yo I hope that movie happens. I know a lot of people have gripes with the idea of it, but I'm ready for it.

I had the weirdest thought about Animorphs the other day.  Specifically, about book #16.

What if Esplin 9466 (the lesser), had actually died?  Like, when Visser Three tried to starve him, he actually just . . . starved?  We know from Visser that a dying Yeerk can leave part of itself attached to its host's brain, and the host brain firing through the dead Yeerk tissue causes some personality traits to carry over.  So, Esplin dies, and part of him is left with Joe Bob Fenestre (maybe it was the part that was self-aware?), who then gets confused and doesn't really know who he is anymore.  He then crafts this elaborate story, believing that he is still Esplin, about how he survived by eating other Yeerks.

It explains why Visser Three never just nuked his house from orbit (after all, since when has Visser Three ever been like, "well, I tried to kill that guy, but it didn't work, so I guess I'll just let him live *shrugs*"?).  It explains how he was able to 'figure out' how to survive within the three-day time limit (he didn't).

This theory makes me sad and I'm not even sure why.

I've been on a nostalgia kick for animorphs recently (I check this forum often but, It's been forever since I picked up one of the books) and book 2 is actually good but like  nobody ever talks about it. Rereading it, I love the stuff with Rachel comforting Melissa while she's a cat. Honestly, I wish they used Melissa more in the series. Like I know K.A only ever intended to use Melissa for this story, but this book could have actually set a great character arc for her. Like, she could have eventually became an animorph with her being close to Rachel and her parents infestation would be great motivation for her to join the fight. Her learning that her parents voluntarily became controllers to save her would have been a great moment as well.

It's admittedly been awhile since i've picked up the books too, but I have watched Poparena's Animorphs reviews (both on the crappy Nick show and books). I seriously did wish we got an official Chee or Taxxon chronicles book way back in the day. I would have preferred it to the Ellimist one we got, although it wasn't a bad book but nowhere near Andalite or Hork-Bajir Chronicles for me. Taxxon especially would have been nice to flesh out the species more, as well as give Arbron a bigger cameo than just being shoehorned briefly into book #53 I believe it was.

I always loved Poparena's reviews! I may have to rewatch them again soon.

Okay so I just saw one of those "describe a book in exactly 6 words" things for Animorphs and I just wanted to share a few random ones:

We broke the world- ooh McDonalds!
We should have brought ear plugs
How one bird killed the dinosaurs
Mum's not dead, just an alien
My friend, the killer robot dog
Dost thou detest waste product receptacles?!

Those are good, but shouldn't they be 6 words or less?

Ax's human morph is a composite of everyone else in the mystery gang, right?  So why did nobody ever do that again?  Like, what's keeping you from making a composite of some other species where you can pick and choose the best traits to basically create the most powerful version of a given animal possible?

I'm probably just misremembering something and this was addressed in the series.  It's been a long time since I read Animorphs, and my memory is pretty foggy at this point.
yeah

But didn't it just affect appearance? Like assuming it only worked if you wanted to mix the DNA of the same species, there's not really a point to change the colour a bear's fur or whatever in the middle of an alien invasion.

I mean Elfangor did that when decided to live on earth with loren. Also, you probably can't do it mixing different animal species, it'd be a weird biological mess.

create the most powerful version of a given animal possible?
What would that entail? You can't put an elephant's strength on a tiger's skeleton, the mechanics would be a mess. Maybe give a grizzly thumbs?

Surprisingly it's not explicitly addressed, the closest thing is Marco's messed up mutations in 35, where he says it's impossible, that he knows it's impossible, yet he ends up doing it anyway - with terrible results. None of the Andalites every explain that you can't cross species, they would have found Cassie's ability to hold demorphings shocking, though maybe not impossible
Something, something, oh crap I pissed everyone off again....

I meant with one species - a situation in which, for example, you would find a tiger with really strong jaws and then a different one with abnormally swole legs and mix them.  Bad example, but you get the picture.
yeah
