It depends if the frolis maneuver thing combines all the DNA, if there's still left over DNA he could focus on one and morph them.

 Can you mix DNA of different species? Like what if you mixed a hawk and lion, could you control the appearance and become a gryphon? That would be cool.

I'm pretty sure canon says no, and anyway physics. It would be like trying to fly half-morphed. It's CoolButImpractical (I want TVT syntax to work here now!)

You know how Ax acquired all of the Animorphs (except Tobias) and combined them via Frolis maneuver? Could he morph into just one of them?

He did in book 6. As for mixing other animals, an estreen may be able to do something with it, but it wouldn't be as practical as one or the other. unless the two were very similar, like morphing a lion with tiger stripes.

Ax had to re-acquire Jake in book 6, though. He couldn't just use the DNA he'd acquired before.

Did he reacquire Jake? I guess when they shook hands. I thought since he already had the DNA, he just morphed Jake.

He did. If the Frolis Maneuver is combining multiple DNAs into one, it would make more sense that he'd have to reacquire than for him to be able to extract Jake's specific DNA from that combination. It's not like he has to recombine them all every time he morphs human.

Easier to mix something up than it is to extract one thing from a mix.

I always imagined the Hork-Bajir differently to the cover art. I guess I completely skipped th "snakelike" description - in my haed they had literally no necks, just a squarish alien with spikes

I had same impression, kind of like big humans, and I always thought that the blades were kind of like Uruk-hai swords. (Well, didn't think EXACTLY urukhai but it is pretty close...you get it)

Random thoughts:
I remember hating Cassie seven years ago, but now she's one of my favorite characters.

I also, for some reason, loved the book where Jake had to stop Tom from killing his dad this time.

Yeah, I've heard of people changing their minds about the books over time. My opinions of Cassie, or book 31, have not changed. She's still a scrappy, and i still think 31 is an idiot plot.
