me here," he began. He glanced around. Where had his 'briefcase' gotten off to? Actually... that was it, under his stool, wasn't it? It must have been kicked there by mistake at some point. Strange how nobody seemed to notice it until it was needed. This bar...

He picked up the case, cracked it open, and sent a few thought-speak commands to a device inside. After a moment, what appeared to be a miniature, solid version of Rathien appeared to float in the air above the case.

"This is Rathien," he said to Keshin. "He's Ildari. Tracked me here, but has so far neglected to actually attempt the kill, and I'm not entirely sure why. Good hunter. Patient, observant and thorough, but he has this sense of predestiny that makes him easier to surprise. Among other things, he has active camouflage that makes spotting him visually a challenge." He smirked and snapped the case shut again, causing the projection computer within to shut off and the image of Rathien to disappear. Would it be asking too much for Keshin to kill the hunter? It might. Hmm... might I make a lighter offer, then, with flexible pay options?

"All I'd really need, if you could, is an extra pair of eyes. Just enough for early warning, if he does make a move. Try to figure out what his game is here. Although..." he looked back to the shelf of wines and liquors behind the bar, "if some... fatal accident... were to befall him, there might be some additional money to be had. In fact..." he glanced to his left. The bartender was there, well within earshot, but was absently wiping a once-silver tankard with his dirty bar towel as if nothing were going on. Funny how easy it was to stop thinking of him as a person. Salem found himself wondering, not for the first time, what the bartender's true nature was.

He shook his head and started again, "In fact, it might be even better if he were to simply fall unconscious. I've a little present for him."

Al grinned when Mar and Ewa approached the table. "Mar," he said, nodding at the man. "Hello again, Ewa," he said to her with a smile. He then proceeded to introduce everyone at the table, gesturing at each person as he said their name. "Ewa, Mar. Mar, Zorish. Zorish, Ewa." He paused for a moment to let them think he was done, then continued, "Zorish, Mar. Mar, Ewa. Ewa, Mar. Everyone, me. Me, everyone. Everyone plus me..." he looked after Garreth, who was by now across the room and locked in conversation with the other robed man. He hesitated, to make it as painfully obvious as possible that he was coming up with this on the spot, "Um... that's... brother... Jeffry. He's a monk. From..." he frowned as he looked at the two robed men across the room, then looked back at the table, grinning "Planet Needs-Help-With-Fashion-Sense. You know how monks are. Always on the go." He rolled his eyes melodramatically and laughed.

He turned to Zorish and shrugged, "It's a small community," he glanced at Ewa. She'd called Zorish a Sub-Visser? "Think of it as visiting a small town, Sub-Visser. You'll have to forgive us local yokels for being curious about someone who so perfectly resembles our very own Terenia." He took a sip from his own glass, then nudged the full one left by Garreth towards Mar. "If I might ask, what would you rather discuss?"

"Your Terenia?" Zorish raises his eyebrows. "I did not realize that the patrons of this bar were so fond of her. That seems odd, considering that she has been more or less confined to one of the ships." He shrugs. "No matter. I really don't care about Terenia or her importance here. The person I truly wish to speak with is, apparently, not present." He sighs, wondering if he should just cut the conversation short and return to his ship. At this rate, it didn't seem likely that Myitt would ever show up, and the occupants of the bar were becoming increasingly irritating.

Terenia also disconnects from the computer system, moving away from the edge of the pool. She sends a private message to both Corliss and Mike. <<Don't let Ossanlin get this wrong,>> she says, her mind filled with a million terrifying scenarios. Vaguely, inanely, she wonders what Mike will think about her conversation with Corliss about them being in a relationship. Somehow this thought only makes her more desperate for the procedure to be a success. <<Please.>>

Efaen glances at Serid, uncomfortable with his closeness and the fact that they are both in human form for the time being. <<Assuming that this procedure is successful,>> she says stiffly, <<It is my hope that you will be able to regain your own true form as a result.>>

She turns her attention back to Ossanlin, waiting for Corliss and Mike to emerge from the pool room so that she can receive her orders.

