Probably a dumb question from someone who hasn't read the book in at least 5 years: Why didn't Jake ever use the Howler morph again?

Aren't those the best fighters in the galaxy?

there's more than one thread devoted to just that (examples: Why did Jake never morph the Howler in order to fight the yeerks? (Spoilers); I think I know why Jake doesn't morph Howler...)  and absolutely no common consensus among fans.
Some explanations are:
The Ellimist or Crayak removed it, so he can't
He chooses not to for personal or moral reasons
The authors totally forgot about it or, more unlikely, decided not let him have a morph that would basically god mode the series

But no solid reason is ever given

Used carpet store has an led sign flashing their sales and such. Yesterday as i drove past i saw the word remnants on that sign. My mind instantly flashed to k a a's series. And i thought, meh,  animorphs was better. Remnants was too much weird in too small a package. Animorphs blended the weird and the normal just right.

Really? I liked it, for the most part. I remember there was one detail that didn't sit right with me (seriously can't remember what it was); but overall, I thought it ended well.

I was enthralled, just trying to visualize and comprehend the sights and creatures. Sure some of them were completely nausiating, but still, the fact that she came up with it was crazily awesome.
