Van raised an eyebrow, "You say that you think this is a painkiller. Oy..."

He took the vial, and shrugged, "Well, we'll see if it works, then! I just, uh...?"

The vial, though small, provided no hint as to how to use it. Dumbly, Van decided just to open it and take a whiff- the smell was disorienting. He cringed, "All right, how do I use this?"

He looked up at Adam, and pleaded, "Please don't tell me I have to drink it, chaa."

Adam digs through the medkit, looking for some other clue. He starts taking everything out, stacking it on the bar, looking for something that looked like it might go with the vial. Nothing. "Okay," he says slowly. "Either you're supposed to drink it, or... whatever you're supposed to use with it is lost."

Van gulped. If it required a syringe, he had syringes. Problem was, they were all on his ship, and wouldn't be easily accessible. That, and they were filled with something else.

He closed his eyes, and nodded. In all likelihood, considering the packaging, it wasn't meant to be injected. He would have preferred a needle, at any rate. Van gulped again, and examined the bottle once more. Liquid. No syringe. He had to drink it.

"Well, I suppose I should... swallow it, then. I'd make some overly dramatic formal statement about this possibly being the last minute of my life, but the thought repulses me. That's it. I'm Van Aldbaran, and here's to... Bad-smelling medicine. Ah, zhon."

The space pirate held his nose, put the vial to his mouth, and drank. It was definitely a gamble, since neither he, nor the man who handed him the vial, knew the dosage requirements...

((Oops, double misunderstanding, lol! When you said "Where is this Bar" I thought were said "Where is the bar". I thought YOU were outside. Okay, everything's fine...:P ))

Ogreon watched as the man took drank the liquid.

"If it doesn't work, my ship has an immense sick-bay. It's one of the greater benefits of having a large ship that is mostly devoted to science.", he laughed.

He noticed that some of the man's language wasn't coming through the translator.

"What...what does zhon mean?"

After drinking up as much as he could, Van coughed, hard. He dropped the vial, gripped his throat, and suppressed a gag. The flavor was... indescribable, and not in a good way, either.

"For the record, guys, never make me drink that again. Can't even begin to describe what that... uh, 'experience' was like..."

He stuck his tongue out, and tried to relax as the thick, syrupy liquid made its way down his throat. The aftertaste was equally repulsive, but he tried hard to keep it all down.

"Ugh... a...a zhon? Ugh, just the Beryllian phrase for ... ah... Uh, the closest approximation is 'stupid me'. Basically, I feel like an idiot. Just don't say side effects include death or something, chaa."

(("Chaa" for that matter is a semi-meaningless word. It's like saying "yeah" after every other sentence and is a filler word, in a way. The guy has a pretty strong accent, but I'm trying hard not to preserve his less-than-understandable pronunciations of his second language. "Shut up!", for example, comes off as the very bizarre "Shat ahp".))

((Mod note: Guys, please, keep out of character (OOC), "double parentheses" comments to the OOC thread.  Thanks.))

Slivers of the bar start to worm their way back towards the shifted and slumped half of the building, as rafters prop back into place and foundation rebuilds.

The ship, sticking with its body half inside the bar and half covered in pieces of it, shudders and lifts up off the ground.  It is deposited just outside the perimeter of the bar, its butt end sticking into the trees.

The bar wall continues to melt back into its normal shape, free of obtrusions, hoisting the building back into something resembling normality.

A last few straggling pieces of wood shiver and squirm across the gravel, hurrying to rejoin the rest.

Corliss watches all this impossibility, feeling a bit numb.

"Illim?" he squeaks.  "Are you...um...are you seeing this?"

Jagill was looking through the scanners at the bar. "The bar is pushing the ship out by itsself. That's a strong bar. Maybe we don't need to help after all."

Ewa sips at her drink and watches people's reactions quietly.

So this place is not supposed to be reconstructing itself.  Figures I would get a first reaction wrong.  At least no one seems to care that much.