Corliss straightens Mike's back with a wince.  "Christ," he breathes, wiping pool fluid from Mike's ear with the back of his hand.  "How much did you bloody drink, mate?"

He blinks, caught in the middle of several thought-speech messages ringing through his head, plus the onslaught of Mike's most recent memories.

Then he clears his throat, realizing Ossanlin is waiting for him in the main cabin.  He walks as confidently as he can toward the ship's hatch, clasping his hands together and trying for a winning smile.

"Right, erh," he says, looking between the three Andalites and Illim.  "Medical supplies.  I'll show you to the storage room and we can pick out what you need, Ossanlin."  He eyes Efaen cautiously.  "Alone, if you'd be so kind."

Corliss heads towards the storage room door, adjacent to the pool room at the back of the cabin.  He presses his hand against the glowing red panel, and the door hisses open, revealing a small metal table ringed with gray metal cabinets and a small wash station.

Ewa watched as the brown-cloaked man excused himself, apparently uncomfortable with the other new arrival.  She saw him join another brown-cloaked man at a distant table.  They must be from the same production, she thought before turning back to the group.

With a nod of thanks, Ewa slid Zorish's drink the rest of the way over and took a small sip.  Quite a lot of protein for an alcoholic drink.  Maybe it's supposed to double as a meal?  She kept the glass pressed up against her lips to partially hide her smile as Al made his unnecessarily long string of introductions.  Her eyes were still twinkling as she lowered it.

"Nice to meet you, Mar," she acknowledged.

Her eyes traveled between Al and Zorish thoughtfully, but she didn't really understand the Sub-Visser's situation.  And this doesn't seem like the appropriate moment to ask.

Simon returned to the bar. He remembered a woman talking to the rebel who seemed familiar with him, so he went over to her. "Hello miss. My name is Simon, and I'd like to talk to you. May I sit down?"

<<Thank you,>> Serid responds to Efaen with sincerity. He clasps his hands calmly as he watches his new leader and Corliss.

Illim gives Corliss a wink of reassurance and lifts his hand to fiddle with a knob to a storage panel on the wall near where he is standing. He turns his gaze towards the two Warriors who are momentarily sharing the space with him.

"So," he says in an exaggerated smalltalk-making tone, "looks like I won't be seeing much of you anymore, Serid, though there's a new Andalite in my life." He gives Efaen a toothy grin, just in case she could not read between the lines; Andalites, he had learned rather painfully from his time with Serid, did not often understand humor.

~Ossanlin~

<Well, I do not really need any supplies.  Just a large room.  And for Terenia's comfort, some sort of container that could hold her in your...mineral...fl uid, in a non-confined space.  Preferably a container you do not mind being destroyed.  Otherwise Terenia will have to be laying out on your med table outside of an aqueous solution.  I know that this is not comfortable for the Yeerk body.  Also I am uncertain of how long this will take, and I do not wish her to dehydrate before the procedure is completed.>  He follows Corliss to the storage area as he speaks.

~Raile~

Raile nods in acquiescence.  His emotions sometimes still broke through his discipline.  His old master had always told him that dealing with emotions was a much better solution than trying to block them completely.  In the past four years, Raile had been attempting to feel more, and to deal with those feelings instead of shutting them behind a wall of serenity, after his old master's advice.

When Garreth responds in kind Raile smiles a bit and shakes his head.  "You flatter me, Master Garreth.  I am not a Master, only a humble Knight, and barely that.  I fear that there are no Masters left in my time.  I hope that I am wrong."

