Chris felt weak because it had been hard for him to control the instinct and the others seemed to do it so easily.

I walked up to a person who seemed to be very distinguished, "Hello. I am the one Tiberi introduced as Kage Gretha. How are you?"

((OOC: I haven't posted in awhile, so I guess I'll jump on this one. *shrug*))

Arhareli turned to face Kage.

Mesa nodded to Lee and stepped into the isolation room.  She focused on a rough image she had garnered from one of the human's minds.  Focused on what it must be like.  Strong.  Fast.  Like a Leeran swimming.  Soon, there was a strange sound as one set of tentacles retracted into her body, and the other began to thicken.  Her legs grew and lengthened, and with a strange grinding noise she was soon horizontal.  Her body lengthened, and the base of her head was squeezed into a neck.  The top of her head shrunk as the froglike shape of her body vanished into one smooth torso.  Fur began to sprout, itching slightly, a tawny golden with spots dotting its length.  The last thing to grow was a tail, stretching out.

Mesa prepared herself, but the slamming wave of instincts was still shocking.  She tensed, growling and looking around.  Small space!  No good!  No room to run!  Strange scents.  But she was the predator.  The--NO!  She was Mesa.  Mesa-Teern.  A Leeran.  She managed to suppress the instincts, and morph back into her normal Leeran form.  That was definitely bizarre. She said as she stepped out of the isolation room.  But I believe I am ready.

Marty marveled at the others as they morphed, simply because it was such a fascinating thing to watch. It was particularly interesting watching the froglike Leeran become feline. After the Seer and the Leeran had finished, Marty stepped in the room, latching the door behind him, as the others had. He removed his outer layer of clothing, only the black suit remaining. He closed his eyes, and recalled in his mind Kage's morph, and everything he knew of the creature he was to become. Their keen eyesight. Their unmatched hearing. Their sense of smell that no man could imagine. People may as well be blind when compared to the wolves' ability to learn about their environment through the subtlest scents. He thought about what it would be like... being able to smell the others who'd already been here. Lion, gorilla, Leopard, another wolf. In fact, he wasn't just imagining.
While his eyes were closed, Marty's jaw jutted out, and his whole head narrowed. His teeth rearranged themselves, grew to points, and filled his mouth. And his nose crawled to the front of his muzzle, becoming black, and damp. Marty became aware of the other changes. His knees had switched directions with a sudden pop, and a cracking sound that should have hurt. And his legs were covered in shaggy gray fur. Within moments, he was Canis Lupus, the Gray Wolf.
It was exciting for Marty. Exhilirating. Wolves liked to run, and he would have, but there was no room here. Wolves were pack animals, highly social, yet there were no others. Marty howled. But no one came. After a few seconds, Marty said, <The wolf doesn't like being alone. It bothers him. And Kage has a noticeably male wolf morph, by the way. Good thing we didn't try morphing together....>

Jim watched as Mesa morphed - that was definitely a weird sight, seeing the frog-like Leeran take the grace and power of a big cat. She seemed to lose control for just a moment, but it was over so fast he wasn't even sure it had happened, and then she was demorphing.

Marty didn't seem to have even a hint of trouble controlling his morph. In fact, he was apparently comfortable enough to try out thought-speech... I hope my morph goes that well. Might as well try it...

"Can I go next, please?" he asked.

By all means, I reply to Jim, Marty, Mesa, Kage, you all did quite well.
To Chris, I say privately, Sorry to intrude, but I sense the feelings of inadequacy that you have. Let me assure you that everyone experiences some troulble controlling their first morph. If I may say so, you handled yourself better than I did, the first time I morphed.

"Re..." I mean, really? Thanks for reassuring me. Chris felt better because of what Lee had said.

Mesa felt slightly bad.  So focused has she been on her own morph that she hadn't noticed Chris.  I only kept control because I could sense how strong the instincts are before I morphed.  Do not worry about it.  Pay attention, she scolded herself.

Do not worry, Mesa, I say to her, privately, It's one thing to read thought, it's another entirely to be completely Ke to the people around you. When you spend everyday of your life hearing the thoughts of others, it's easy to overlook the little things.

Mesa visibly jerked in surprise.  Ke? She demanded privately.  You are Ke sensitive?  How did you acquire that morph?

The human equivalent of a Ke would be something like an empath, sensitive to the emotions of those around you.  He must have spent much time on Leera, she thought in wonder.  To know about this.  Could this relate to the...unease I was feeling earlier?

<Well, I suppose I will go now.>

Arhareli stepped into the room and locked it, took off her belt and hung it on a peg on the wall, and she immediately began the tiger morph. Her fur shifted pattern to serve as jungle camouflage; her stalk-eyes and tail-blade simultaneously shrank away, leaving her feeling momentarily defenseless-

-until her hands and hooves reshaped into massive paws with long, black claws, and her vision took a level in clarity and sensitivity to movement.

