Marco would be more likely be checking out a new vid game than returning a shirt. If he went with Rachel, then she'd return a blouse, but Marco would be cruising the GameStop checking on a reserved game, or checking on the release of the next Metal Gear.

Yeah, maybe the experiment can just be his cop-out way of justifying dating her. 'Cause he doesn't want to accept that he really has feelings for a human.

Ax's morph is considered attractive by most humans. The Cinnabon shop however would normally be distracting to Ax. So I think once they get chatting Marco should kind of manipulate Ax into asking her out (he pitties Ax for not catching on) and Ax does not really know what is going on until Marco explains it to him When they are leaving the mall. Then he undertakes it as an experiment... at first.