He pauses and considers revealing some of the history of the Mandalorian wars, at least what he knew of it.  It could be helpful, but then reconsiders.  It could also be dangerous or volatile as Garreth had said.  "I...yes I suppose time could be a tricksome thing.  I do have knowledge of the Mandalorian wars...every Padawan in my time used to...before the betrayal...I fear the Sith once again rule the Republic.  The Chancellor has declared the Republic as the First Galactic Empire now."

He sighs inwardly, such darkness clouds every part of the Force now.

Terenia squirms uneasily in the pool. She can only really hear Ossanlin's thought-speak; spoken conversation is too far away from the pool for the computers to pick up.

<Destroyed?> she repeats a little shrilly in open-thought speak. <Ossanlin, if you end up killing me, I swear I-> she cuts off, and if she had teeth she would be gritting them to prevent herself from speaking harshly to the Andalite. Just shut up and be nice to him until after the procedure, she chastises herself. She couldn't afford to anger Ossanlin.

<Sorry,> she amends quickly. <Just...don't kill me, okay? Or, you know, get me stuck as some sort of half-Yeerk, half-human blob.>

Efaen's human lip curls at Illim's attempt at human, her expression falling even further into revulsion when Terenia's nervous thought-speak fills the cabin.

"Yes," Efaen says to Illim tightly, speaking aloud this time. She too cannot afford to be cruel right now. Not when everything hinged on her being allowed to return with the rebellion. The effort is written plainly across her face. "I suppose that is true, but I assure you, Yeerk, our paths have only crossed because of necessity."

<Yes Terenia...have you forgotten that the human body is a slight bit larger than that of a Yeerk?  Your increasing mass and size will most likely destroy any container your Yeerk body may have been submerged in.>  Ossanlin watches Corliss impassively.

"I understand, can't get too friendly with the Yeerks; it's in your Andalite makeup," Illim smirks at Efaen. "Just saying... it's gonna get awful lonely up there with no one to talk to bunch of slugs you refuse to associate with and humans you're too good for."

Serid gives Illim a warning frown but says nothing more.

Corliss dutifully fishes through a number of hydraulic panels in the storage room, retrieving a plastic tupperware container.

He stops before leaving the storage room and glances at Ossanlin, his eyes flitting anxiously around the little room.

"Don't reckon this room will be large enough," he says worriedly.  "Perhaps we should perform this whole procedure in the cabin, it's got the most room by far.  Hang on, I'm going to retrieve Terenia."  He marches out of the storage room and around the corner into the humid pool room.

As he approaches the metal tub and fills it gently with warm gray pool water, he finally responds to Terenia's concerns.

"Don't worry, love," he says softly to the water's surface.  "I don't know what powers Ossanlin possesses, but I won't let him or anyone else hurt you."  He bites his lip, his own lack of confidence in the statement making his stomach churn.  "I've got a tupperware container set up; if you're ready, I can take you out of there.  Try and find Mike's hand, you know."

Corliss sets the dripping plastic container, balanced with one hand, on the metal lip of the tub.  He inwardly curses at not having rolled up his uniform sleeves, sticking his right hand into the water up to his soggy wrist in order to await Terenia's soft and slimy form.

Garreth ****s his head slightly at the words "the betrayal". Could our actions of joining the war be seen as a betrayal? Perhaps the council betrays us somehow? No, if anything, we would be considered the betrayers for joining a war the council expressedly said to stay out of. Perhaps, instead, one of our kind joins the fight too soon and is unable to resist the feelings of power through battle and turns to the Dark Side. It could be so many things. It would only prove dangerous to dwell on the future. Nothing can be gained from speculation. I will have to be cautious and aware as we progress further into this war.

Garreth decides to let the topic fall and instead replies to the former comment, "I am no more a Master than you are." He scratches above his right ear, bringing to light that his hair is a tad longer on the right side. "I attained the rank of 'Knight' officially not too long ago, though my trials ended quite some time ago."

A moment passes and he decides to ask towards the last bit of news given, "A Galactic Empire? How could the Senate allow such a thing?"
