Ossanlin trots with Myitt.  <<Yes, there probably isn't a happy ending for Zorish.  Maybe not for Tamara either although I can't see why one would not wish to be removed from Imperial control.  At the very least this should resolve things for Terenia.  Either Tamara will suffer a change of heart, or she'll go back which will definitively prove that she does not wish to be free and wishes to have nothing to do with Terenia.  Of course if she does decide to go back...well it won't be with Zorish at the least.  As for him...well if the rebellion does not wish to keep him in custody to extract information, I will, though it is my opinion that Yeerks would do an infintely better job at caring for a Yeerk.  But that is up to you and Reven.  I know you didn't want to get involved in the first place and were simply acting upon a favor for me, I appreciate it and I certainly won't ask for any more.>>  Ossanlin smiles down at Myitt and then looks up again at Hadrin.

<I don't know that we really have a plan for the other part of our mission yet, only that we know it must be accomplished successfully.  Because of our usual...meeting place...this Yeerk has come across some information that could possibly alter the course of the timeline, which must be avoided at all costs.>

Myitt sighs again, rubbing at her irritated eye.  "That's just it," she whispers.  "Tamora cannot be allowed to return to the Empire.  She's just as much of a security risk as Zorish, with what she will know upon waking.  That raises the question: Where will Tamora and...you know...where will they go, when this is over?  To us?  That's not very likely, given the rebellion's current situation.  You're right, Ossanlin, we simply don't have the time or the resources to hold a sub-visser captive and interrogate him, or to harbor two uncooperative misfits.  Not after a full base relocation.  No matter how valuable a resource the sub-visser might be."  Myitt glances at Tamara's sleeping form.  "Whatever information we gain will have to be obtained while...hrm...extracting Zorish.  Have I mentioned how awful I feel about this?"  She looks away, glaring at the floor.  "Deadly enemy or not."

Hadrin waits for the presumed conversation he cannot fully hear between Myitt and Ossanlin to reach its lull.  "Yes, well.  I don't know much about altering timelines, War-Prince Ossanlin, but if there is a risk to those who fight against the Empire, we will help as best as we both can."

Claxter had reentered the room with the others until further orders, and noticed Myitt whispering to his Prince. Being barefoot, it wasn't hard to walk quietly over and hear what Myitt was saying.

<<All we have to do is wipe Tamora's memory and put her somewhere away from Visser Three, and everything should be fine. As for the other person, I can't motivate myself to care much what happens. I doubt Visser Three would care to hunt Tamora down, though I'm not positive where she could be happiest.>> He said, using private speech that Myitt and Oss could hear.

((On my way home post when I get there))

Alic looked up, as if she actually expected to see the Mirage just hovering above a beat down motel in the morning light. She could hear Claxter, and really didn't like sitting around waiting in the Jeep. But where the hell were they supposed to land? Sighing, Alic climbed out of the Jeep and shrugged. Maybe she should have picked a more secluded place to wait for her "ride."

((Chad, I thought Claxter was in the other room, flying the ship?  Would he really be able to hear Myitt whispering in another room?  She was trying to make it so even Zorish, who is right there in the room, couldn't hear her.  But, maybe make Claxter come in the room and stick his Andalite nose into their private conversation? >.>  That certainly seems in character for him and his naivete.))

((Thanks Chad :) ))

Myitt glares at Claxter for interrupting their conversation.  This little aristh is really getting to be an annoyance, she tells herself, but he does prove a point.

"Claxter," she whispers, "if this human, Tamora, becomes a security risk to my organization, then I will consider the possibility of a memory wipe.  But for how many years of her life has she been conditioned to serve the Empire?  It will be a difficult task, and while the lives of my people come well before anyone else, would...her sister...really want her around with permanent amnesia?  Visser Three has a hair trigger temper, everyone on both sides of the war knows this.  If we kill his officer and steal both of his human prizes, he may very well come after whoever is harboring them.  It certainly won't be the rebellion, that's for damned sure."  She narrows her eyes at the Andalite, still keeping her voice low, but it is full of smoldering anger.  "As for the other person, if you can't motivate yourself to care about torturing someone to death, then you have a lot to learn about war, my friend."

