Paranoia
« on: October 27, 2009, 08:50:57 PM »
Okay there have probably been a dozen or so other forum's like this one but I think we should all come forward about our experinces of Yeerk paranoia or trying to find the Yeerk pool somewhere, or freaking out everytime you see your vice principal etc.

It is not anything we haven't discussed before.

I'll start:

During the time period that I was reading the animorphs I freaked out every time someone said the words: apart of, join, fit in, or sharing.
Scary thing is that wasn't to long ago.
We must extract the truth from this unbeliever on pain of torture! Get...THE COMFY CHAIR!

Animorphs seemed plausible to me. Applegate went to some effort to make it seem like it could be "happening now." In 5th grade and middle school, when I first read them, I'd often wonder if Yeerks did exist. The sad thing is that that was around 2001 - 2003, and the series was over by then (I didn't know that, of course)

you know now that you mention it, my very-early-exposure to the detriments of a hive-mind society or cult may be the reason I find things like Scientology so hilarious and unbelievable now.

Or maybe that's just because Scientology is hilarious and unbelievable.
I go off topic on purpose.

In my IT class this year I heard two girls talking and one said something about 'initiation,' and a little voice in my head said Yeerk!

I sometimes suspect animals of being people in morph if they act strangely, lol.

Hey, I still won't swat bugs, just in case. :P

And, oh yeah. XD I totally worried that Yeerks existed in... 5th grade? Yeah.

Yeah, to this day I can't undress in front of any living creature for fear that it might be Marco.

Hey, I still won't swat bugs, just in case. :P

I still swat bugs.  I just warn them ahead of time, and tell them that I'm not a Yeerk, and they can demorph in front of me if they need to.  :D

When I'm at home, my cats are banned from my room. Mostly it's because they'll get into things I don't want them in, but now you've reminded me of another worry! XD

It's mostly when I am drifting off to sleep in class (which I tend to do way, way more frequently than what would be considered normal), but there are moments where my semi-asleep brain gets really worried about having to fight Yeerks, or I feel worried because I am reminded somehow that the Yeerk invasion actually exists. And I wake up with a jolt because of it. So for very brief moments, I fully believe that Yeerks are real and me and the other Animorphs are completely alone in saving the world. I'm sure that this is happening because I've recently watched the whole show and I am rereading the series.

I try not to squish bugs or spiders if I can avoid it. And changing in front of an animal is creepy even if it isn't a pervert in morph, lol.

I dont get paranoid, although sometimes I do stare out the window and attempt to morph.

God dammit I wish I could morph!

Heh, when I was younger, I tried to acquire animal DNA. I don't swat bugs, but I've always been like that. I would get worried when it seemed people were too excited about a club or something...I would keep my distance. As far as when an animal acts strange, I just say "meh must be Marco". Though I did see a kid who reminded me of Ax, he REALLY liked Cinnabons...
