I trust you, insofar as my brother trusts you, comes the succinct reply.

<<Terenia?>> he asks.  <<What's the verdict?>>

Myitt raises an eyebrow, squinting and leaning towards her screen, inspecting Derrel.

"Yeah? A new host," she replies skeptically.  "Huh.  You could do better."  She sits back and throws her hands up.  "Whatever, like I said, Reven's waiting for all of you guys.  I'm not your ****in' truant officer.  Quit drinking and get back here."

Mike laughs.  "Look who's talking, love."

Myitt favors Mike with a deprecating smirk.  "I never drink and drive."  She gives a little wave and ends the transmission.

<<I want to stay here,>> Terenia says, noting with dismay the way her thought-speak voice catches with nervousness. <<But if that's not possible, then yeah, whatever. I'll do whatever. ****. This is actually happening.>>

She disengages from the computer, leaving Corliss to send back the response at his own discretion. Instead she swims her small, Yeerk body away from the computer station and in small, tight circles around the pool, trying to expel the sudden onslaught of nervous energy that has overcome her. I think if I had a stomach I would throw up right now, she muses, wondering for the umpteenth time whether she is doing the right thing or not.

<<Corliss, I want you to be there with Mike,>> she says, coming to an abrupt halt. <<I want you to be able to stop them if they...I don't know, if he turns out to just be another lying Andalite with his own motives.>>

<<Hello Claxter,>> Efaen greets privately, not wanting to disrupt Ossanlin's transmission. <<We are preparing to initiate the procedure with Terenia. I believe that I will be departing with the rebels soon afterwards.>>

"The number of inhabitants isn't known," Zorish responds, licking suddenly dry lips. "There are areas of the galaxy where even we Yeerks cannot go. But within the reaches of our Empire, no, there is a fraction of that. Perhaps a dozen planets that boast sapience, and a few nomadic races. Most are useless as hosts, for various reasons. A hundred thousand..." he trails off, shaking his head in wonder.

<<You think we should tell the Empire?>> Tamora asks.

<<Not yet,>> Zorish says. <<If this is true, if this place could lend us access to an entire universe of viable hosts, there would be a very large promotion in store for me. Our continued safety would be all but impossible to destroy.>>

<<Why wouldn't you tell then?>>

<<Because our direct commander is an egotistical maniac who would take the glory for himself. Besides, the Empire has followed enough hopeful leads that turned out to be useless. They will want proof.>>

Zorish exhales deeply to calm his suddenly jazzed senses. "Tell me about this universe you come from," he asks Garret, his eyes snapping back into focus as he shifts his conversation outward. "It sounds quite different from my own."

Garreth begins to sense his conversation partner's blood rise with adrenaline. A hunger had arisen within her. Her new singular focus of hearing about his Galaxy unnerved him. A sapient parasite that breeds in the hundreds with each cycle, surrounded by a small number of host choices, learns of millions of potential hosts. He replies with a disarming smile, "But I know so little of your kind. I've talked about myself so much; and you seem to be dodging my questions." He added the last sentence with a teasing charm, raising his scarred eyebrow playfully. He wanted to try to divert the conversation without need of the Alter practices. The woman was becoming less inebriated, and his skills were not as honed as he would need. Though if it became necessary, he would certainly attempt it.

Derrel made no response to Myitt's comment. He was used to people being unimpressed with him.

<<I'm glad I could speak with you again before leaving. You'll be in communication with Prince Ossanlin, I'm sure, so you could feel free to talk to me if you wanted to.>> Claxter felt like reaching over and kissing her again, but he didn't. Part of him hoped she'd change her mind at the last minute, but she probably wouldn't. <<After all, I doubt you'll find any friends over there, but I'll be willing to talk.>>

Ossanlin, Terenia would like the procedure to be performed here, with Mike and me present, Corliss replies.  If you would give me a moment to hail Mike?

Without waiting for an answer he trills his own comm link, sitting on the table in front of Mike.