Matthew, still sitting by the door to the main cabin, covers his eyes, oblivious to their conversation.  "Whoa, dude, can someone please just get that guy some clothes already?"

Claxter decides to demorph. <<She only gets tortued because she allows herself to be. Terenia put herself in that situation. You know what? I don't know what to do with Tamora. I don't even know what to do with Efaen. I just know that this is wrong, and a large part of it is Terenia's fault. So no, I don't sympathize with her.>>

Just then, Claxter came to a realization. <<Wait a minute. The Humans are reported to win the war in this timeline. What happens to Visser Three? How long does the war go on after right now?>>

Myitt blinks, watching Claxter.  Then she snorts laughter and quickly covers her mouth, trying to keep quiet.

"Oh," she whispers hoarsely, trying not to laugh, "you meant Terenia.  Well, yes, frankly I don't care what happens to her, but here I am helping her fool of a sister.  I'd like to make sure all of this business wasn't for nothing."  Then she shakes her head, wiping laughter tears from an already irritated eye, and continues in a low tone of voice.  "I don't know nor do I want to know what happens in the future."

Hadrin steps back, watching Claxter demorph with a sense of awe and unease.  Once Claxter is fully back in Andalite form, Hadrin clears his throat.

"Hello, I'm Hadrin Five-Six-One," he says, stepping forward and mustering a great deal of courage to offer Claxter Justin's dark skinned hand in the typical human greeting.  He forces a hopeful smile.  "And you are?"

<<Oh. Yes, I meant Terenia. Not Tamora.>>

<You may call me Claxter.> He said openly to Hadrin. Myitt is a good friend of my current Prince, so any friend of hers should be a friend of mine. My last Prince...to put it mildly would be opposed to interacting with Yeerks.> Understatement of the year. Prince Fasool was like what Yeerks thought all Andalites were like. Almost to the point of being the poster child of the Yeerk view of Andalites.

Hadrin winces and shakes Claxter's thin Andalite hand.  "Well, Claxter, the feeling is mutual, I hope we can work together.  My host's name is Justin, he would like to offer his thanks as well for your assistance."

Myitt shoots Claxter a scathing look.  "Actually, the person I was referring to was Zorish," she hisses lowly.  "Does no one else quite understand the gravity of the situation?  And just how much I despise torturing people?  Especially...like this."  She sighs, exasperated.  "I suppose it is a necessary evil...as I told my friend Hadrin, any of us would be treated no differently in the custody of the Empire.  I'm afraid things would be even worse than death, for you Andalites."

<Have I told you today just how much of a bucket of sunshine you are?> says Tara.

<Alright, you interrogate him while he starves.  I'll just go hang out in what passes for a pool these days, and pretend not to think about it.>

<That might not be a bad idea.>

<And if he starts speaking something other than English?>

<I know more than a few words!>

<Uh huh.  You're frighteningly eager,> Myitt teases.

<No, I'm not.  Just stop complaining, will you?>

<Make me.>

(I think I got lost there.)

Claxter gave Myitt a slightly confused look. He wasn't axactly sure what they were talking about now, but he let it go. <It is nice to meet you too, Justin.>

Justin smiles nervously and steps back, pausing to listen to the conversation.

Myitt isn't sure how to interpret Claxter's look, but she spells out what she means, since he still doesn't seem to get it.

"We.  Are going.  To starve.  A person.  To death," she says slowly, making little hand gestures.  "Not fun.  Do not want.  Have to do it anyway.  Understand?"

<That's right, patronize him.  He's just a kid,> says Tara sourly.

<He needs to do a lot of growing up, really fast.  It's called the military.>

<Why can't you just see if he'll switch sides? Surely we don't need to kill him.> Claxter said. He hadn't thought that Zorish would wind up dead. He looked at Hadrin. Maybe he would have something to say. <Maybe he'll come around, given enough time?>

"Some people don't change, and most people say they'll change when their life is at stake," Myitt interrupts.

Hadrin shrugs.  "I've worked for the Sub-Visser for quite some time now.  I seriously doubt she'll cooperate with traitors by becoming one of them."
