Salem smiled and opened his case, from which he began pulling an eclectic assortment of small objects, and setting them on the table.
He talked as he did so, "I obviously can't trade the really good stuff for something as simple as a DNA sample, but I can let you guys pick one of these little fun items. These are EMP patches- activating one will give you a couple minutes in which most electronic devices won't work, at least relatively close to the patch. A DNA sample's worth... we'll say three. These are Ennish crystals, which'll probably only be interesting if any of you've got natural strength in magic or telepathy." He cast a sidelong glance at Elayne as he said this. He still wasn't entirely clear on what she was, but her attitude towards the future was starting to make him think she might be a taker for the crystals. "This is a vial of healing nanites- I'd inject you directly, and they'd live inside you, warding off sickness and healing wounds til the end of your days. Should add a couple years of health to your life. They're only tuned for humans and Andalites and, conveniently, Hork-Bajir," he said with a wink to Temrash. "This little kit will upgrade Shredders and Dracon Beams with a sight attachment. It should work on most other pistol-type weapons as well. Let's see... I've got a bunch of Furka stuff I think you'd all like- Slick Brenda's paint mixing instructions, manufacturing directions for Sparkle-Be-Good fabric, a collection of literature and art from the entire galaxy where I come from, joke products- nobody plays pranks like Furka. And these," he said, setting a collection of small, finely crafted, ornately decorated, oddly shaped knives in equally impressive sheathes on the table, "are Paladinian blades. Extremely high quality, guaranteed sharp for life."
He looked around the table and grinned. Hopefully someone around here would prove to be a reasonably profitable trading partner, and nothing seemed to help reel them in more than a collection of items like this one, passed off as his "cheap" stuff and given away for what seemed like nothing.