She sank down onto four limbs, felt the dense feline muscles layering over each other under her fur... felt the mind of a solitary apex predator rise beneath her own.  The tiger was unperturbed that it could smell wolves, and it could smell human and tiger blood coming from the belt on the wall... it could also smell her own Andalite presence from a moment before, and Arhareli was startled by how much it resembled prey...  but the tiger didn't like these walls.

I agree; I dislike enclosure. I don't expect to need this morph more often than my own form... I prefer to engage combat with tail and Shredder... but I can cooperate with these instincts to protect myself, at need. This is good and sufficient.

<That went well and without surprises; while I am here I think I should try my human morph as well.>

Reli demorphed, taking her time to avoid fatigue, and then she started her human morph.  The tiger had prepared her to lose her stalk-eyes and primary defenses, but she was still startled by the complete loss of external balancing mechanisms.

Reli managed to stumble to the nearest wall for support until the morph was complete.

She looked down at her hands, only ten digits now... the morphing suit which had shifted to cover most of her body. Then she attempted speech, mimicking the way she had seen humans position their mouths for sounds.

"Mmmmyyy nnnname izzz Arharellliii. Hmmmn. The mmmm sound and the zzzz sound arrre verrry satisfying. Ing. Fying? I think- ink? I think I will need to practice speaking ing normalllyyy... or elsssse I should not speeak at allll in front ovvvv people outside our group. Oh! vvvvv is startling! Alssso, how do humannnnz manage with onlyyy two legzzz?"

Arhareli took a tentative step from the wall, felt her balance shift forward suddenly, and shot out the other foot awkwardly in an attempt to catch herself.

"Thisss will need some work. I will demorfffffffffff now. Fffffff."

She retreated into her natural form as quickly as she could and stepped out of the room, and she adjusted her belt around her waist.

<Well, I believe that is everybody. What now?>

Excellent. Well done, Reli. Since I anticipate that it may take some getting used to, we'll have Marty carry you on his shoulders and explain that you had a tool box dropped on your foot as we were unpacking. I look at the shuttle panel for the time.
It's been half an hour. I have to make sure to remember that. It means I have only an hour and a half until I need to 'excuse' myself again. I shake my head clear.

We will be landing shortly.
We will be landing shortly.

I look at everyone, We will be landing shortly. I ask that all those that need to, take your human morph. Everyone else, please don your morph suits. Corporal, you and your team my keep them under your clothes for now.

I run my tentacles over the shuttle control, turning the walls transparent. Beneath us, an island is approaching, positioned in a random part of the ocean.
Upon closer inspection, the island is revealed to be artificial. A ship, deigned to submerge and move at random throughout the ocean and even capable of entering orbit. Whatever this prison is, it's kept on the move to prevent anyone or anything learning of its' location. How Tiberi came to learn of its' existence alone is a testament to his resources.

But the most interesting part is its' design. The architecture of the island itself is reminiscent of the Military Industrial Machine that has come to be associated with earth technologies, but the weapons systems guarding it are Andalite. Shredder Cannons, to be specific, used only on Dome Ships and heavy duty Andalite craft.
It's clear that the prisoners here are under the highest guard that human and Andalite technology can achieve.

As the shuttle begins its' final descent, you are all given a chance to prepare.

Lee was avoiding the question.  Idiot!  Mesa thought.  Just read his mind.  So she focused in on Lee's mind, but all his thoughts were directed elsewhere.  He was trying to misguide her, she was sure.  But just as she was about to try some poking around in his memory, the news that they would be landing shortly interrupted her.  I'll have to morph human now, she realized.  Holding the morphing suit close, she began to morph, and it instantly wrapped around her, fitting her now shifting form perfectly.  She focused on the humans around her, imagining her own froglike shape changing, becoming one of them.

She grew, first, which had to be rather disturbing.  Soon, her skin was smoothing out again.  Again, the head grew, the lobe at the top shortening and the bottom being squeezed into a neck.  One set of tentacles vanished entirely, while the other thickened and began to form hands.  Mesa was balanced as she had two legs in the first place, but what she didn't expect was the...

silence.

She had been focusing on the leopard's instincts, she hadn't noticed.  There was no low hum of the background noise of other people's minds.  Just her own thoughts, echoing emptily.  "Aaah!"  She yelped, spinning around.  "Wh...what...it's...why is it silent?"  She paused for a moment, breathing heavily.  "Oh," she realized, and flushed.  "I am no longer psychic....and I'm speaking!  Ing.  Kuh-ing.  K is a wonderful, sharp sound.  Sshhhhh.  Smooth.  Ssss.  Oh dear.  Duh-ear.  Ear-uh.  This will take, aKE, getting used to.  To.  T."  She flushed again.  Perhaps I better not speak either, she thought.
