Jim silently acquired his polar bear's DNA, then watched as Chris morphed the lion. The morphing was definitely not pretty to see, but not as bad as he had heard. It seemed too easy to lose control of the morph, though, and that was worrying. I wonder how strong the polar bear's instincts will be? It's a predator, and a strong one at that, so it'll probably want to hunt. I wonder if I can control that...

He would have started pacing the floor, but didn't want the others to realize that he was worrying so much. Not like I can hide that from you anyway, Lee and Mesa, he thought wryly. Oh well. Any suggestions on keeping control?

A second Leeran? This was even more interesting than Marty had already thought. He hadn't even known that Lee was morph-capable. So Tiberi did have an Escafil Device, it seemed. Fascinating. It was true what his Communications Tech instructor had said during one of his rants; "If you control information, you control everything." Marty watched Chris as he changed to and from his newly acquired lion morph. He seemed to have stayed in morph just long enough to gain that crucial initial control over the first barrage of instincts. Marty wondered what wolf instincts were like.... He would take his turn in the room once there was an opening.

I speak to Jim, privately, Keeping control is as easy as holding onto a memory, sometimes. Something that helps you define you as you. Other times, depending on the instincts of the morph, it can be a true battle. I anticipate that yo will not have much trouble with the Polar Bear morph. Humans are not all that different in their predatory nature.

Thanks for the advice, Jim thought. He immediately knew which memory to hold: his first time writing a computer program. That had been a defining moment in his life, and he was certain he could keep the memory firmly in mind.

Much less worried, he settled down to wait for his turn in the morph-testing room.

Chris looked around the room. "Who's next?"

"I'll go", i said as i started walking towards the room. I entered the room and locked the door so i wouldn't be able to escape. I walked into the middle of the room and faced the others. I then started thinking about the gorilla and the way it looks and how it moves and concentrated on the fur, I started to feel an itch and looked at my hands they were covered in fur! My arms grew next they just increased in size and just kept growing it was like they were never going to stop, while this was happening my feet started to shift and started to look like hands. My legs shortened and my chest became bare and leathery, as did my face. The morph was complete. The instincts didnt hit me that hard all i knew is that i was hungry and wanted food so i started walking around until i came to the mirror and said to everybody <Does anybody have any food for me im pretty hungry in this morph?> I then realized i needed to take more control so i did and i decided that i was in control and could do it again so i thought about my human self and after a little over a minute I was myself again. That was fun.
Marco: Now do you see why it's crazy to think we can beat the Yeerks? I mean, come on: We can barely beat zoo security.

Tobias: (now stuck as a hawk) They'll come. The Andalites will come. And until then...
Jake: (nods and wipes tears) Yeah. Until then, we fight.

With his new Human and Wolf DNA infused, Kage decided to practice morphing...the Wolf of course, since he had nothing to cover his nude human morph.

His beak softened, becoming a furry snout. His nostrils narowed and moved to the front of his mouth. They became wet, and fused into the terran canine nose.

He shrunk! 5' 7". 5'. 4' 3". 3'. 2' tall. He fell onto his arms, which became paws with non-retractable claws. Then, his rear legs followed suit...

Ears sprouted, like sonar dishes. Fur covered him. His tail shortened. He growled.

He was the wolf.

Well done, Kage, I say, once he has finished morphing, You too, Shaun. Now Kage, focus on what I'm saying to you, focus on your role as a Seer. Concentrate on returning to your Hork-Bajir form.

After Lee had given Jim tips on morphing, Mesa added, Emotion is nothing to be ashamed of.  But Lee and I should be able to help if you loose control, given that we can sense if you did.

Shaun morphed, and he didn't have any problems.  He was only hungry.  But when Chris had morphed, it had taken a little bit.  Well, I realize how the instincts can be, since I am psychic, Mesa said to herself.  So hopefully I won't have any problems.  May I use the isolation room next? She asked, looking around.  She was very eager to find out what it was like.

"Kage seems to be taking it quite well." It seems that I'm just weak-minded. Chris tried not regret his abilties but he couldn't help it.

((May I have the honors? It is December 28. Just delete my comment if I'm too early.))

The Wolf.

I felt the urge inside me. Kill. It wanted to eat. Terran creatures had always been very violent, especially when seen next to creature from my own world.

The voice in my head told me to return to Hork-Bajir form. Hork-Bajir form.

I focused on my own body. I am a seer. That is why I was on this mission. I am not a Wolf.

My snout hardened and became a green beak. The nostrils moved back to their original positions. My ears became flat and unobtrusive. My fur melted together, and became a green scaly system.

I grew. 3 to 4 feet higher than the Wolf form. My tail grew, rippled with muscles I had somehow forgotten. The blades grew back into place...

And my forward horn grew...grew...stopp ed. It was a genetic mutation. It was in my DNA. I had a stumped horn. I wasn't getting out of it.

I was Hork-Bajir again.

The trip onto the space shuttle is a bit unnerving for Reyna, and her stomach lurches uneasily as she steps aboard. For a moment she is worried that she will lose her lunch, but luckily her brain quickly compensates for the change in gravity and after a moment it is as though there were no change at all.

When Lee appears with the vials of blood, Reyna is the last to acquire her chosen morph. Wolf, she notes, wondering why he may have chosen it for her. According to Lee and Tiberi all of the morphs were chosen specifically for the morpher. What about me screams 'wolf'? Then she realizes that two others have been given a wolf morph. They're putting me in a pack. I already stand out enough as it is, and they're making it so that I am part of a group. Reyna isn't sure whether she is happy about this or not, but she acquires the DNA without any fuss.

When Chris steps into the chamber to morph Reyna discreetly looks away, continuing to stare at the floor through Shaun and Kage's morphs. She has seen one too many movies that feature morphs gone wrong, and the thought of watching it in real life makes her a bit queasy. Better get used to it, part of her warns. You'll be up before long. Quickly she finds something else to think about.

Well done, Kage, I say, nodding at him as he leaves the isolation room, Mesa, if you feel ready, then please proceed.

Kage seemed to have taken control rather quickly of the wolf morph. He watched very closely, paying apt attention to his behavior, and the process in general. It had to be such an experience to actually become another creature. What a wonder of technology.