Terenia resumes her nervous swimming, running through a mental laundry list of all the possible ways this supposed procedure could go awry. Many of the scenarios she creates in her mind only fuel her anxiety, which begins to turn into frustration.

<<Calm down,>> she orders herself sternly.

<<I hardly expect to be granted conversational privileges,>> Efaen says. <<But thank you for the offer. It is good to know that there is a friendly tail on the other side.>> She offers him a small smile before turning her attention back to Ossanlin, waiting for him to detail their next actions.

"You have barely talked about yourself at all," Zorish says flatly, leaning back. He watches Garreth critically for a moment, then twists Tamora's lips into a tight-lipped smile. "I apologize if I have neglected to fulfill your curiosities. What would you like to know?"

Salem pulled his persona scanner from his pocket and clicked it at the other robed newcomer that'd walked through the door. There were two of them here now.

"Some kind of monk convention going on," he mused. There was something... he closed his eyes and tried to 'see' them with his newfound sense. In a place as crowded as the bar, there was a lot more going on than there had been in his little ship with only Mar around. The bright 'souls' of the bar's patrons were fairly easy to spot, even though his view of them still felt shaky. Those two seemed to have a sort of aura emanating from them, as well. So did some of the bar's other patrons, he noticed, but in different ways. Mar, in particular... he had no 'soul,' of course, and the aura didn't seem anywhere near the same, but the way the waving tendrils of black-within-black... something... behaved around the two newcomers was interesting indeed. They seemed to avoid the auras of the newcomers altogether, but seemed to grow more frantic near the edges of the auras.

Salem shook his head. He had no idea what the hell any of that meant. On a whim, he turned his attention behind him, and out the bar's door. He delighted in how easily he was able to feel the area behind him without having to turn his head to do it. He could learn to use this sense properly yet. Maybe this sense would allow him to spot Rathien... but either he wasn't outside the door, or it didn't work through the walls of the bar. Given the what he knew of the nature of the bar and this sense, he didn't know what was possible. He thought he could almost make out three auras in the shipyard... but he couldn't be sure. Too far away, or too weak. There was no way he could pinpoint where they were, either. Not used enough to this sense to properly associate it with his other senses. The being right beside him... that was Al. The android appeared to be a brighter spot in the darkness... but his 'soul' didn't feel the same as most of the other patrons. Again, Salem would have to give himself time to figure out what any of this meant. Jeeze, me with this sense is like a toddler with a holocamera, he thought.

He opened his eyes. Al was watching him with a look of amusement.

"What?" he said defensively.

"Look on your face, dude. Like a constipated weasel," Al said with a grin.

Salem aimed to punch Al in the shoulder, but the android easily dodged and laughed.

"I wonder if that's the real Keshin," Salem said, nodding at the hunter across the bar. He watched as Keshin left the conversation with Mike. That was good. He wanted to avoid Corliss if at all possible.

"Oh, right, I almost forgot. Real Keshin's back," Al said, smiling mischievously.

Without another word, Salem made his way across the bar, smirking at Al over his shoulder. He sat down next to Keshin.

"Hey," he said, facing forward, to the shelves of various bottles behind the bartender. "Back so soon? I figured that useless rebellion would keep you out of this place for a while." He smiled and turned to Keshin, "It's good to see you, though." Something... he briefly closed his eyes... something about the aura Joanne gave off...

Al watched as Salem walked off, then shrugged and glanced around the room. Zorish and the newcomer with whom she was sitting... they were talking. Both of them seemed to be extremely interested in whatever was being talked about... and both looked like they were fairly calm, but Al had been a people-android for longer than most of the bar's patrons had been alive. He was quite good at reading people. Both of their calm demeanors were a result of training, or practice, or experience. They were tense, and might benefit from having their conversation interrupted.

Besides, he'd kind of enjoyed Zorish's company earlier. He walked over and, without waiting for an invitation, plopped down in one of the chairs near them.

