I just got mine yesterday! I also got Portal 2 yesterday, so unfortunately, my new books are still sitting on my shelf unread. ^^;

Agh, I'm such a big fan of the first Portal. I'm giving myself a week to catch up on all the work I have before I go get it myself. Productivity is going away for a long time as soon I get it.

wth all of you canadians have the books and havent even read them yet?! I wana know if they are different from the originals!!!!

Hey don't forget, the U.S. has had them an entire month before us (via Scholastic's store)!

Also, I finished the first book last night. Yes, they are slightly different. I'd rather not spoil it for everybody, but you can read my review for it here.

It's still officially launched in May, so I have no idea why they have been released early in some parts. Scholastic hasn't given me a reason as to why either (Why question it? This is a good thing. )

And yes, the story exactly the same. There is only one major change/update, but it doesn't affect the ending, beginning, or anything else. And the rest are minor and unnoticeable unless you are actually looking for them. So all this does is make the series more timeless rather than date it back to the 90's, which is a good thing for introducing the series to new readers especially.

well, im still not sure i will buy them. I swore off K.A. applegate after the book #54 (I promised myself I would never buy another K.A. book again). BUT I will see if i can get the first one from the library, read it, and then see if that changes my mind

nothing obvious is changed except for that one scene.
i read the whole book side by side with the original, and i recommend you try the same.

fixed, not changed. i've had the first two books for a month and a half or so - got them online (with the discount too!).

FYI, the fans at LJ are saying that the new books are now available in Waldenbooks/Borders. Also, Amazon (Canada & U.S) has started shipping out the books as well.

     1) Essam, if you don't mind my asking, what is it you do? I've been wondering. For some reason I got the impression that you have ties with Scholastic...I don't know why.

In real life? Just a graduate with a Bachelor's Degree looking to find something in my career. I work 2 jobs in the mean while though. Also, I don't work for Scholastic, but they know who I am.

Still July 01, 2011, as far as I know, yes.

Nah, nothing past formal introductions, etc. But they are all very excited about the re-release over there. I wouldn't be surprised if they were fans of the books as well.

It's not a deal breaker, imo. What would be the fun of owning the exact same thing twice? I like that there are differences between the two editions now, both in look and content. It gives me a reason to own both versions, as well to fans who already own the entire series (like me).

Also, I find that the lenticular covers are really well done. I was afraid they'd turn out like those cheap dvd covers or something, but the transition morphing feels fluid on these covers, so overall I'm very satisfied.
