<<Yeah,>> Terenia says with a thought-speak sigh. <<I know. I just...>> she falters, finding it difficult to remain angry. She is not the sort of person to hold to her emotions long - they are far too volatile and shifting for that. It hardly helps that Corliss has done nothing to directly feed her anger. His eternal calmness is infuriating in its own way - infuriating because it makes it impossible for her to be furious.
<<I don't like being alone,>> she finally says, sounding embarrassed. <<I still have Andalite and human instincts, you know. Neither of those species are too happy to be blind and helpless, submerged in gunk. And I'm used to...I'm used to having Efaen around too. Even when I feed, she's never far off. Never out of thought-speak range. When you left me along here I ->> she cuts off, feeling foolish. <<Nevermind. I don't know why I'm talking about this with you.>>
Zorish finally finds what he is looking for - the audio transcript of the file that brought him here. Curiously, he plays it back, listening to the thought-speak voice intently. He finds it a bit difficult at first; thought-speak tends to sound the same to him, no matter who is speaking. After a third play-back, though, there is no denying the identity of the voice.
<<So,>> Zorish muses. <<The Andalite female has a bigger role in this after all. Corliss identified her as Terenia's former host.>>
<<Terenia, who is supposedly Teresa,>> Tammy says.
<<Yes. Clearly the two are not on good terms. Perhaps the Andalite will be of use to us.>>
<<You want to make a deal with an Andalite?>> Tammy asks fearfully. Zorish does not respond directly. Instead, he takes the opportunity to check his weapons, making sure that they are once again functional, before opening the hatch and hopping down to the gravel.
"If nothing else," he finally says aloud, "I am beginning to get a clearer picture of what has happened here. Let's go find our Andalite."
He sets off for the bar, cloaking his ship behind him.