"Aloha, and may the Kandrona shine and strengthen you, and all that jazz," he said to Zorish with a smile. "Name's Al, pleased to meet you," he said, holding out a hand for Garreth to shake. He turned back to Zorish, "Nice to see you loosening up a bit," he said, nodding at the Yeerk's glass. "Any luck with that sister situation of yours?"

Serid looks down at his trilling comm with surprise and picks it up just as, unbeknownst to him, Corliss has placed his conversation with the War Prince on hold.

<<Warrior Serid here, sir,>> the nothlit replies, his dark eyes searching the holoscreen, waiting for the Andalite's face to appear, the delay happening rather frequently with the outmoded, stolen technology. <<How may I serve?>>

Illim laughs as the comm between Mike and Myitt is cut, and he gives the Brit a sideways grin. "She is so damned cute," the Yeerk pronounces happily.

<<Hah, no, you're alright, my friend,>> Illim assures his host in response to his self-deprecation. <<Not sure I'm the most ideal Yeerk for you and all, but I think the partnership is working well enough for the moment. Yeah?>>

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin opens the transmission with Serid.  <We will be proceeding with Terenia's operation shortly, Warrior.  If you should care to watch, please come out to the shipyard at your earliest convenience.>

He turns his main eyes to Claxter.  <I do not know how much room there is inside the Skimmer's sick-bay.  I would rather use my own facilities but I doubt Terenia would agree to that.  If there is room, you may watch, though I require Efaen's presence at the least.  I'm certain Corliss and Michael will wish to look on as well.  And Serid because of his unique situation.  If there is room.>

<I will wait out here, my Prince. My presence would probably hinder more than help, though the event could be interesting to watch. Good luck, to both of you.> Claxter said.

<<I do believe it is. I have no complaints so far.>> Derrel said. It helped that he tried not to think of the less appealing details like Illim being a worm wrapped around his brain, and just focused on the fact that he was a good guy.

Mike raises his eyebrows.  "Like Corliss said, mate, just don't let her hear you say that."  He's still grinning when his comm trills again.

"Oh, hell," he sighs, tapping up the holoscreen.  "Yeah?"

He blinks at the lack of response, and then realizes it's a text-based hail.  His smile fades.

"Hey, uh, sorry," he murmurs hesitantly, standing up and leaving his beer.  He swiftly closes the holoscreen with a swipe of his hand.  "Corliss sort of needs me.  You know."  He taps the side of his head.  "It's the whole procedure with Terenia.  Tell you what, reckon you should come with us.  You want to prove you're trustworthy?  This'll clinch the deal, if you don't shoot anyone in a room full of the blue and the helpless."

Without waiting for Illim or Derrel he steps sideways away from the table, heading for the door.

"Oh, I'm not afraid of her response," Illim quips with a laugh. "And yeah, I reckon I can keep my trigger finger under control," he rolls his eyes with a smirk, standing up, his chair scraping loudly along the floorboards. He follows Mike a few feet behind.

<Yes, sir,> Serid gives a calm nod, despite the abrupt and surprising jump in his heart rate. He cuts the transmission, standing from his seat and turning towards the door, falling in line behind Mike and Illim. "I presume you are attending this spectacle as well?" he murmurs to the rebel and rebel-to-be as they make their way past rickety tables and chairs.

Simon noticed three people just get up and walk out after getting some kind of call. One of them being Serid, and the other being the person with the old Imperial uniform. He decided to investigate this, and watched them. Once they exited, he'd make his way to the door, and see which way they were heading. Unfortunately he didn't have a stealth morph, so following them may not be really easy.

<<Tell Serid I said hey.>> Derrel said. He didn't know if he wanted to be there or not, but if Mike wanted them to prove themselves, he'd be there.

Mike glances back at Serid in surprise.  "What is this, a bloody party?  Who invited you, Ossanlin?"

He pushes open the big creaking wooden door and holds it open for his friends with a boot.