More annoying was the general lack of direction.  For the moment things seemed somewhat focused on the ugly ship and its pirate, but they had just destroyed the only permanent building in the area.  Where was she supposed to be?  Why were there so many non-humans around?

If everything else was a mess though, she had to admire the pirate.  She had gotten a good look at his leg and not only was he truly wounded, but the damage went fairly deep.  That was impressive dedication.  Maybe it would be best to incorporate with some guidance.

She turns to Adam, who seemed to have the most knowledge of the scene at hand.

"Hey," she nods towards the barkeeper, "do you think that he could get me something besides a drink or a med kit?  Say, a change of clothes maybe?"

The gray shift she was wearing matched her eyes, skin and hair.  It marked her as a newcomer to the scape.  It was also extremely inappropriate to remain in it any longer than absolutely necessary.  So much time had already passed that everyone probably thought she was a novice.

Adam watches Van, half expecting him to have some sort of violent reaction to whatever was in the vial. Feeling more than a little relieved when that appears to not be happening, he turns to the person addressing him.

"You're probably better off asking a patron." He jerks his thumb at the bartender. "He doesn't seem to talk, as far as I can tell. Least he hasn't said a word since I got here."

Thankfully for Van, whatever was in the vial didn't appear to be killing him. In fact it seemed to be working. That is, if one could call their legs suddenly, and violently, tingling like they were asleep 'working'...

"I think this painkiller's working... too well. Aw, visht! I can't feel my toes anymore, chaaa."

Van groaned and looked up at Adam, "Don't tell me I overdosed..."

Van glanced back where his ship was, in hopes that he could crawl over and maybe get inside to retrieve the Vivalite for his own use. But, much to his surprise, the ship was gone! In fact, the wall was perfectly intact again, and the booths had apparently moved (on their own?!) back where they should be.

"Dwah? Wh-wh-where's my ship...?"

Van sat there, staring at the wall dumbly for quite a while. It just didn't make any sense. Though he wasn't experiencing terrible side effects,it probably was a good thing he wasn't doing anything at the moment, either.

Van blinked at Ogreon, and shook his head, "Ah... n-no. It's not like I don't know where it landed, just that..." He squinted at the wall, turning his head in curiosity, "My ship, it was sticking out through that wall. Which is a wall... again."

Trying to discern the situation, Van leaned over, and tried to pull himself up. His legs, however, were still tingling like crazy. That and, his right leg was still out of commission. However one would put it, the result was the same: Van's legs flailed everywhere, and he smacked into the floor again.

"Ow."

Hmmm.... the bartender did look overly taciturn.  Surely "Adam" wasn't saying she was so incompetent that she should stay dressed this way any longer than necessary....

While Ewa was ruminating, Van took the opportunity to fall down.  Twice.  Maybe Adam was not the character she should be asking for help if this is what "help" looked like.

She gets down beside Van and offers him her hand.  "Here, let me help you up.  You were trying to get to your ship?"

Really, Ewa was tempted to call it a "monstrous lump of a ship", but maybe that's what they were all supposed to look like.  It would be best to minimize the opportunities she gave herself to screw up.

Adam rubs the back of his neck. "I'm sorry, I--" He reaches over and picks up the now empty vial, examining it. He sighs. "I'm, uh, not really much of a doctor." He looks toward the now reconstructed door, grimacing. "Maybe I should find someone who's better at reading this stuff then I am. Someone who actually knows medical terms in Yeerkish."

The centipede-like creature noted that the wall of the bar was actually regenerating.

"Perhaps the wall pushed the ship back out?", Ogreon conjectured.

Listening as Adam apologizes, Ogreon pipes up, "As I said, if you need any medical assistance, my ship has a medical bay at least 5 times the volume of the bar. I'm sure we can..."

Ogreon heard the last word to come out of Adam's sentence, "Yeerkish? As in...Yeerk?"
